Episode 7

The Unicorn and the Wasp

Episode Location: Earth,
Aliens/Enemies:
Giant wasps,
New Characters: Agatha Christie, Lady Clemency Eddison
Gadgets Used: Sonic Screwdriver, Psychic Paper
Episode Objective: Unknown

In 1926, Agatha Christie mysteriously disappeared, only to be found ten days later with no memory of what had happened. Was it a nervous breakdown? A cry for help? Or perhaps a giant alien wasp? The Doctor and Donna join forces with the world's most famous crime novelist to encounter a body in the library, poisoned cocktails and a Vespiform seeking revenge.

This episode contains the words "peach", "sting", "unicorn" and the sentence "The poor little child"

And here we go!
Lady Clemency Eddison is a woman with secrets... She is lady of the manor where guests have been invited, and the murders begin

And who should be some of those guests? Only the Doctor and Donna! But I don't think they actually know where they are when they arrive, since they seem quite surprised to meet Agatha.

And then I'm sure there is large amounts of comedy as our team try to integrate themselves into this little posh party. And we probably meet all these characters like the Reverand and whatnot, who are asking about Agatha's books.

ROGER
Miss Christie, I've a question. Why a Belgian detective?
AGATHA
The Belgian's make such lovely buns
REVEREND GOLIGHTLY
Where do you get your ideas from?
AGATHA
Murder is easy, vicar, when you've killed as many people as I have

And I'm sure they're having quite a jolly time until a body is found in the library... and then there are the giant wasps to contend with as well.

As of now, I have no idea what the wasps/Vespiform's have to do with anything, but I suspect that if I did, that would ruin the story!

Oh yeah... and this happens at some point in the episode....

But apparently its all okay! He's not making a move towards Donna - it's just his antidote to some poison he's swallowed. Afterwards Donna looks like she'd have preferred it if he died.

So where does the Anchovies remedy come into all this I wonder?

Oh, and as usual, there be a lot of running to do!
Here we see the Doctor, Donna and Agatha Christy all running into this room and stopping dead as the Doctor says to himself: 'There's nowhere to run!'

And here be another shot of the Doctor, putting on his lovely glasses and peering over something that we can't see...

But, I'm sure that whatever problems and big bad evilness that they encounter, it will all be solved (probably by Agatha who, in a Shakespeare Code moment, is told by the Doctor that she's the one who can fix it all)

And then the Doctor and Donna will fly away into the next amazing adventure!

But that'll have to wait until AFTER the Eurovision Song Contest.

Speculation
- The episode features a murder and a jewel thief
- Apparently the Doctor eats some anchovies as a remedy.

And also... I think that this might happen during this episode:
The Doctor making a horrible gasping noise while some white powdery substance (that doesn't seem to behave that much like powder) pours OUT of his mouth

  2. T.U.A.T.W could stand for 'the unknown and terible wasp'

  3. because the word unicorn is featured in this episode it probably is the unicorn and the wasp

  4. nice (laughs) a murder and a jewel thief, perfect for the agatha christie episode. can't wait

  5. how many future episodes in series 4

  6. As I learned from the DWF ( thanks Jess for the info about that) the unicorn might not be a real unicorn. It has been speculated that it is a Jewel. you know the one that the jewel thief is after. this has not been confirmed by the BBC

  7. Maybe the picture of the hand emerging from the water (lake?) is from TUATW. I think this because people say that there is a wasp emerging from one of the lakes. So maybe the wasp kidnaps people and takes them to a lair in the lake. Far fetched, I know. But I did put a lot of thought into this considering I am relatively stupid.

  8. Ooh! Now thats interesting! I put the hand in Sontaran Stratagem as it looked rather like Martha's and she is seen covered in slime... but it could indeed be from this episode.

  9. You have the picture of the Doctor shaking someones hand on the fires of pompeii page. But it could be from this episode because he is standing in front of a tree and on the trailers, Agatha Christie is surrounded by trees. Maybe the Doctor looks confused because he sees Agatha but doesn't who she is. Then she could introduce herself and the Doctor could shake her hand. Or then again it could be from the end of the episode because Agatha might shout the Doctor's name, the Doctor turns around and says goodbye by shaking Agatha's hand and saying "Nice meeting you Miss Christie " or something like that. It is more likely to be at the end of the episode because the Doctor is standing next to the TARDIS. It won't be likely to step out of the TARDIS and see Agatha Christie straight away. Just a thought.

  10. Maybe the pics of Donna being attacked by a wasp could go in this order... 'Giant wasp smashes through the window in the room that Donna's in. Then the wasp flies up to Donna.'

  11. When that person blogged about the hand emerging from the water, the hand could be Clemency Eddisons because she is 'a woman with secrets' so maybe the wasp took her into the water and does something to her so that the wasp is in control of Clemency's mind and the wasp makes Miss Eddison murder people and try to steal the unicorn jewel (if it is a jewel). Then the picture of Miss Eddison looking horrified could be when the wasp approaches her, snatches her and takes her to the lake. It could be at the start of the episode so you can't see the wasp. Then Clemency screams and then, WHIR! Doctor Who title sequence. Bish Bash Bosh!

  12. And maybe the giant wasp wants the jewel so it can use it for power or something who-ish like that.

  13. Um... yes...

The picture when the Doctor is gripping someones hand.. I think its from the Fires of Pompeii since the other hand had a bracelet on that looks distinctly Roman.

and yes, the hand rising from the water could indeed be Clemency Eddisons, but I still think that its Martha's... the slimy, green lake matches with the picture of the slimy green Martha to me.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh a bracelet. I thought it was a brown coat! Stupid old me!

  15. Heh, no problem. I make mistakes like that all the time!

  16. Will there be a page on episode 12?

    ReplyDelete
  17. At the moment, episode 12 and 13 are just under the heading of "finale" since they've only just started being filmed and no one has found out anything about them yet.

  18. Not trying to burst anyones bubble but the pics from the pompeii episode shows the doctor surrounded by trees next to the TARDIS looking at someone and you can just see the corner of the person head.

The hair is grey and agatha christie has blonde hair in this ep.

  19. Yep, thats why the Pompeii picture isn't on this page!

  20. you know when the annonamous guy posted about the story arc being red? Well, if the Unicorn IS a jewel (in which it's been rumoured) it could be red. like a wee ruby. or a big ruby. or whatever size it is.

  21. What are the odds that the Doctor gets a "Man in the Brown Suit" reference?

  22. I read SFX (April.2008)and found the episode of Agatha Christie was mentioned as episode six.
You'd better Check it out and Rusell T Davies said Rose's return and a pause in 2009 were all planned.

  23. Okay, this sounds really daft. Anyway, anchovies are hot, arn't they. I wouldn't really take much notice of anchovies. Anyway, if they are hot, the Doctor eats them doesn't he, as a remedy. Well the Doctor may not know it, but the Time Lords may have something in their bodies that can't stand hot and spicy food. And the white powdery stuff could be steam off the spicyness. That would put a bit more comicness back into the show.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I also would like to add that in the "powder" scene, not only is he huffing out waif-y stuff, but around the edges it looks as though his FLESH IS PEELING OFF.
    This has me scared. o_o

  25. the doctor can do that weird thingy where he expels stuff from his body. maybe he got stung by the wasp or something and hes getting rid of the poison.

if the unicorn is a jewel its probably like the diamond in Tooth and Claw, much more than a pretty jewel with some other purpose.

  27. GIANT WASPS!!! i'm quite suprised that no one has even mentioned zarbi especially when rtd said that he was bringing back a few minor classic monsters like he did with the macra

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm pretty sure the powder-breathing scene occurs during Planet of the Ood. Something David said on the Jonathan Ross show.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I don't think the zarbi and the giant wasps are the same creatures the zarbi are more like giant flies.

The above poster deserves a medal for being the first person to make that joke LOL!

Apaprently, the pre-credits scene is going to make Cluedo fans very happy (Fear Forecast). And the episode includes a murder and a jewel thief. AND it includes a vicar, a maid, a posh woman, a sexy woman, a reverand AND a proffessor.
    SO...

In the Black Estate (!), the guests are all having tea when the person leaves the room. We don't see who follows, but we know the person dies, and their jewel, the Unicorn, is stolen.

Doc and Donna land and meet agatha, and together they go out, buy Pesticide, kill the "FLYING BEASTIE!"*, decide on Reverand Green in the Kitchen with the Rope, recover the diamond, let Donna and Agatha have some alone time, and take off.

*Kudos to the person who spotted that reference to the Faceless Ones.

    A Unicorn. a wasp
    a suspiciously murdered guest
    solving mysterious crimes
is what agatha christie does best

    there's a thief who's stealing precious jewels
and to make things even worse
    with a giant murderous vespiform
it's like some kind of curse

    despite the reverand's sneaky attempt
    to poison the doctors drink
he was ratted out and then flew to the lake
where he quickly started to sink
