Joyfulness!

Hooray!
Fires of Pompeii was brilliant! It did indeed hit our television screens in a delightful ball of hot, waxy, awesomeness goo.

The episode can now been seen on Planet Gallifrey TV

And what with a whole scene dedicated to prophecy, there were some definite hints about whats to come
  • Rose - "She is Returning"
  • The Medusa Cascade
  • Shadow Proclamation was mentioned again
  • Theres something on your back Donna! (Episode 11)
  • A terrible choice (although this could be referring to the end of Pompeii)
  • Loss of a planet - Pyrovilla was destroyed - Time War? Dalek invasion? Destroyed by the Doctor?
So! Tell me what you thought of it all!

  2. "It's the Doctor! But not the Doctor"

  4. Hay gaiz, guess wut: it's VOLCANO DAY
    Bwahaha.

I have to wait until about 3 AM to get the episode online, or catch it tomorrow.

Oh, and NEWS from the German-speaking realm! Pro7, the channel that originally premiered Doctor Who and then shut it down again after two showings due to low ratings (double episodes at 5 on a saturday, doubling up with the footy on the other channel. GREAT way to premiere a series, guys... x_x ), is now restarting! They're picking up where they left off a month later as though nothing happened, starting Sunday at 5:00 with The Long Game.
The German dubbing of Ecclescake is pretty scary, as german words are longer so the speaker has to babble really fast, and a lot of the jokes are just completely lost, but it's good to know that it is actually showing on TV in my country (Switzerland gets German TV).

So; hooray for international Who! :D

  5. One thing you guys have missed out.

    Episode 1.

Donna's car blue, same shade as the TARDIS.

Roses' Jacket blue, same shade as the TARDIS.

The stone mark on the girls arm blue, same shade as the TARDIS.

This is a hidden theme we need to keep watching!

  6. Shadow Proclomation was referred to.
And Pyrovillia is lost, why are all these planets lost?

Rose is referred in a prophecy and what is on Donna's back? (same prophecy).

Other then that, lot's of dust sightings but then again it is pompei what did you guess.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh and just thought of this, second time they refer to Venus (Donna calls herself the Goddes Venus, and planet when Gramps was looking at it)

    ReplyDelete
  8. The pyrophile's 'heaven' planet was lost aswell...

    ReplyDelete
  9. The young girl seer also mentioned Cascade of Medusa, RTD mentioned this would haunt us, and I think this is something to keep an eye out for as well as mentions of 100 years (S4E1Donna: I'll find him, even if it takes me a hundred years! S3E12Martha: I'll save you Doctor, even if it takes me a hundred years.) The Cruciform that the Dalek Emperor (not Emperor Dalek) got a hold of, (mentioned by the Master in S3E12) and Constant choices of life or death or something along those lines, like we saw in S4E2 just now.

    Remember, keep 'em peeled!

  10. my god the possibilities of what the story arc could be are ENDLESS!

we had rose (she is returning), something on donnas back, another lost planet, shadow proclamation, medusa cascade, and an 'awful choice.'

surely at least ONE of those must be right!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Maybe Pyrovilla and the Adipose Nursery Planet is lost in time and space just like by some rumours the doctor will be in Episode 11

    ReplyDelete
  12. oh yeah! he could go to the same place!! the ood-sphere could also get 'lost'!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. You missed the reference to the Medusa Cascade, whici RTD said would come back to bite us in the bum.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS!

    ReplyDelete
  15. what was the 'doctor, not the doctor' bit?

    ReplyDelete
  16. the son of Caecilius becoming doctor or the doctor and donna being the new household gods.

    ReplyDelete
  17. when do you think this'll be up on the planet gallifrey tv site?

    ReplyDelete
  18. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Proclamation

this doesnt really give much info but itcould be worth a look

    ReplyDelete
  19. It'll be up on PGtv as soon as possible, and the "Doctor, but not the Doctor" bit is referring to Quintus, who becomes a doctor.

And yes! I did miss out the Medusa Cascade! Thanks for picking that up!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Could the 'something's on your back' be a giant spider? The Great one was the Queen..'She is Coming'? And i beleve i saw some where that one of the Doctors lines in ep 12 or 13 is along the lines of "Can it be? after all these years.."

    ReplyDelete
  21. the doctor, not the doctor could be Martha Jones

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anyone know here to see it online? Or does anybody know it it'll be posted here?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Does anybody else think that the next "lost" planet will be the sontaran homeworld

    ReplyDelete
  24. I flippin' lurved it!

Review now up on my blog with screenshots.

    ReplyDelete
  25. thanks for uploading it!! it's brilliant

    ReplyDelete
  26. when and were did RTD say the stuff about the Medusa Cascade i never heard this before but i really think stuff in this puzzle is going to be going on all season and the lost planet thing is i feel something big and the shadow proclamation. then we have rose for sure she is returning i loved it the doctor asked who the man should have said the blond

well cant wait to see the ood episode another week to wait

    Dan

    ps
was bummed they did not have capt jack running around somewhere it was volcano day i just felt it would hae been great while running to the tardis they had passed by the captain then the doctor could have said anolsey capt lol lol

    ReplyDelete
  27. PLEASE keep the episodes coming! A thousand "thank you"s!

    ReplyDelete
  28. regarding 'the shadow proclaimation', could there be a link to the episode set in the library, where there are apparently some nasty skin-eating shadow things?

    ReplyDelete
  29. The 'Medusa Cascade' was mentioned by THE MASTER in last year's finale.

This ties in with RTD's comment that a word or phrase spoken by the rival Timelord returns.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I completely agree with dan! I was so hoping that John Barrowman would make a quick cameo!

    ...but where's Part 4?!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm going to feel like a big idiot in a few weeks, but... I *really* don't think the Shadow Proclamation has anything to do with anything. It's been around since new series one, maybe even before then (I haven't watched most of the old series) yet.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anyone notice that the word "dust" popped up again? I'm sure it is probably just a coincidence, but still sort of odd...

    ReplyDelete
  33. N.T... you're not alone. I think the Shadow Proclamation is just a set of laws invented for the show to explain why aliens can't invade earth outright. (At least, those who obey it.) The Medusa something-or-other, however, is likely to have some relevance. As far as the missing/lost planets, several planets were known to have been destroyed in the Time War in a way not noticed by the "lesser races." The only ones with the technology to do that were the Time Lords and Daleks.

    ReplyDelete
  34. what about atmos????

    ReplyDelete
  35. how about in silence in the library, the shadow proclamation is made, invented, whatever. the fact that its been there for ages makes it even more imortant because RTD said that it the arc had been there subtly since series 1.

    ReplyDelete
  36. medusa turned people to stone (pyroviles were stone) and a cascade is an area of waterfalls in tasmania.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Rose - "She is coming" - problem with "she" is it can mean any female in space and time, VERY loose - but I think I AGREE.

Loss of a planet - the adipose were to replace a lost race i think, a link?

Theres something on your back Donna! - yes i think this will prove to be something.

overall prob a lot of what was said will link to things in future eps!

    ReplyDelete
  38. for all the planets going missing, davros could be nicking them to build a dalek empire.

    ReplyDelete
  39. could the doctor and donna being gods be important?. that could be to to with the deciding who lives or dies, being a god theory

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm not sure the Doctor knows anything about the lost planets; he's seemed puzzled both times they've been mentioned, so he's obviously not aware of what's going on. So he didn't destroy them, and it's unlikely that the Time War did it, as he seems to be quite knowledgeable on the fallout from the conflict.

The mentions of Venus in relation to Donna are very tasty. I wonder where they're going with that?

    ReplyDelete
  41. venus was an important god at the time, may just be a comment. but there are a lot of leads turning up! i considered "she is coming" as the "mumbo jumbo" a soothsayer would say, probably something in it though!

    ReplyDelete
  42. The talk of "Volcano Day" made me think of The Doctor Dances, jack referred to the bomb exploding as "Volcano Day"

    ReplyDelete
  43. The things that are really interesting to me are...

~The planets being "lost" left and right.
~The Doctor's real name, because every time someone mentions it I want to know more and more.
    ~What's on Donna's back?!
~Will the Doctor give the "she is coming" a second thought???
~And the Shadow Proclamation, if it pops up in ep3 then I feel like its gonna be a biggie.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh and PS- the terrible choice! i definitely don't think pompeii was it...didnt i read somewhere that he's gonna have to give up 1 companion in the end???

    ReplyDelete
  45. There is something written on the wall during the beginning. When Donna tries to speak Welsh/Queltic whatever, I think it says NUIIC or NULIC. It could mean nothing, or it could be a clue. I tried rearranging the letters but no luck :(

    ReplyDelete
  46. And also you can see someone in the wooden cage when the woman in red looks at Donna & the Doctor. I'm going over the top here, lol

    ReplyDelete
  47. When the Doctor says "A box, a big blue box, just over there!" There is writing in orange (could just be for the food stall and also a drawing in white bottom right just above the food stall. HELP ME OUT , lol

    ReplyDelete
  48. ~What's on Donna's back?

metabelis 3 - the spiders. they used to climb onto your back???

or perhaps something is fastened to her back (back of kneck) to make her do someones bidding? so she is a spy? just a thought

    ReplyDelete
  49. ryan: there are frame grabs here - http://doctorwho.time-and-space.co.uk/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=141&page=1
can you find the image with your message,i cant see it?????

    ReplyDelete
  50. The term cascade isn't confined to tasmania! And it can be applied in a more general sense to mean anything which kind of falls or flows. That's all folks.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I loved how the doctor and donna became the family's house gods because it links to comments made throughout the last 3 series saying if the doctor could choose who lives and who dies, he would be like a god. It must be a clue for the series 4 finale!

also, that prophecy scene was fascinating about the doctor's real name and the medusa cascade! the shadow proclamation has got to be important - maybe they go after the doc cos he saved that family? maybe they are the daleks or whatever features in silence of the library!

finally, the thing on donnas back??? what could that be?

    great episode!

  54. Sounds like perhaps they may possibly put up the Racnoss again. In planet of the spiders the underling spiders invisibly hung themselves from the backs of those they possess. Could be a suggestion of a similar relationship. and yes i agree, perhaps there will be disappearing planets all season.

    ReplyDelete
  55. could the medusa cascade be another name for the untempered schism? evelina says the doctors real name burns there, when timelords look into the untempered shcism they pick their names.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Do they?

    ReplyDelete
  57. watched pompeii again on bbc3 - this time instead of enjoying the show, i took in the scenery and conversations.

the mesage on the wall was "NUIIC", my missis and mate did see it saying "music" but they are wrong, they where still enjoying he show, rather then looking for things.

    ReplyDelete
  58. combom, it wasn't only in this episode that Venus was mentioned in relation to Donna; remember the scene with her grandfather in episode one? So it's not just a one-off comment. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. is venus a known location for this series i wonder? is this where she meets her demise?

    ReplyDelete
  60. the picture of donna behind bars is definateley planet of the ood.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Could it be that planets are getting lost more and more because Rose is punching holes in the Universe while looking for the Doctor? Doctor said that what happened when they went from one parallel Universe to another: they made holes in space and time.
Feels like Doctor should take notice of planets disappering?

Also, with 'She is coming' it seems that everyone will assume it refers to Rose, but it could be referring to Doctor's daughter. (or Rachnoss empress, or Lady Cassandra, or Jackie Tyler... ok, stop me :)
But it might be a clever trick, since everyone most likely automatically think of Rose.

    ReplyDelete
  62. good point, as ive said "she" could mean anyone!

  64. ye but rtd said that clues were seeded from series one and in series one mickey said "turn left he shud of turned left" could it relate to turn left? oh and donna could be spying on the doctor for davros because later in the series rose finds out somefin sinister about donna. but donna might become friends with the doctor and disobey davros and fight against him instead. oh and i fink donna dies because a companion dies and donnas granpa says to the doctor u can never tell her.?? its so exiting!!

    ReplyDelete

  66. im sure donna will die! shes a baddie! its all a but turlough isnt it?

  68. The thing about the controversy over 'She is coming' meaning Rose is slightly less cloudy when put how Lucius Whateverus the soothsayer ACTUALLY said it. He said, "She is RETURNING". That narrows it down a bit, don't you think? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  69. the doctor replied didnt he? i think he said 'who is returning?'

    ReplyDelete
  70. the line theres something on your back could mean in my interpretation as a female spider with the eggs on its back so its the family link again and her grandfather and her family are featured heavily in the last episodes of the series

    ReplyDelete
  71. Flying girl, I think your Rose-universe-hole theory is good. That'd certainly make a lot of sense.

WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK DONNA IS BAD? Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  72. It's not that I think Donna's bad, I just think she's hiding something that may end up giving them trouble later.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks n.t.!
Yes, I think she might not know about the damage she's causing or it might be someone else who's making the travel possible (Davros?) and she's just using it.
I also have another theory how this could tie-in with Time war, but I don't know if everyone's done discussing it :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. donna isnt necessarily bad, but shes like turlough!

    ReplyDelete
  75. the medusa cascade isnt new, its metioned in the claws of axos (pertwee), there is a "rift" at the medusa cascade, the doctor hasnt been documented as sealing this rift.

look at the womans hand at the masters funeral pyre, this time ignore the nail varnish, its a woman, a little chubby, 40ish - ARE BELLS RINGING YET? - was it donna noble who picked up the ring? and this is where the master is hiding, in donna? btw the ring symbol was also the labs symbol on the lazarus story.

    ReplyDelete
  76. beg your pardon, it is sealed - "I can remember the days when that famous Doctor, he was waging a Time War, battling Sea Devils, and Axons, he sealed the rift at Medusa Cascade, single handed. And look at him now. How did he ever come to this? Oh yes! Me!"

The Master "The Last of the Timelords" episode

    ReplyDelete
  77. Maybe 'she is returning' refers to The Rani? ironically I thought this after the last episode of S3 when the female hand picks up the ring. Prob way off though.

    ReplyDelete
  78. so did i and i still think we may see her!

    ReplyDelete
  79. the actual hand that filmed that scene belonged to the production manager, Tracie Simpson. that shows its just a plot device for ages in the future

    ReplyDelete
  80. maybe the doctor hasn't noticed the planets disappearing because the planets are from the parallel universe? Since the parallel universe is collapsing maybe the survivors are all crossing over somehow?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Missing planets.
Nestenes planet is gone 1.01. Pyrovilia is gone (4.02).
The Adipose breeding planet is gone (4.01).
Gallifrey and Skaro are gone (Time War).

Are the Daleks/Davros are stealing planets to create a New Skaro empire, perhaps using a paradox machine (3.12) so they exist in the future but not the past?

    ReplyDelete
  82. And the Gelth home world, they said themselves that it was destroyed in the Time War.

    ReplyDelete
  83. ill bet anything the ood sphere is next to go

    ReplyDelete
  84. well the ood wouldnt complain!

    sorry, ood joke :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. lol odd ood. they would probably helpblow it up if you told them too! i wanna join friends of the ood!

    ReplyDelete
  86. im forming the "ood liberation front", they all want liberating because we tell them they do!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Russel T Davis also said the Lost Moon of Poosh will be mentioned some time in this series. Well, it's a moon, not a planet, but pretty much the same thing, just a smaller piece of rock.

It's all the work of evil Donna :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Donna has a spider from Metebellis 3 on her back. Remember those? See Pertwee-Planet of the Spiders.

    They control the human host.

Now, Donna and a spider. Whay does that sound familiar?

    ahoj

    ReplyDelete
  89. I kicked myself for this, did anybody else notice that there was a chalk drawing on the wall near the beginning of the episode of a Volcano erupting. That could have followed up to Pomeii erupting. I don't belive I missed that. And also on the Escape Pod, on the ceiling it looks like there is the pod coming from the Volcano. I totally kicked myself for this.

    ReplyDelete
  90. "There's something on your back". Could it be that Donna has been possessed since Runaway Bride? And she has been waiting for the Doctor to return? Why all of a sudden? Just a thought.
Here's another. In Satan Pit, the planet was pulled into the black hole. What if the black hole is expanding and pulling in other planets like Pyrovilia?

    ReplyDelete
  91. those pyoviiies are velcone monsters.

    ReplyDelete
  92. they should put a tardis statue in the real pompeii
