Info on The Doctor's Daughter from the lovely people at Digital Spy. As usual, 2 of them are red herrings:
The Doctor is "processed".
Donna refers to The Doctor's daughter Jenny as "GI Jane".
Martha falls into a bog.
The Doctor puts a gun to a man's head.
There is talk of a being called 'The Great One'.
The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.
Martha puts a fish's shoulder back in place (or perhaps in plaice?).
The Doctor doesn't need a female to spawn a daughter - he is capable of doing it all on his own.
Jenny tells The Doctor that she saw someone called Susan die in the Time War, which upsets him greatly.
After putting a stethoscope to Jenny's chest, The Doctor is surprised by what he hears.
The two false ones I think would be:
ReplyDeleteThere is talk of a being called 'The Great One'.
Would be a little too obvious Met3 reference..
The Doctor doesn't need a female to spawn a daughter - he is capable of doing it all on his own.
Would just be weird..
I'm not sure of these either:
Jenny tells The Doctor that she saw someone called Susan die in the Time War, which upsets him greatly.
Not Susan :'(
The Doctor puts a gun to a man's head.
Not so Doctor-ish, but depends on the context.
Some very cool red herrings if true,
The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.
They certainly look-a-like at least from what I know (never watched the old series but know alot of them)
martha falls down a toilet?
ReplyDeleteThey might possibly mean bog as in a swamp... rather that toilet. Although the latter would be hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI hope the one about Susan is true I love angsty Doctor.
ReplyDeleteThe gun one has to be false.. he doesn't do gun but then if he gets pissed off enough I wouldn't put it past him.
Surely Jenny would have recognised Susan as they would be relatives of each other and the Doctor.
ReplyDeleteThe bit about the Great One is true as it's in Doctor Who Magazine.
ReplyDeleteWho's Susan? Was she his granddaughter? (I don't remember that girl's name)
ReplyDeleteSince Jenny seems to be quite the skilled fighter could it be that she was created during the Time War, as a soldier? Maybe they needed Time Lords who can fight (like they resurected the Master) and just created them out of already existing Time Lords who had potential.
ReplyDeleteLike in the world wars when everyone was encouraged to have many children. In that case I wouldn't be surprised if the Doctor had no say in it, as I can't imagine him letting his children be used as gunfodder.
Maybe they mixed together the DNA of the Doctor and the Master. Not very likely, though - it would explode the internet.
Also, I would be really disappointed if this was true:
ReplyDeleteThe Doctor doesn't need a female to spawn a daughter - he is capable of doing it all on his own.
I know it's a 'family' show, but come on. That would be lame. And it would mean that he abandoned his child with no one who loved her, which is pretty awful. I'm sure the writer(s) would make it all be understandable, but still.
Also they'd have to explain why he hasn't just spawned a whole new time lord race if he's so lonely ;-). The race of the Doctors! haha. weird
@Vail: "it would explode the internet" haha. nice.
If the one about Susan *is* true, then it seems possible that Jenny could have witnessed the event, but not yet be at the point in her life where Susan is actually born. So she might not be angsty about it, but it would cause the doctor angst.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't know.
The Doctor puts a gun to a man's head.
ReplyDeletedeffo not true after all his gun hating in the sontaran stratagem.....actually does a water pistol count as a gun?
Ah, so I gave up and looked it up. granddaughter. Are you implying that Susan is Jenny's daughter? . . . uh that hurts my brain. The Doctor seems surprised that he has a daughter--which would imply he didn't know about her, and I think a prerequisite not knowing about her is not knowing he has a granddaughter by Jenny. ouch. brain.
ReplyDeleteand in the end we find out that...Jenny is actually Rose's daughter! ;-) and she hasn't been conceived yet! Oh my!!
haha, as you can see, I can't wait for this one.
Maybe they want to illustrate how far he would go to protect his daughter?
ReplyDeleteI still don't like the gun-thing.
By the way, if she's a Time Lady, shouldn't he have been able to sense her?
The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.
ReplyDeletehaemo- meaning to do with blood. (haemoglobin, haemodialisis etc.) in the trailer thing donna said 'creatures of metal, fire and blood'
so probably true
'spawn' is that what they're calling it now?
ReplyDelete"The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.
ReplyDeletehaemo- meaning to do with blood. (haemoglobin, haemodialisis etc.) in the trailer thing donna said 'creatures of metal, fire and blood' so probably true"
No. The Haemovore were Vampiric decendants of humans who appeared in the Original Series. So that's fake.
well, haemoVORE would imply that they eat blood, wouldn't it? could this be the vampires that the time lords killed off?
ReplyDelete@ TipsyKW,
ReplyDelete"And in the end we find out that...Jenny is actually Rose's daughter! ;-) and she hasn't been conceived yet! Oh my!!"
Lol, yeah, I can see the finale now...
"erm, you know...before you leave...there's a little something we need to do. y'know to stop a possible paradox and all that.."
>>The Doctor is "processed".<<
ReplyDeleteWith all the definitions of "processed" that could be true.
>>Donna refers to The Doctor's daughter Jenny as "GI Jane".<<
Don't see why not, as a joke.
>>Martha falls into a bog.<<
I dunno, everything I've seen in previews has been shot inside some sort of industrial complex, so who knows.
>>The Doctor puts a gun to a man's head.<<
Not bloody likely! He didn't even want someone carrying a gun to stand too close to him in The Sontaran Stratagem so I really doubt it, unless it's a toy gun like in Pompeii.
>>There is talk of a being called 'The Great One'.<<
Oh probably.
>>The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.<<
As far as I know, not likely.
>>Martha puts a fish's shoulder back in place (or perhaps in plaice?).<<
Fish have shoulders?
>>The Doctor doesn't need a female to spawn a daughter - he is capable of doing it all on his own.<<
God I hope not. That's so cheap.
>>Jenny tells The Doctor that she saw someone called Susan die in the Time War, which upsets him greatly.<<
Might be true, and if true, very sad. :(
>>After putting a stethoscope to Jenny's chest, The Doctor is surprised by what he hears.<<
Depending on when in the episode it happens, it could be likely, as that could be how he finds out she's one of his own, by hearing two heartbeats.

ReplyDelete"erm, you know...before you leave...there's a little something we need to do. y'know to stop a possible paradox and all that.."
hahaha! most ridiculous excuse ever! awesome
No. The Haemovore were Vampiric decendants of humans who appeared in the Original Series. So that's fake.
ReplyDeletesorry. wasnt alive back then!! so fishy vampires then?? cant wait!
i thought time lords were 'weaved' from the looms? would this mean he wouldn't necessarily need a female?
ReplyDeleteIf Jenny is the Doctor's daughter, then that means he's not the last of the timelords, right?
ReplyDeleteHm, I can see a gun thing happen, as an irony too. With all the ranting he did in the last episodes (which was waaaay too much), he'll realize he's capable of it when it comes to protecting his own daughter.
ReplyDeleteI agree that his not needing a female doesn't seem likely, otherwise why not create a new race?
The bit about Susan could be true, but why would it be too sad? Didn't Doctor already know about it? All Time Lords are dead including Susan, maybe just talking about it will make him sad.
In the end we'll find that she really is a daughter of Master and Lucy, but happens to look identical to Doctor's daughter :):)
My P.S. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe Time Lords are grown, just like Tardises :)
The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.
ReplyDeleteThe Doctor doesn't need a female to spawn a daughter - he is capable of doing it all on his own.
Now ,now this are alot of theiries out there and the thing about the doctor and rose? have the babey maybe possible!
ReplyDeleteObviously most of you are too wound up in Tennants intepretaion of the Doctor to understand that he has used guns before. Not regularly, but in Colin Bakers version of the Doctor he kills several Cybermen with a gun in "Attack Of The Cybermen". So stating that him using a gun is "Un-Doctorish", is not 100% true. I'm sure that there are other instances of this happening, as well.
ReplyDeleteRemember, each incarnation of the Doctor's personality is different.
ReplyDeleteYes, we're hooked on the Tennant version because the Tennant version will only behave how the Tennant version was written and created to behave. That'd be like expecting the Tom Baker version of the Doctor to suddenly act like the William Hartnell version. They're all different.
The Doctor is "processed".
ReplyDelete- Probably true in some way, just hopefully not like an Ood :p
Donna refers to The Doctor's daughter Jenny as "GI Jane".
- yeah sure, sounds possible
Martha falls into a bog.
- could happen
The Doctor puts a gun to a man's head.
- not likely for this Doctor though depends on the type of gun etc. I have found a lot of the ones which seem herrings come down to lack of extra info and taking at face value.
There is talk of a being called 'The Great One'.
- probably will be, not surprised if the Great One is The Doctor lol.
The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.
Martha puts a fish's shoulder back in place (or perhaps in plaice?).
- yeah she is a doctor and they will help anyone (or at least are meant to) Also plaice = "flesh of large European flatfish" apparently.
The Doctor doesn't need a female to spawn a daughter - he is capable of doing it all on his own.
- sure hope not and wouldn't make sense to what we know already like the fact he is the last and not to mention the fact Time Lords are not asexual... Plus it is just lame.
Jenny tells The Doctor that she saw someone called Susan die in the Time War, which upsets him greatly.
- perhaps true but I suspect Jenny comes from after the Time War and/or was never involved. I also believe Susan's mum and the Doctor's wife would be long gone.
After putting a stethoscope to Jenny's chest, The Doctor is surprised by what he hears.
- One of two things here. Either she has two hearts and that is how he finds out Time Lord (though I am sure it wouldn't be impossible for other species to have two hearts) or she only has one heart and that makes him wonder and that would be after already knowing about the daughter thing.
Perhaps the "Great One" is the Doctor himself, if the possible theme of him being like a god is going to continue.
ReplyDeleteAnd surely the Hath are fish-like, so she will just put one of their shoulders back in place.
Jenny tells The Doctor that she saw someone called Susan die in the Time War, which upsets him greatly.
ReplyDeleteDoubt thats true.
1) There must be lots of Susan's on Gallifrey
2) Why would Jenny not know her own daughter?
"Preventing a paradox, eh? I've heard that one before, sunshine."
ReplyDeleteOr Jackie walking in on that for extra hilarity points.
But for serious; Tennant's Doctor has mentioned being a father, grandfather, and I /think/ implied he was married at one point, though my memory is rusty. Admittedly, "The Doctor could be fibbing." is always a possibility, but-well, chances are we won't get a straight answer on the whole 'Time Lord Sexuality' question anyway.
"I was a dad once"
ReplyDelete"Things sometimes don't happen to me in the right order. Especially weddings. I'm rubbish at weddings. Especially my own."
And as to whether the Doctor has a gun or not, there was a review that said how he kept up with the anti-war policy he had in the Poison Sky.
TV Times and Time Out have given it away in their previews for the episode.
ReplyDeleteShe's a clone created on the planet in the story (it's the way they get new soldiers to fight the war) and the TARDIS is involved in a paradox as it detects Jenny which is why it goes there but it arrives before she's created thus being responsible for bringing them there. (Don't think about it too much or you'll get a headache.)
accoring to the Daily Mail website
ReplyDelete"The Time Lord is shocked when a girl starts calling him "Dad". But all is not what it seems as Jenny has been created from his DNA, which has been stolen from him."
here's the article:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/showbiz/showbiznews.html?in_article_id=564314&in_page_id=1773
Jenny isn't necessarily Susan's mother, she can easily be her aunt or half-aunt, especially if she was genetically engineered.
ReplyDeleteThere we go, I was sure I heard something like that. Thanks Jess.
ReplyDeletewas it ever explained whether susan was created in whatever way jenny will be. like susan could also have been cloned or watever
ReplyDeleteThe Doctor and Susan were just stated to be grandfather and granddaughter, presumably in whatever way is usual.
ReplyDelete> There is talk of a being called 'The Great One'.
ReplyDeleteHappens to me all the time :)
"Or Jackie walking in on that for extra hilarity points."
ReplyDelete*can't stop laughing at the mental image*
I really think the bit about the Doctor not needing a female is false. He's mentioned fatherhood and weddings before so that just wouldn't make sense. Also on a less logical note, it cuts half the fun out of fan speculation.
The other possible red herrings to me are the bit about the gun and Susan...but at the same time, neither sound all that unlikely in comparison to the first.
Anyone else pick up on the fact that "the Great One" was the name of the gigantic spider ruler in the Tom Pertwee episode "Planet of the Spiders"? Even if it wasn't referring to that gigantic spider, it would be a dead giveaway that Donna was possessed by a Metebelis spider. After all, they didn't just mention the Medusa Cascade in passing and have that lead to nowhere, did they? And they went somewhere with the Hoix, bringing it over to Torchwood. And Bad Wolf appeared in I believe every episode of Series 1.
ReplyDeleteI second the motion that the Haemovores reference is a red herring. They were vampire humans from an alternative future that the Doctor preventing ever taking place (And if that sounds confusing, the episode it came from won't help -- it came from that final era of the original series when the writers felt they were no longer required to tell viewers what was going on.) The aliens can't be decedents because, technically, the Haemovores never truly existed in the first place. As far as the other spoilers, I couldn't say which is real. I'm betting the Susan reference is real because if we're dealing with the Doctor's offspring, it would be hard to ignore the fact he was once a grandfather and, by his own admission, a father.
ReplyDeleteWell it seems Jenny IS a Time Lady after all, given what was said on the Fear Forecast. Also, I completed the jigsaw and got this scrap of script, which seems to follow on directly from the preview clip:
ReplyDeleteJenny picks herself up, unharmed, excited, grinning. The Doctor is furious with her.
The Doctor: Why did you do that?
Jenny: They were trying to kill us!
The Doctor: But they've got my friend
Jenny: Collateral damage. At least you've still got her. He lost both of his men. I'd say you came out ahead

ReplyDeleteJenny: They were trying to kill us!
The Doctor: But they've got my friend
Jenny: Collateral damage. At least you've still got her. He lost both of his men. I'd say you came out ahead
lol.
The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.
ReplyDeletenow revealed to be false so that puts the blood creatures as whatever we come across in midnight
the hath are not A haemovores
ReplyDelete
