Children in Need

Hmmm, straight from the BBC press office. How intriguing!

BBC Children In Need 2008
Friday 14 November

Pudsey is back in town for BBC Children In Need 2008
Broadcasting live from Television Centre in London, the BBC Children In Need Appeal once again raises the curtain to entertain the nation, bringing viewers a rich offering of stellar entertainment acts – all appearing to raise money for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Host Terry Wogan is joined by Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton for a spectacular night of fun and fundraising.

The seven-hour show features some of the UK's top TV, musical and theatrical personalities and acts, highlights of which include performances from Take That, Girls Aloud, Leon Jackson, Boyzone, Escala, Stereophonics, John Barrowman, Il Divo and Jason Donovan.

There are some Children In Need-themed scenes from Doctor Who and Ashes To Ashes, a musical extravaganza from Albert Square, featuring the cast of EastEnders, and a special edition of Junior Masterchef.

Appeal messages feature throughout the night from a host of celebrities, including Stevie Wonder, Jack Black and The Osbournes. And, of course, there is the annual, live performance by the BBC newsreaders.

The programme also features broadcasts from around the UK, as BBC presenters join their local communities to catch up with some energetic and creative fundraising exploits.

Wonder what thats all about then!

    Translation: Unfunny comedy sketch.

  2. I bet they'll do a shitty crossover between ashes to ashes and doctor who!

  3. You might be right - is the "and" a "with" and, or a listing and? I'd be scared.

  4. Actually, I just clicked your link to the website, and "Doctor Who" has been removed from the article. It now just says "Ashes to Ashes". Hmm... unintentional leak perhaps?

  8. Uh... doctor who fan, punctuation is your friend. Almost nothing you wrote made sense till I reread it a few times.

As to wanting to see the Ten Doctors, it's just not going to happen. I doubt anyone involved with the show wants to track down actors to replace Hartnell, Troughton, or Pertwee. I don't think the diehard fans would be amused by such a move.

  9. Bill Nighy, Robson Green and Sean Pertwee respectively. Job done. Can I have £20,000 please?

  10. I have read somewhere that they have lined up the 'alive' ex-Dr's, but can't remember where. May have been the Observer. Can't see the point, whole thing would be a mess. Last years Timeline was excellent with one set and 2 men, not a good idea to go mad when it will only be 10m worth. Would rather have an interview with them as group than a playlet

  11. I don't think it would be a good idea to have the surviving Dr's in one short sketch. If it was a longer story then it might be worth it. As it is it will just seem crowded and badly written.

  12. Crowded, badly written... and BRILLIANT!

  13. On the other hand if they had all 7in and did it as a spoof the way John Culshaw did in one of the christmas Dead Ringers specials, that might just work.

  14. If there was a Doctor Who scene, surely they'd want to promote it for all it was worth rather than using lies, misdirection, and removing it from press releases? Don't get your hopes up.

  15. Well, for certain it won't make watching CIN worthwhile

  16. I am using punctuation so let for get about punctuation I know hartnell troughton pertwee are dead but I relase to the 1st doctor 2nd doctor and 3rd doctor to coming doctor who IN CIN because it will be the ten doctor not seven doctors we need to celebrate 45 years of the doctor who that dr who was born to watch episodes and making all episodes so ten doctors is on away to shown on BBC one novmeber 14th hee haa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. "There are some Children In Need-themed scenes from Doctor Who"
