Fans have been left disappointed by the Karen Gillan signing in Glasgow, yesterday afternoon.
Some 100 fans, including people who had been queueing for hours, were turned away from the signing due to confusion and a breakdown in communication.
Meanwhile, regarding her tenure on the show, Gillan didn't reveal any information, saying she's "just taking it series by series and I’m just having fun. So, I don’t know. I have no idea."
"It’s really funny but it’s also heartbreaking," she said of the upcoming special, "and you get a glimpse into Amy and Rory's honeymoon, which is an interesting one."
Karen also remained tight-lipped about the next series, which will air as part of a split transmission next year.
There was no chaos, you had to queue twice mind you - once for a bracelet and once to get in. About 4 1/2 hours in our case.
ReplyDeleteThe staff read out the rules while people were in the queue and they didn't change. You needed a bracelet to get an item signed or to meet Karen.
If you there by 8:50 you got in.
I appreciate it's disappointing if you missed the cut but numbers are always going to be limited.
"Didn't expect this level of interest"?
ReplyDeleteOne specific staff member relayed inaccurate information to the people who were around the cut-off point in the queue (he did say the policy had changed numerous times due to "BBC" meddling, presumably in an attempt to save face). When we got to the store it became apparent that he had misled a number of people and that's what caused problems (one man ended up being surrounded by security due to his anger).
ReplyDeleteIt was not thought through at all. As someone who's worked at similar events in the past I know the procedure was completely wrong. To be fair though this was the first major event that Hamleys have hosted so hopefully they'll do things differently next time.
