Here is the trailer for David Tennant's next on-screen outing as James Arber in The Decoy Bride. The film will hit cinemas on March 9th with a DVD released on March 12th.

The synopsis reads...

When the wedding of internationally famous film star Lara Tyler (ALICE EVE) to tweedy English author James Arber (DAVID TENNANT) is sabotaged by a paparazzo, they decide to relocate the event to the one place where the world’s press won’t find them: the sleepy Island of Hegg, as featured in James’ bestselling novel The Ornithologists Wife. But to the shock of Lara’s P.A Steve Korbitz (MICHAEL URIE), the reality of the island is different from the romanticised picture James has created (without ever visiting), and he has to transform this fantasy world before the superstar arrives.

However, dilapidated buildings and greedy islanders are the least of the problems that the wedding party and their Hollywood entourage have to deal with, as Marco (FEDERICO CASTELLUCCIO) the ingenious paparazzo tracks them down in his mission to photograph the celebrity wedding of the year.

Steve and his assistant Emma (SALLY PHILLIPS) must find a decoy bride and think that local girl Katie (KELLY MACDONALD) will be an ideal replacement. But when Katie meets James, sparks fly, dresses get ruined and love gets complicated.

Will Katie be able to fool the awaiting media and live up to being a stand-in for the world’s most famous movie star? Can an ordinary girl fill the most famous Manolos on the planet? And whatever will happen to her pledge never, under any circumstances, to fall in love again?

The legend behind the revival of Doctor Who is back with a brand new TV show!

Russell T Davies (the T stands for nothing) is to return to TV with a new television series entitled Aliens vs. Wizards, to be shown on CBBC. Expected to air in Autumn this year, the show sees a 16-year old wizard and his friend battling to save Earth from an alien race: the Nekross.

Writing for children in the biggest challenge of all and I think CBBC stands right at the heart of broadcasting. So I'm delighted to launch this show, a true nationwide collaboration – a Salford commission from a BBC Wales team. We're joining genres too – the show's a wild, funny, thrilling and sometimes scary collision of magic and science fiction.

Davies' last venture was The Sarah Jane Adventures, which ended last year. Another Davies production is also in the works to be shown in the US.

The first is the Fifth (and final) Series, which will be accompanied with the special feature entitled "Goodbye Bannerman Road - Remembering Elisabeth Sladen" including contributions from Matt Smith, amongst others. The second is the complete SJA boxset, including all five series.

BBC Worldwide has announced that Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams), will be joining Matt Smith and Steven Moffat at the ultimate Doctor Who fan event in Cardiff’s Millennium Centre next March.

Further additions to the all-star line-up today include long term Casting Director Andy Pryor, Author and Screenwriter Tom MacRae, Director of Photography Stephan Pehrsson, Script Editor Caroline Henry - and actors Stuart Milligan and Simon Fisher-Becker.

The Convention is a full day event that will give Doctor Who enthusiasts an amazing chance to delve into the inner workings of the hit TV show and learn how it is created – a journey from script to screen. With unique access to the cast and production crew, this event offers fans a rare chance to see behind-the-scenes of the world’s longest running sci-fi show.

At a conference, Moffat said:

"The final days of the Ponds are coming during the next series.I'm not telling you when or how, but that story is going to come to a heartbreaking end... Then The Doctor will meet a new friend."

Yay or nay? Personally, I think we have had enough of the Ponds and we need someone else to hop on board the TARDIS.

Interview: Sophie Aldred

Now I could write a cringeworthy intro about how amazing Sophie Aldred is, but I don't need to. Because she is. And I interviewed her. Also, she has the nicest voice ever.

Mac: Have you been enjoying today's show?
Sophie: It's been a fantastic event! I arrived a little late because of the trains, but it has been so lovely to catch up with everybody again, particularly the girls - Katy Manning, Sarah Sutton and Deborah Watling. It's always so lovely to have a good old chinwag with them and get together.

Mac: So in The Sarah Jane Adventures, Sarah Jane addressed many companions and one of them was Dorothy, who supposedly ran a charity called A Charitable Earth, the initials being A.C.E. What do you think Ace would be doing in 2011?
Sophie: Well when I first heard that, I thought, Oh no, I can't imagine Ace doing charity work! And then I had another think and thought, well actually, if she was doing anything it would be like Greenpeace, direct action in space, and I actually thought that it was a really great idea that she could be behaving her normal self and using unorthodox methods but helping and giving to people who needed it.

Mac: It was reported a few months ago that you were doing a Cbeebies show with David Tennant. How's that going?
Sophie: It's going really well! We're actually having a preview next week, I think. So we're just going to be seeing a couple of episodes on the big screen. It's actually coming out in March and David and I are just starting to film a few things for publicity, so watch this space!

Mac: Great! When I was younger, I remember you on Words and Pictures and then a few years later on Zzzap! as Minnie the Magician. Would you say that your home was on children's TV?
Sophie: I guess. I suppose that's what i did a lot of. Perhaps I'll come back and do some 'grown up' TV? I did do some grown up TV, but not as much as children's. I do love working for children and it was wonderful time I had doing those things but maybe when I come back, I'll be a bit old so maybe I'll have to do some grown-up telly. We all have to grow up eventually! (chuckles)

Mac: And finally, how do you feel about Ace's fanbase running strong to this day?!
Sophie: Oh I am so delighted! Without the fans, we wouldn't get the opportunity to come here and meet up with each other and have a laugh. I really, seriously believe that there would not have been a new series if it was not for the support of the fans. So yeah, keep 'em coming!

Mac: Thank you so much for the interview!
Sophie: Oh my pleasure!

Amongst many other things, many of you probably know Frances Barber for playing the evil/marvellous Madame Kovarian. In a fit of excited nerves, I caught up with the super-actress to chat about her role on the show and more!

Mac: Hi Frances, I'm such a fan!
Frances: Well I'm glad!

Mac: So to start off... to the viewer, Moffat's storylines are sometimes quite complex. When you first got your scripts, did you feel the same way about the stories?
Frances: Well, I personally found them quite complicated to understand, I have to admit! But then I am not the sort of Doctor Who expert, and I thought maybe it was just me who didn't understand and that I was a bit dim, but now I understand that they were complicated for everyone. They end up making sense in the long run, but when you get them episode-by-episode, they get a bit complicated.

Mac: Were you a fan of Doctor Who before you joined?
Frances: A massive fan, yes! And when it started again with Chris Eccleston and Russell T Davies, I was desperate to be in it. And everyone else seemed to be in it except me, so I was so thrilled to be asked. And I have to say, Matt Smith is a sensational Doctor and he's probably my favourite.

Mac: So out of all the episodes you did, which would you say was your favourite?
Frances: Erm... I mean, the one that I suppose was my most favourite to film was the last one because Amy kills me and we think she kills me and we don't know because it was a different time line etcetera etcetera, but that was fun because we were all there together with River Song and I really enjoyed that.

Mac: What was your initial reaction when you read about the strange method in which the Doctor would escape his death?
Frances: Well I was just as surprised as everyone else, to be honest. I presume even Matt was surprised! So like everyone it was like, Wow, look at that! When I saw the first episode with the Astronaut coming from the deep, I just thought it was one of the most exciting episodes I've ever seen. So I knew that it was going to be super clever.

Mac: So I was doing some research on your fantastically eclectic career; you've done theatre, films, TV... out of everything you've done, what would you say was the most enriching or rewarding?
Frances: It's really hard to answer that question because I am in the lucky position to have so many different things with so many actors so I always like to believe that the next job will be just as exciting and as wonderful as the others. I've love doing theatre and film and Doctor Who.

Mac: Did you have fun playing Madame Kovarian?
Frances: Oh yes I loved it! I relished every second of it! (laughs)

Mac: With Doctor Who comes a massive fanbase, (and I have been following your zany tweets!) How would you say you have reacted to this massive fan universe that you've been thrown into?
Frances: Oh I have to say I have absolutely adored it! All the Doctor Who fans are really respectful, they are really knowledgeable. I mean, I think that's the biggest thing that they're respectful and courteous and I am loving the fact that, like at the last convention I did, girls came dressed as Madame Kovarian! And I was so chuffed and blown away by that.
Mac: Yes they do make an effort!
Frances: Yes, by their dedication and the huge effort they made and it's really appreciative. So yes, I am loving it! And I return every fan letter I get as soon as I possibly can!

Mac: Would you ever return to the show?
Frances: Oh I'd leap at it in a heartbeat!

Mac: Thank you so much, Frances!
Frances: It has been my pleasure!

Is there a MOVIE in the works?!

Apparently, director, David Yates, is teaming up with the BBC to make a Doctor Who movie.

According to Variety, Yates is working with Jane Tranter, who is the LA head of BBC Worldwide, previously Head of Fiction at the BBC until 2008.

"We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," he said. "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena."

Yates says that the movie will not be continuing from Russell T Davies' or Steven Moffat's writing, confirming that "we have to put that aside and start from scratch."

Doctor Who has had a bunch of films in the past, the most recent being the 1996 movie, starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor.

The news is quite an exciting prospect, but let's hope it doesn't ruin the 'Britishness' of the show by making it American (see: Shameless, Skins etc.)

Elisabeth Sladen's Autobiography to launch at Doctor Who Experience

To celebrate the publication of Elisabeth Sladen's posthumous autobiography and her amazing life, Aurum Press will be hosting a one-off event at the Doctor Who Experience. Elisabeth's daughter, Sadie Miller, the 4th Doctor: Tom Baker, and Doctor Who writer and producer Terrance Dicks will be in conversation with TV Choice magazine's Ben Lawrence, discussing the life and their memories of Elisabeth Sladen in the screening room at the Doctor Who Experience at 2.30pm on November 26th.

The event is free to Doctor Who Experience ticket holders. As there are only a limited number of spaces available they will need to book a slot in advance. To do this, visitors must select 12.30pm/ 1pm or 2pm time slot on Saturday 26th November. When they select their ticket type they will also have the option to select ‘Elisabeth Sladen book launch entry’. They will then be issued with a separate ticket for this.

BBC announces first Doctor Who convention!

BBC Worldwide have revealed that they will be hosting the first ever Doctor Who convention on the 24th and 25th March 2012 at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Wales.

There are only 1500 tickets available for each day and it is certainly not something you would want to miss! The convention promises a whole host of stars, including Matt Smith and Steven Moffat! You can also get a once-in-a-lifetime insight into the mechanics behind Doctor Who, with Danny Hargreaves, Michael Pickwoad, Marcus Wilson and the Millennium FX team also in attendance!

According to their press release,

The unique interactive programme will include theatre sessions and Q&As with cast and crew; behind the scenes sessions show-casing the script to screen process; discussions with episode directors and writers and demonstrations from Special FX and prosthetics experts that will illustrate the challenges and scale of their work on the world’s longest running sci-fi show. Autograph and photo opportunities will also be available with attending cast members and there will be official Doctor Who merchandise and collectables on sale.

Tickets are priced at £99 and will go on sale at 9pm on November 14th here.

Review: Elisabeth Sladen - The Autobiography

With its origins way back in 2009, Doctor Who fans everywhere were eagerly awaiting the release of the much-loved Elisabeth Sladen's autobiography. After her unfortunate and untimely death in April 2011, the prospect became unheard of, until a few months ago, when we were told that the posthumous autobiography was going to be released in November.

Although at first I had slight doubts about the book, the prologue alone dispelled any and every concern. In it, David Tennant reminisces on his first day at work where he met Elisabeth Sladen, and the absolute awe he had for her, saying that the scenes they shared were "the most thrilling [he] had on Doctor Who."

Throughout the book, a similar feeling of awe resonated in me, and I am sure, in every reader too. Elisabeth's effortless introspective narrative shifted between her time on The Sarah Jane Adventures, and her time on Doctor Who, reflecting the similar importance she had of both.

Between the illustrious and heart-warming memories Elisabeth shares with us is a selection of photographs, highlighting key moments in Elisabeth's life. It was interesting to see the various newspaper clippings from her personal collection, including photos of her time with various Doctors. Most interesting was a Midsummer's Night Dream programme, a production which starred Helen Mirren! "In a toss up between me and Helen Mirren, I was voted 'Most Likely to Succeed!'" she remarked.

Elisabeth's witty and detailed anecdotes on her time as Sarah Jane Smith gives a real insight into the mind of such a talented actress, someone who has achieved so much and experienced a lot too. Whilst reading the autobiography, it almost felt as if Elisabeth's warm voice was pouring over every word: her endearing sighs at bygone disappointments, her surprised tones at shocking discoveries and her gentle laughter at the humorous memories.

Brian and Sadie Miller's epilogue really summed up why Elisabeth Sladen was so fantastic both on-screen and off. Her passion and devotion to both her work and her family paid off and she will be forever remembered as the hard-working and appreciative actress whose presence was like a glimmering hope and whose death shall always be regarded as one of the most heartbreaking of them all.

The Winter Memorabilia, held at the NEC in Birmingham, is set to be one of their biggest yet.

What Can Doctor Who Do Next Year?

We have a very long time to wait for the next series, and here's hoping it's a good one! That's not to say that Series 6 wasn't any good; it was, but here are four issues which we believe could be improved in the next series...

1. Address Melody Pond
Amy and Rory's baby is lost somewhere in time and space. Yes, they have seen her as an adult, but what about all those lost years as a baby? Surely Amy and Rory have the parental compassion to actually have her back or at least talk about not having her with them?

2. End the arc
It gets annoying when you have to wait three years for a question to be answered, so please end the arc at the end of this series! We want to know more about the Silence and we want the question to be answered, or at least addressed.

3. Amy and Rory are getting lame-y and snore-y
Okay, maybe that was a bit harsh, but please introduce some more long-term companions! One of the main reasons why Russell T Davies' stories worked so well is that he put emphasis on his characters. Maybe having a story where we follow one character around on her daily routine would do something good for the series.

4. Continue to surprise
Having said all of that, Moffat must know that his surprises are amazing and he should keep doing them!

The star, who we all know and love as Wilf, has a large range of credits to his name, including being the narrator in The Wombles and starring in The Railway Children.

According to the BBC, Bernard said had no intention of retiring, adding: "I love it, I can't stop, why should I? I'm still able to read and write."

BBC Books have revealed that they have launched the Doctor Who Encyclopedia on an iPad app.

According to Doctor Who Online,

It allows you to scroll your way through a complete A-Z of the show and explore and search thousands of entries by series or episode. You will discover the Doctor’s fiercest enemies, closest allies and key places and objects and have the opportunity to preview and buy those must-have episodes.

The app contains over 3000 entries and each entry includes links to episodes, people, places and objects that relate to it. Additionally, each entry has an episode reference, allowing you to search the Encyclopedia by episode or series – so you can find out all you ever need to know about the Doctor, his allies, enemies and everywhere he’s ever visited. You can also preview episodes and buy your favourites directly from iTunes.

The initial purchase of the app will be priced at £4.99 and will include all of the Eleventh Doctor’s content. Further downloads at £4.99 each include all Ninth and Tenth Doctor content.

"We work very long hours every day for nine months. The schedule is pretty brutal, but I'd never complain about it. I love playing this role, and I don't want to give it up any time soon," he continued.

It's nearly Halloween, and to celebrate the spooky festivities, we have compiled our Top 5 scary stories, perfect for watching on a cold, Hallows night!

5. The Talons of Weng-Chiang
Set in the late 1800s in Victorian England, The Talons of Weng-Chiang sent shivers down many a spine! Although a modern-day audience wouldn't care less about the giant rat in the sewers, I think it's safe to say that the contemporary audience were shocked to their boots, with ratings of around 10 million being returned for the six-part story.

4. The Waters of Mars
If the looming end of the Tenth Doctor wasn't enough, Russell and Co gave us this unpleasantly amazing story about a desolate space station on Mars in the distant future... with a problem. The Doctor can't meddle with time, or can he? One particularly frightening aspect of the story was not the gruesome infected humans, but the futile arrogance of the Doctor...

3. The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances
It was one of Moffat's best and it remains to be! Set in the bleak Britz during World War Two, the Doctor and Rose (with Captain Jack) encounter the scariest creature yet... a child.

2. The Unquiet Dead
Criticism aside, if Gatiss did anything right, it was The Unquiet Dead. The story itself was captured in a true, Dickensian spirit with the haunting Christmassyness and the gaseous Gelth, who should definitely make a comeback!

With closing time for the Save Doctor Who Confidential petition coming up, we caught up with the person behind the campaign to discuss it and more...

What were your reasons behind the campaign?

My heart sank when I heard the news and not many shows that get axed have that effect on me like DWC did. I was actually surprised at how much I cared about the show. You don't know what you got till it's gone I guess. You just realise the good things it did and how sad it is to take it away from people. ALOT of people on Twitter we're complaining about the cancellation of the show on Twitter so something had to be done to amplify that annoyance, these people pay for a television licence and they have had a great show taken away from them so something needed to be done. Having seen the Script to Screen clip [below] I realised how terrible it actually was to cancel such a great show, a show like this reaching out to kids are very hard to come by. I just wish I had this show when I was a kid, I think I would have changed my view on television.

How have you found the support so far? Has anything shocked you?

Everyday I'm surprised at the amount of support and the amount of media coverage and the fact that Steven Moffat agrees really makes me happy. What Steven said in Doctor Who Magazine really answers your first question, he's hit the nail on the head.

Out of all the 'behind the scenes' counterparts the BBC have created (Heroes Unmasked, Torchwood Declassified etc.), Doctor Who Confidential remains the most successful. Why do you think that is?

Well, Doctor Who Confidential has helped new Doctor Who fans out with understanding the show; most New Who fans I know told me that DWC helped them understand what all the fuss was about. It's also helped a lot of people decide what they want to do at college. Not many shows have an influence like this on people, it's so much more than being just about Doctor Who it's grown and developed into so much more than that and that is why it has lasted until now. But Confidential was evolving into interesting areas and reaching out to schools with the Script to Screen competition. Not many shows can say they do the same or care about people the way confidential have. This is the kind of shows that we should have on our TV screens: informative and entertaining.

If Doctor Who Confidential came back on another platform (e.g. the website only), would that suffice?

It would be great if it came back on website only, however, not everybody has the internet. A lot of people in rural areas would still lose the show so I can't help but feel it should still be on TV as it deserves that platform. I personally feel, the Red Button could be a possibility. So after Doctor Who you could press your red button and access the show that way.

And finally, out of the 80+ episodes and 6 series of DWC, what have been your favourite moments?

My favourite moments... David Tennant's Farewell, the introduction of the Eleventh Doctor, the story of River Song and finally the Script to Screen.

So many people say to us that they use Confidential to keep up if they have missed any episodes, so to lose that for those casual viewers will be concerning to me for one.

Reminder: 'Save Doctor Who Confidential' Petition

The petition to save Doctor Who Confidential will end this Friday (28th) when it will be sent to the BBC Trust.

The petition, now at nearly 50,000 signatures, started after the BBC announced that they were axing Doctor Who Confidential due to budget cuts, saying that "our priority now is to build on original British commissions, unique to the channel."

Steven Moffat recently spoke about the axing, commenting on it being a "bad decision" because the "show was watched and loved everywhere."

We loved Ocean and Minty, so in our fantasy SJA series, they would return and continue to be generally amazing in a mocking yet endearing way.

Sky becomes Queen!
Of course, the finale would involve the Fleshkind coming to Earth to rescue Sky, claiming that she is the new Queen of the Fleshkind... but what do they really want with her? (hint hint - the Fleshkind are really Slitheen who want to capture her and trade her with the Fleshkind to buy their planet!)

It's nearly Halloween, or as we are calling it this year, Wholoween. This week, Planet Gallifrey will be giving you all sorts of terrifying tips and spooky site content to mark the occasion. Check out some of our favourite games below, which you can play with your friends or family!

Who Taboo
Before the party, grab some paper and cut it up into 8 rectangles. On each piece, write the name of a Doctor Who alien or character at the top and then four words associated with the alien. Fold all the pieces of paper in half and put them in a box or a hat. Get your friends to pick one and then stand up in front of everyone. The aim of the game is to describe the alien or character without using the words below! To make it even more competitive, split your friends into teams and award sweets as prizes.

Cyber-Pinata
To play this, make a pinata and design it to look like a Cyberman's head (grey paint galore!) Make sure you play this in a large space, like a garden. Take it in turns to smash the cyber-pinata, and the winner gets all the sweets!

Monster Mash
To make your friends scream and squirm, fill up some shoeboxes with items of different textures, like mashed up bananas or muesli. Cut a hole at the side of the box, big enough to put your hand in, but not so big that they can see everything inside it! Get your friends to guess what's in the boxes. To spice things up a bit, hide plastic ~~spiders~~ racnoss to creep out your friends!

Treasure Hunt
If you have lots of friends, you might want to think about making a treasure hunt for them. Cut out about 8 pieces of card and write a clue on each one, leading to where the next one is hidden. Try to make your clues as cryptic as possible to keep your friends guessing! The treasure could be anything of your choice, but we recommend a lovely box of jelly worms (we like jelly worms.)

Series 6 Boxset to include mini episodes

The first four episodes are all connected, and set pretty much entirely in the TARDIS. Well, given that he doesn’t need as much sleep as we humans, he has adventures, of course – adventures with a certain flame-haired lady friend…

Steven Moffat:
On the Doctor’s fame: “We’re going to explore that properly next series. The Doctor’s project is to sort of erase himself from history because there’s only so many times you can stand and boast at Stonehenge”
On the heavier story arc: “I don’t think Doctor Who will ever be as arc-driven again”

Due to the increased interest from the title ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’, Moffat has told the writers to really “slut it up” and “write it like a movie poster. Let’s do big, huge, mad ideas”

On Amy, Rory and River: “I do have an end game for all of them”

On River: “You realise you’ve learned nothing. She may or may not be married to the Doctor, depending on whether that was actually a marriage ceremony, or whether it counts if he’s inside a giant robot replica of himself”

On his future as showrunner: “Even though I’m more tired than I’ve ever been, I don’t feel any impulse to leave”

Matt Smith:
On the first two episodes: “Steven told me the pitch for episodes 1 and 2 and it’s so brilliant. I got really excited. It’s got lots of things I like. There are some extraordinary times ahead”

On his 2012 and beyond: “I get to go into the 50th anniversary which is really cool. That’s incredibly exciting”

On the Series 7 break: “It’s a risk, I guess. But a good one”

Karen Gillan:
Karen says she is very happy about her role in Series 7 but adds: “When I leave properly, that’s it. I don’t want Amy to pop up again every so often, because for me it would take away from the big, emotional goodbye. I’m definite on that”
On whether Amy could be killed off: “I think it could be done, if you tackled it right. Not that I wouldn’t love to pop back every so often. But just in terms of how it’s remembered…once she’s gone, she’s gone. So death could be an option”

Moffat speaks out on Confidential axing

Showrunner Steven Moffat has been talking to Doctor Who Magazine about the axing of Doctor Who Confidential, and he had this to say:

“It seems hard to grasp. All shows have their time, and all shows end, but not, in all sanity, while people still watch and love them,” he says in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine. “And going by the numbers and the outcry, this show was watched and loved everywhere.”

He adds: “I’m not supposed to say it, but I’m going to anyway: bad day, bad decision. I know these are straitened times. I know we’re all at sea and the night is colder – but you don’t start burning the lifeboats to keep warm.

“Or to put it another way, you might want to think about the future if you’re planning to live there.”

Meanwhile, the petition to save Doctor Who Confidential is currently at over 45,000 signatures and you can do your bit by signing it here. The petition will be sent to the BBC Trust on October 28th.

'Doctor Who Experience' gets ready for Halloween

The notoriously creepy Peg Dolls from Night Terrors made a visit to the Brook Green Children's Playground in London last night on their way to the pant-wetting Doctor Who Experience, set to scare during Half-Term and Halloween!

And especially for Friday 28th October, any child in a Doctor Who costume will be granted free entry! Doctor Who choreographer Alisa Berk will also be holding a class on that day to teach kids how to impersonate Who monsters and villains.

Sunday 30th October is set to be the scariest night yet, with live monsters entering the arena for the first time, with visitors having the rare opportunity to meet the monsters up close.

After 5 series, 54 episodes and a whole lot of fun, Sarah Jane Adventures ended today. To celebrate the wonderful TV show that left us giggling, crying and screaming with joy, we look back at out top 5 episodes.

5. The Mark of the Berserker
By removing the focus on Sarah Jane, this story was amazing in capturing Clyde and Rani at their best, as well as going deeper into Clyde's family and exploring their relationship. The fabulous acting from Daniel Anthony, Joceyln Jee Esien and Gary Beadle was the icing on the haunting cake. And we got to see Rani meet Maria!

4. Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?
Although scary, the Trickster proved to the perfect nemesis for Sarah Jane Smith in being the total opposite to her. Not only did we get to see, for the first time ever, Sarah Jane's background, but we also saw Elisabeth and Sarah Jane at one of their finest points, both in acting and in character.

3. The Lost Boy
Nobody expected it, but Mr Smith turning evil is a classic SJA moment and one of the finest to come out of Doctor Who. The scene was made even better with the return of the good ~~old~~ new K9! Kudos on the writers for tricking us, and Sarah Jane, into believing that Mr Smith was good!

2. Death of the Doctor
It was every fanboy's dream come true... Sarah Jane Smith and Jo Grant - in one episode? With the Doctor?! Written by RUSSELL T DAVIES? (Need I say more?)

1. The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith
Truly amazing acting from Elisabeth, especially in the final scene where she has to say goodbye to her love... Even though the Doctor wasn't the reason the episode was amazing, the cast really gelled well and the hauntingly beautiful storyline makes this Planet Gallifrey's number one Sarah Jane Adventures story!

And the story goes on... forever.

According to the latest figures, Doctor Who's popularity has certainly not decreased, with iPlayer racking up 153 million requests in September.

Digital Spy reported that 'The Girl Who Waited' came at number one with 1.16m requests, and 'Night Terrors' at number two with 1.12m. 'The God Complex' and 'Closing Time' came fourth and fifth respectively with 1.01m and 965,000.

Time up for Doctor Who?

The Guardian have posted an interesting article on Doctor Who, check it out here!

God love the BBC, but they do make some baffling decisions. In Doctor Who, they have more than a TV show, they have a national institution. So what do they do? Monkey around with its scheduling – a split series this year, and the next 13 episodes to be spread across 2012 and 2013 in some unspecified way, like it's some failed American import that no one knows what to do with. Even worse, BBC1's controller, Danny Cohen, put the blame on the showrunner, Steven Moffat, who also executive produces Sherlock. Moffat took to Twitter to respond: "The scheduling of Dr Who has got NOTHING to do with Sherlock", so I'm guessing there was a frosty atmosphere the next time the pair met.

Then there's the penny-pinching: I can't quite believe they scored the coup of getting Neil Gaiman to write an episode, then told him he couldn't have a new monster and would have to make do with a recycled Ood.

Hey guys!

Just a little post to say that due to educational commitments, I will not be posting much for a long while. Of course, every Saturday will have a review and stuff of the episode, but aside from that, I won't be putting much up. There will be some automated stuff like the 'Did You Know?'s and Steve will be posting his uh-mayzing Classic Who reviews so enjoy them!

Hopefully I will be able to return to the 'flow' soon, but I hope you appreciate that 'life' stuff comes first!

Whether you like it or not, the Doctor is a bonafide fashion icon. Every Doctor has had a certain grandeur with his garb, so have a gander at Planet Gallifrey's pick of his top 5 fashion phenomenon.

5. ????????
The question marks may have been gaudy, but they certainly made an impression! It was probably also the only time the Doctor has referenced the show's name in his clothing... how very daring.

4. Fez' are cool
A relatively recent addition to the 'Who' fashion collection is the Eleventh Doctor's fez. Originally being a source of ridicule in the show, it was gracefully destroyed by River Song at the end of Series 5. I don't think anyone expected it to last long anyone, the red didn't suit him!

3. I'm wearing a vegetable!
The Fifth Doctor donning cricket attire was a marvellous decision, but what made it better was the piece of celery on his lapel. I mean, CELERY. You can't get any better than that, can you?

2. Conversely Speaking
Forget the brown pinstripe suit. Forget the coat that Janis Joplin gave him. The Converses that the Tenth Doctor wore were the 'it' thing of 2006. Not only did they perfectly sum up the Tenth Doctor, but they also became a trademark for Doctor Who fans everywhere (i.e. if you see someone wearing a Converse, they are probably a Doctor Who fan.) But leave the suit/Converse ensemble to the Doctor to pull off.

1. The Scarf
'The Scarf' and 'Doctor Who' almost go hand in hand, even to this day. The legendary knitted creation, supposedly made by Madame Nostradamus, was a personal favourite of the Fourth Doctor's with his bohemian attire. Apparently, Begonia Pope (who made the real scarf) was not told how long it was meant to be and subsequently, ended up using all the wool which was given to her. The producers loved it and it became the Fourth Doctor's trademark. There have also been many variations of the scarf popping up from time to time to cheekily reference it, including appearances in the 1996 movie and The Christmas Invasion.

Over £12,000 raised for 'Walk For Lis'

You may remember us recommending this a few months ago in our '10 Thing To Do When Doctor Who Is Not On' post, but Edward Russell's 'Walk for Lis' has now hit £12,242.85, which is an astonishing achievement and certainly a testament to the love and support of Doctor Who fans for Elisabeth Sladen.

Edward began on the 3rd September and here is his plan:

I am going to walk 160 miles from Cardiff to London!

I'm walking in order to raise money for Meadow House Hospice. This NHS-funded facility recently cared for Elisabeth Sladen, known to many of you as Sarah Jane Smith from the TV series Doctor Who.

Like many of her fans and friends, I was deeply saddened by Lis' death in April 2011 and I hope to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful cause. More details and a target sum are to follow.

Starting on Saturday 3 September, I will walk from the BBC's Upper Boat studios in Cardiff (where SJA was filmed), aiming to arrive at the BBC Television Centre (where Lis first filmed Doctor Who) in London the following Friday. I will largely be following the National Cycling Route No. 4 - walking the equivellent of a marathan every day!

The final viewing figures for Let's Kill Hitler now stand at 8.1 million, after the timeshift viewers were added. The episode itself had a massive impact on iPlayer where nearly 1 million people watched it, but these were not counted.

Meanwhile, last night's Night Terrors aired with a respectable 5.5 million. These figures are dead cert to go up in the next eight days.
