SERIES 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never mind about series 4, The Doctor is back! And he's moving forward not backwards, upwards not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling!
This is what the BBC has to say about it:

After months of media speculation, the BBC can confirm that the BAFTA award-winning Doctor Who will return for a fifth series in Spring 2010.

Series Four, which went into production in July 2007, will hit UK screens in Spring 2008, followed by a special episode for Christmas 2008.

In 2009 Doctor Who will return with three specials starring David Tennant, with Head Writer, Russell T Davies.

The full-length fifth series will transmit in 2010.

Jane Tranter, Controller, BBC Fiction, says: "Doctor Who is one of the BBC's best loved and most successful dramas. Its journey over the past three series has been one of the most ambitious and exciting that we have had, and I'm delighted to be able to confirm not only three exciting specials for 2009, but a fifth series in 2010. "

Menna Richards, Controller, BBC Wales, says: "The success of Doctor Who is a fantastic tribute to the dedication and expertise of the production team at BBC Wales who have worked on the project from the outset. This announcement is marvellous news for all involved, and more importantly for the programme's amazing fan base and audience. BBC Wales is looking forward to producing the fifth series."

Tribute for Ten

Well... he is a bit of a hero, isn't he?

No Number 8

Paul McGann may only have had a short stint as the Eighth Doctor during the attempted revival of “Doctor Who” back in 1996, but it wasn’t too long ago there were rumors that his Doctor may be in for a comeback. Unfortunately, however, it looks like those reports were nothing but fiction.

“I’ve heard as well, yeah I’ve heard,” McGann told SyFy Portal’s Alan Stanley Blair during the recent Collectormania convention in Glasgow, Scotland. “Well they haven’t called me, but often you hear it first through rumor. But you know … yeah I’d go back and do it … as long as I don’t have to wear a wig.”

Children In Need

Oh yes, if this story is to be believed, Peter Davison, aka the fifth Doctor, will be appearing alongside David Tennant in a Children in Need special later this year.

Why the excitement? Well, if this turns out to be true (another Doctor Who actor, Sylvester McCoy, apparently let this slip on stage at a convention), it’s one of the remaining grails left for Russell T Davies to give the fans. We’ve had Daleks, Cybermen and the Master, and aside from a couple of fripperies, the fabled “multi-Doctor” event is about all that’s left.

Series 4 Casting

TELLY legend Bernard Cribbins has been signed up for the Doctor Who Christmas special.

Producer Phil Collinson was tight-lipped about who he would play — but revealed getting the 78-year-old on board was “the icing on the cake”.

“He’s a wonderful addition to a phenomenal cast,” said Phil. “It’s a wonderful cameo which kept the entire cast and crew entertained.”

Bernard — narrator of The Wombles in the 1970s — starred in 1966 movie Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 AD, which featured Peter Cushing as Dr Who.

He joins a slew of ageing British stars in the Xmas episode, The Voyage Of the Damned.

These include Clive Swift, 71 (long-suffering Richard Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances) and Geoffrey Palmer, 80 — best known as grumpy Lionel in the Beeb’s As Time Goes By.
