Part Two clip!

Huge news day today, eh?

Okay, so on the Who on Who radio programme, they played a little audio clip of the second part. Here is the clip for people who want it, of course, don't click play if you don't want to hear it! :D

Transcript (highlight to view):
Master: Tell me. Where's your TARDIS?
Doctor: You could be so wonderful
Master: Where is it?
Doctor: You're a genius, you're stone-cold brilliant, you are. I swear you really are, but you could be so much more, you could be beautiful, with a mind like that, we could travel the stars. It would be my honour, because you don't need to own the universe, just see it. You have the privilege to see the whole and time and space. That's ownership enough.
Master: Would it stop then? The noise in my head?
Doctor: I can help
Master: I don't know what I would be without that noise.
Doctor: Wonder what I'd be without you.
Master: Yeah

Also, we have the clip to fit with this audio, shown on Alan Carr: Chatty Man  on the 29th.

The End of Time - Part One

I have had some messages from American fans saying that it's unfair on them because they can't get BBC America. Well, I have decided to put up links to the episodes on YouTube :)

These people have put The End of Time online:

By the way, you American fans, Part One is on TODAY on your tellyboxes, so there is no need to watch it online :) Also, it's hard to post links to videos like that because they'll, of course, be removed from YouTube etc. by the BBC.

RTD Speaks

I am trying to hard not to say anything to many international fans who haven't seen it yet but that was AMAZING. Meanwhile, Russell has been talking to Digital Spy!

This section is quite interesting:
How hard is writing a regeneration scene?
"You don’t know if there’s going to be one! Nice try. Well I’ve written two already; one for Chris and a fake one for David. The whole show keeps you on your toes. I can’t promise you anything. You think you’re going to see a regeneration, but I can’t say you’re going to see anything for the reason you think you’re going to see. We get more viewers each year by playing this game with people that we don’t give away too much."

Tennant and Tate at Christmas

Thank you to the BBC for putting these clips up on their YouTube channel! We have some sneak previews of Nan's Christmas Carol and Hamlet, starring Catherine Tate and David Tennant, respectively. David also pops up in Nan's Christmas Carol as the Ghost of Christmas Present!

Nan's Christmas Carol

Hamlet

Shh... Spoilers!

There have been many spoilers floating around the internet and many of them have been leaked versions of what happens in The End of Time. One particular one, many of you may know this as the Virgin Media one, actually described most of what happened in the first episode, bar the ending.

Now, as this is going to be the best 2+ hours of this year for nearly everyone, I will not be putting up any spoilers as such. If you want to read them at your own will, you may do so but I will not be directing you to them. Obviously, as the days draw closer to Part 1, more information will be released about the episode(s).

I would also ask you to refrain from posting links and speaking about those spoilers in the cbox. Failure to comply will lead to banning and removal of posts. Sorry, but that is the action which should be taken as this is a Doctor Who press site and we should not be glorifying any leaked information as such.

Thanks :)

More from the Press Screening

Den of Geek's report is generally spoiler-free but they do say that if you want to watch the episode cold, look away now... Here is a snip:

The bringing back of The Master, and the episode gets down to business very quickly, isn’t quite so impressively done, although it's done quite swiftly. It’s also utterly fair to say that he’s even more insane than he was in The Last Of The Time Lords. This is not a quiet and reserved Master at all, and we suspect he'll remain as divisive as the last time we saw him. We've always liked The Master a lot though, so were pleased to see him, and he does get some quite scary moments. He comes across as frenetic, random, hungry and very, very dangerous.

Total SciFi Online also have a report, which is more spoiler-y than the above! As ever, if you want to know nothing, then don't read :)

Along with Cribbins, Simm is the driving force of this episode, utterly different from his Harold Saxon persona from two years back, yet totally the same character in his wild-eyed, evil genius. Several Master moments in the episode are genuinely scary, and yet wonderfully funny at the same time. It’s a perfect combination for a man who reviles yet revels in his own lunacy, and makes for unforgettable telly. The fact that the Master seems to have no distinct plan until late in the episode makes it all the more breathtaking when it finally kicks in – and reminds us how terrifying a Time Lord can be, if you don’t have him on your side.

Annnnd we have some videos too!

Reportageness on the End of Time screening

SFX were there to see part 1: Here is a niggle...

Best of all, the episode was amazing. Stunning. Brilliant. The best Christmas Day Doctor Who special yet. Not perfect, but hugely entertaining. But we’re not going to give too much away. We may have unwrapped this particular present early, but we're only going to let you shake it a bit. Trust us, this review is not going to spoil your fun; we had the pleasure of sitting there through so many, “Oooohhhhh!" moments it'd be a shame if you were robbed of them. In fact, try to avoid as many previews as possible in the papers and magazines, in case – by design or accident – they give away the last few minutes leading up the cliffhanger. It’s a doozy – one of Doctor Who's all time classic "out-there" concepts – and you really don't want to know it before Christmas Day. If you think that the masses of preview footage that has been released so far means that you’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect from this episode, then you’re wrong. There are plenty of surprises in store.

You'll also get to meet the Master unlike you’ve ever seen him before, physically and in terms of his character. You get to see a LOT of the Master and he’s magnificent throughout. If anything John Simm steals the show, but you get the feeling Tennant is going to steal it back big time in part two.

And talking of Wilf, Bernard Cribbins is just magnificent. He seems to hold a universe of sadness in his eyes and yet still cracks you up. Cribbins certainly deserves his name in the opening credits alongside Tennant and Simm.

Alien Armies Competition Winner

Very very sorry about the delay - school and exams have been taking up much of the time!

Congratulations to
Sean Olding
for his delightful entry for the competition!

What does Doctor Who mean to me?

To me, Doctor Who is everything the human race can do, can’t do, could do, will do, will never do. It is everything we dream. It is the opportunity to enjoy something so amazing, that given the chance, no matter what anyone says about the show, any human would take, in just forty-five indescribable minutes. Every adventure is another dream, every enemy is another nightmare, and every dramatic finale is the chance to glimpse what the soul of a God is really like. It is the most famous modern day British icon, next only to Winston Churchill, in my opinion, and it is gazed upon as cool, geeky, pathetic, awesome, funny - but to me, it is ALL of those things, because you can’t have a show without any of that. When I watched the return of the Master in Utopia, I was shivering because the story arc was so brilliant, and only an amazingly awesome show could grip me like that. Doctor Who is a chance to tell my family to shut up at Christmas because I want to watch it. To me, Doctor Who is the only story we’ll ever tell if we get out alive!

Your entry was descriptive and really enjoyable to read! Well done Sean! Check your email quickly :)

Christmas at the BBC!

Thanks to the marvellous Gallifrey Base News, who have complied this treasure; it contains every DW-related show over the Xmas period so you don't miss anything!

As well as the fantastic idents over Christmas, the BBC have also released these two lovely things!

And, we have previews of Catherine Tate, David Tennant and Bernard Cribbins on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, to be shown TOMORROW on BBC TWO!

BEWARE: It has Jo Whiley's man voice, David Tennant's average performing and Catherine Tate's lack of knowledge! Haha! :P

Holy Mother Of God!

Scottish TV played this immense clip of The End of Time today... 100 billion thanks to Cameron K McEwan for uploading this!!

And if you're wondering what's up with the side of the website, well it went a bit awry but I am working on it :)

EDIT: This is, of course, not the end of the Tenth Doctor... but what Russell may be doing in these final two episodes, is hurting the Doctor in many ways to make us think he's dead, and when we finally give up and say 'Oh he's gonna be alive after this...' he regenerates...! :O

A Noble End?

MEGA SPOILERS!

The latest Radio Times suggests that Donna and Wilf might be seeing the end. From the quote:

"How much you want the Doctor to triumph, how much you fear for Donna, how much you dread the Master, how much Bernard Cribbins can make you laugh one minute and cry the next. It's all about those wonderful actors, filling your screen and making you care."

"Bernard can break your heart with a look, a gesture, a smile. That's why he;s the perfect companion for the tenth Doctor;s final tale - two wise old men, fighting the good fight. But every soldier must give up the battle in the end, and
poor old Wilf has some terrible reckonings to come."

"There were a lot of last scenes for us all," explains Davies. "The
last day with poor old Wilf, Donna's final words, the last day on the TARDIS, the last time David used his sonic screwdriver. There was a lot of emotion on set. The most awful moment came with the four knocks..."

Russell also speaks of the Master:

"It's personal for the Doctor. The Master is his enemy, his opposite, and yet so tantalisingly close to being his soul mate. There's something epic about their sheer existence - the last two survivors of an ancient race. It's a clash of the titans. Both of them are heading for death, and yet both are determined to survive - at any cost!"

THANKS TO HEATHER FOR THE QUOTES

It's the Tenth Doctor's final journey – but his psychotic nemesis the Master has been reborn, on Christmas Eve. End of Time MADNESS!!! :D

In the latest commentary, Russell T Davies, Julie Gardner and David Tennant talk of some stuff which MAY be of very interesting interest; so interestingly mad that I can't even type at the moment! :D

Russell: ...because long ago the Ood said, "I think your song is sending soon,"
David: Yup,
Russell: They knew, but how do they know? How can Ood be that psychic and that intelligent? How? What's happening? What's going on in the universe?
Julie: You big, big tease.
David: Time is running away with itself somehow.
Russell: You'd think something is bleeding, coming through from the other side. Very strange...
David: We'll have to come back and see what happens there...

What could this mean?! Many have suggested the parallel universe ("the other side")??

You can listen to the commentary HERE.

And also a warning, that the Children in Need sneak peek will not be online! What is this outcry I hear? More viewers for Children in Need (and quite right too! :D).

Aftermath

Well then, that episode was truly amazing, wasn't it?

Digital Spy have posted their verdict on the episode, which gained a massive 9.1 million viewers, according to early figures

Also, remember that Friday 20th November is Children in Need night, where we'll see a sneak preview of the next episode!!

Christmas 2009...

Remember, Remember - 15th November!

The Waters of Mars is so close!

And looky what I gotted:

THANKS to Adam at Gallifrey Base!

Monday, November 2

Wet, Wet, Wet!

Some fantastic person went to the Waters of Mars screening and gave us some hints!!

Just got back from yesterday's amazing Waters Of Mars screening in London. What a rush that was! From the cosy little cinema in the Soho Hotel, the assembled members of the press got to see the whole episode. Russell T Davies was there, David Tennant was also there. I even spotted the Doctor's daughter, Georgia Moffett there (she's a really pretty girl, looks a bit like Little Boots).

Anyway, it wouldn't be fair to spoil the episode so far in advance, so don't worry about finding out too much from this post. What I will say is that based on the trailer's I've seen for Waters Of Mars, I thought the whole episode would be abysmal. Really. I had serious concerns that David Tennant's third-last Doctor Who would be a complete washout.

Let's face it, The Doctor has wound up on these remote space colonies in the past, facing nameless evils - The Satan Pit for one, arguably Silence In The Library for another. I figured Waters Of Mars for another of those claustrophobic space disaster stories that don't rank among my favourites.

I still hold that the 'scary water' storyline is a bit clumsily executed. "Water always waits, water always wins..." However, it gives an excellent backdrop to the real story - and a massive dilemma for The Doctor which will pave the way to his demise. Add to that the tantalising trailers for "The End Of Time", and you'll be salivating for the two Christmas specials!

Teasers

How to tease you without giving the story away? Well, I'd definitely advise you to go back and watch the Pompeii episode - a Doctor and Donna adventure. There's lots of stuff in there that's relevant to this episode. Also, you might want to check out The Runaway Bride, the first episode to feature Donna Noble. Events in that episode, and Pompeii, also hint at something important to The Doctor.

Oh, and the name of the base (and the episode, I suppose) is actually quite a strong hint toward an upcoming guest star in the next episode.

The End Of Time

At the end of the episode, we got a preview of Tennant's penultimate episode as The Doctor - The End Of Time. It's got Bernard Cribbins as Wilf, which is excellent. We already knew that, but it's excellent. Catherine Tate seems to be in the episode as Donna, but she wasn't doing much. Russell T Davies said that Donna's mother would also be featured. We also see John Simm as an almost feral-looking blonde version of The Master. Again, we heard that Lucy Saxon, The Master's wife would be in the episode as well - will she be friend to The Doctor or foe? We'll just have to wait and see.

Finally...

I just want to say thanks to the BBC and their publicists for inviting Unreality TV along to the screening - it's the first time we've had an invitation this cool, and an honour to be part of this. You know how much we love Doctor Who!

So, a return of the house Gods (ie, the Doctor and Donna?!).

Meanwhile, we get even more spoilers from these lovely people here...

Both an action adventure, base under siege, story, plus an enormously powerful emotional story. I was choked on more than one occasion and actually thought I would cry at one point. (Ben Stephenson from BBC Drama, assured us we would have “wet turkeys” when we watch the newly-completed Xmas eps, but more of that later.)

On the other hand, there’s some class comic dialogue. When asked “Name, rank and intent” the Doctor answers “The Doctor, doctor, fun”, which Tennant delivers brilliantly. Plus there’s some nice to-ing and fro-ing with Linsday Duncan’s character. And a funny robot. (The Doctor doesn’t like funny robots… though he does admit that ones shaped like dogs are different.) And some of the darker stuff is good too. Watch out for the line, “As consolation”. It hits you like a punch to the guts.

A lot of the plot hinges on the same issues of time, consequence and fixed points that were referenced in Fires Of Pompeii, but with rather different consequences. Another obvious influence was 28 Days Later, including one direct lift of a memorable scene from that film. You could also argue that the funny robot is a tribute to Johnny Five or WALL-E.

The Ice Warriors, unsurprisingly, get a mention in a good, plot-reinforcing way, and there’s more than one old enemy that puts in an appearance, either in flashback (not necessarily from The Doctor’s life) or… dare I say, premonition. We never really get to know the nature of the threat, either. Very Midnight.

There was a preview of The End Of Time confirming much of what we already knew but let’s just say thatWaters Of Mars ends on such a mood that you wouldn’t want it going out on Chrimbo Day. The last two eps are scheduled for then and New Year’s Day.

Oh, and it’s in HD, so I’m assuming the titles have been re-rendered. It certainly looked amazing. You could see every pore on Tennant’s face in the close-ups. And the CGI was impressive, even on a big screen. Also, I dunno where they went to shoot the Mars surface but it was pretty fucking cool. Graeme Harper’s done a bang-up job. So many jump-y moments and creepy direction, plus it all hangs together well. There were so very few moments when you thought “Hang on, this isn’t Mars, it’s a warehouse in Llandaff.”

Alien Armies Competition

Our last competition was very successful, with tens of tens of entries flooding in every day and giving Jess and I even more to do on our already-topped schedules! We were very happy with the winner and you can see Miranda Scruggs' lovely banner on the site for ages to come.

However, in terms of pushing the site forward in its interactivity with the readers, I thought it would a be great idea to have another competition, but with prizes up for grabs! In this case, a healthy collection of the Alien Armies collecting cards.

Prizes
Up for grabs are 49 cards, including a Tenth Doctor - Limited Edition (from the latest Doctor Who Magazine, just in case you missed out), a Sixth Doctor - Foil Card (E6) and four Glitter Foils, including Cassandra (G16), The Doctor (G17), Heavenly Host (G33) and The Face of Boe (G14). On top of this, there are loads more common cards; this competition might be perfect for you if you're looking to expand your collection or just to try it out!

Competition
To win these cards, all you have to do is write a short passage on this topic:
What Doctor Who means to me.

Rules & Entry
  • The passage must be 170 - 200 words. Any more or any less will not be counted, sorry!
  • Your entry must be sent in a .doc, .txt or .rtf file to planetgallifrey@inbox.com using the heading: Alien Armies Competition Entry
  • Please leave your name and age at the end of the email.
  • Please do not copy and paste your entry into the body of the email as any formatting will not stay once sent.
  • (You can also send questions to that address!)
  • For this competition, only UK residents may enter. Sorry about this, but it's easier for us to send off stuff within the UK as opposed to outside just incase something goes wrong.
  • The passage must take the continuous prose form.
  • The competition ends on Sunday 15th November (the Waters of Mars airdate!) and the results will be published soon after.
  • All entries will be judged fairly and we do have the right to reject any entries if they fail to comply with the rules :)
  • The winner of the competition will be contacted. If you do enter, then you must be willing to give your address so we can send the prizes to you.
  • We will publish all the entries on here with the results, too.
Good Luck!

When Wall-E met Doctor Who

So, The Waters of Mars airs on Sunday 15th November.

Thanks to Ryan for these delightful images!

"The Gate is waiting for you..."

Check out the scene here! What is the Gate? The Gates of Elysium?

News

The BBC released the synopses for The Gift; the Sarah Jane Adventures finale!

Sarah Jane, Luke, Clyde and Rani face an old enemy, the green Slitheen, in the penultimate episode of this series of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

When the Slitheen's latest scheme is halted, their rivals, the Blathereen, arrive. Declaring peace between the planets, they offer Sarah Jane a gift – one that might change the future of the human race forever.

When the Blathereens' gift runs riot, Sarah Jane faces the battle of her life to save her son, Luke, as The Sarah Jane Adventures concludes.

With Clyde, Rani and K9 trapped in a school under siege, and the whole of London convulsing under the alien threat, everything heads for a final showdown in the attic – and not everyone is getting out alive.

Rumour has it that

K9

will be the one who is killed off at the end of Series Three!

Also, Digital Spy report on 10 teasers for Waters of Mars :

It's completely different from 'Planet Of The Dead', with a real sense of the foreboding about it and some hitherto-unseen sides of The Doctor revealed. Without further ado, here's ten teasers:

1. The first line of the episode: "Hello mum. Susie says hello!" Do not underestimate its relevance!

2. The Doctor (and TARDIS) land on Mars on November 21, 2059. There he happens upon Bowie Base One, the first human colony on the red planet.

3. Heading up the base is Captain Adelaide Brooke (Lindsay Duncan), recognised by The Doctor as the pioneer of humanity's colonisation of space. "The woman with starlight in her soul," he calls her.

4. Odd-Doctor behaviour part one: The Doctor instantly realises he needs to leave. "Whatever has started here, I can't see it to the end," he tells them. "I can't."

5. ... but he doesn't leave, because before too long the dreaded 'water' starts to play a part. We won't spoil exactly how it plays a part, but the previously-released preview clip offers a strong hint.

6. There are references to two season four stories, as well as the recent Easter special. There's even a (new) flashback scene to one of the aforementioned.

7. "It's taken me all these years to realise *** **** ** **** *** **** - and they **** **** **."

8. An Ood makes an appearance. Last word is key. (Ood Sigma!)

9. Did you know, the human body is 60% water?

10. Odd-Doctor behaviour part two: Towards the very end of the episode, there's a scene that sees The Doctor say things that will utterly shock you. And more than that, the way he says things will shock you too.

And, to top it all off, they gave us a sneaky peek at the episode in the form of PICTURES. Dazzle your eyes over these!

Part 1
A haunted house, with mysterious whispers and secrets in the shadows attracts Sarah Jane’s attention in the first of a new, two-part adventure, written by Phil Ford and directed by Alice Troughton. When Professor Rivers and the gang investigate an old legend, a monstrous creature appears in the night as the terrifying grasp of Erasmus Darkening reaches out from centuries past.

Part 2
Sarah Jane and the gang discover the secrets of Erasmus Darkening, in the second and concluding part of The Eternity Trap, but are they too late? As ghosts from the past rise up, and the quest to find the missing children reaches a climax, it seems that nothing can stop the ancient alchemist’s rise to victory.

Meanwhile, Russell T Davies and Elisabeth Sladen popped into the BBC Breakfast studio, where they showed exclusive clips of The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith and The Waters of Mars! Clips uploading soon :)

INTERVIEW

Wednesday, October 28

"He is the angel..."

GMTV played an exclusive clip of The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith;

Also, have a looky at a snippet of Nigel Havers' interview;

Meanwhile, Cameron posted some lovely EXCLUSIVE pictures of the wedding of the year! See them here, here & here! He also reviewed both parts. Here's a teaser!

The denouement of the first episode is the event itself and we get fan-pleasing references to Metebelis 3, The Brigadier and Sarah Jane Adventures alumni Maria Jackson before the nuptials kick off. Rani's parents, for the first time, are gifted a number of gigglesome moments and add an appropriate degree of levity to Sarah's big day. But the levity is about to take a turn for the worst as a familiar wheezing and groaning (whoaning? grozing??) filters through the air.

Part 1 reviewed here, and Part 2 reviewed here!

Marry Me Miss Smith!

Digital Spy have posted some spoilers regarding the Doctor's stint in the next episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

ENTER THE DOC!

DOMESTIC ABUSE?! WE HOPE NOT! AND WHAT'S THAT? A WHITE TRICKSTER?!!

1. DT is technically in both episodes, but he doesn't appear right until the end of the first one. His opening words? "Stop this wedding now!"

2. Ahh yes, the wedding. Sarah Jane is getting married! To Nigel Havers. Erm, correction: a businessman called Peter Dalton who is played by Nigel Havers.

3. Yes, their relationship moves quickly - although there is a lot of use of things like "one week later".

4. But that aside, there's definitely something untoward going on here. Who's to blame? Why, it's Sarah Jane's old friend The Trickster!

5. When The Doctor shows up, he's quickly parted from Sarah Jane (and the TARDIS). He's got the kids to help him out, though.

6. The Doctor says two of his standard catchphrases: "Allons-y" and "I'm so sorry."

7. The Doctor is referred to as "the man of ice and fire" and is told that "the gate is waiting for you".

8. One of the kids receives a massive shock. Literally.

I will be attending the advanced screening of The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith this Sunday and I'll be sure to bring back some spoilers to whet your appetites. Meanwhile, I do have something which will entice you all...

SPOILERS AHEAD!!
The story revolves around the Doctor and Sarah Jane's lives being one second out of sync. The kids get a peek inside the TARDIS and there's even a mention of Metebelis 3!

New Sarah Jane trailer!

I'm so excited I may just squee!

Here's the new trailer for the Sarah Jane Adventures, featuring lots of action, excitement and David Tennant!

You can watch the official (and probably better quality) trailer on the SJA site

Yay!

Tennant to be in film?

If this is true, then its dead exciting!
From the Examiner

Director John Landis announced at this weekend's Spooky Empire convention in Orlando that departing Doctor Who star David Tennant has been cast alongside English actor Simon Pegg in Landis's upcoming film Burke and Hare. If the film's IMDB article is accurate, Pegg will play the role of William Burke while Tennant fills the role of William Hare.

The upcoming film, which appears to be a re-make of the 1972 film by the same name, will dramatize the fascinating and true story behind the Burke and Hare Murders. During their gruesome career the duo allegedly murdered seventeen victims in the hope of making a lucrative business by selling the bodies to the local medical school.

Despite the dark historical subject matter, reports on Landis's interpretation suggest his film will cast the events in the black light of dark comedy. How he will achieve so remains to be seen, but with such star power as Pegg and Tennant, the effort is almost certain to sell well.
