A News Sum-up

There's not really much to report to be honest... why, oh why can there be more Doctor Who!

Ahem. Well, as you can see by the post below, I'm revamping the 'Gallifrey' section which should be fun! And in terms of other news... all I have for you is this:
  • Georgia Moffett (Peter Davison's daughter) is allegedly lines up to be the new companion. Moffett is already appearing later on in series 4 as a "role one will ever forget!"

  • Felicity Kendal is also apparently in the top running to be a new companion... they should fight to the death for it! (okay, not the death, just ignore me)

  • The Doctor Who Exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry is finally closing after breaking museum visitor records.

  • Billie Piper has expressed fears about returning to the role of Rose - "I am a bit worried about getting back into the groove. I was shocked and saddened the other day when I tried playing Rose Tyler, to myself, in my bathroom - and I couldn't do it. I tried and tried and it had gone - hopefully not for good."

  • Oh, and the last remaining Titanic survivor criticized Voyage of the Damned. Millvina Dean, 95, has claimed that the show's producers have displayed insensitivity by featuring the Titanic in the festive episode. "The Titanic was a tragedy which tore so many families apart. I lost my father and he lies on that wreck. I think it is disrespectful to make entertainment of such a tragedy."
There you go... theres not much else I can offer you as comfort in these hard Wholess times... but there'll probably be more posts coming soon about other Time Lords and whatnot.

Time Lord Founders

The Time Lord Founders

There are known to be six founding Time Lords, though only three have ever been named.
These founders helped to establish Time Lord society and technology.

Rassilon

He is perhaps the single greatest figure in Time Lord history, certainly the most important, and is generally considered the First Time Lord.

The list of what Rassilon has done is extensive, but among these things he has:
  • Invented TARDISes
  • Mastered time travel
  • Battled and defeated the Great Vampires
  • Ended the "Dark Times" of Gallifrey's past
  • Created the foundations of Time Lord science

  • He may have created Time Lords themselves - the genetic link that lets Time Lords travel through time without ill effects, is known as the Rassilon Imprimatur.

  • He created the Eye of Harmony - a black hole that was captured and contained under the Panopticon. This harnessed black hole was said to power all of Time Lord civilization, including TARDISes

Many rumours also surround Rassilon's death, but the most persistent say he discovered a form of true immortality beyond regeneration. But he hid this secret with his remains in the Tomb of Rassilon

It was later discovered that Rassilon did indeed discover immortality, but realised it was too dangerous a secret to share so hid it in his tomb. The penance for anyone wishing to live for ever was to be turned into a statue.

Omega
Sometimes called the First Time Lord, though this title is more often given to Rassilon.

In the 'Dark Times' of Gallifrey, Omega created the Hand of Omega - a devise which could "customise stars" Working with Rassilon, Omega harnessed the energy from the stars, and used it to enabled the TARDISes and Time Lords to travel through time.

Both Omega and the Hand were believed lost, but both actually survived Omega was transported through a black hole to a universe of anti-matter, which he was able to shape through his mind.

He stayed there, trapped, for millennia, and still wearing the amour and helmet he designed to protect him from the corrosive effect of the anti-matter.

Twice, Omega has tried to have revenge on the Time Lords for abandoning him:
  • The world he was trapped in was unstable, so he tried to capture the Doctor to take his place. Both the 2nd and 3rd Doctor were brought there, but Omega finds that his body has been diminished, and he only exists in mental form.

  • Trying to escape his prison again, Omega merged with the 5th Doctor through the Arc of Infinity, located in Amsterdam, but the Doctor foils his plot.

The Other

He was known as one of the three members of the Truimvirate, who founded the Time Lord Society after the cult of Pythia was ended.

But the birth and origin of The Other is still a mystery among the Time Lords...

As Rassilon's's rule moved closer to despotism and Gallifrey's borders were sealed, the Other attempted to escape the planet by hurling himself into the Looms to await eventual reconstitution.

Some sources imply that he was re-loomed some ten million years later to the House of Lungbarrow as the Time Lord who would become known as the Doctor...

While other people believe that the Other's biodata left in the Looms gave rise to a certain Time Lord characteristic, namely that of discontentment and a rebellious streak. This is widely known as the characteristic that the Deca's generation of Time Lords displayed.

Rose/Doctor

Hey hey, no new information, but since I've been asked about it by salx77, I thought I'd sum up what I know about Rose returning.

Billie Piper has been confirmed as returning. The BBC News's Entertainment pages said it was for three episodes (presumably the last three) but quite soon after this the BBC Doctor Who website said the number of episodes had not been confirmed.

In an interview with Phil Collinson, he said that "Billie does make a bit of a surprise appearance in series 4, but I don't want to give too much away as that is further down the series". And someone commented that "The way he has said it, it seems me that Billie is a one-off appearance, in one episode. Appearance, to me means one episode."

David Tennant also commented on how he hasn't filmed a single scene with Billie (yet?), but that we would understand why when we see the story.

All this seems to back up ideas that Rose will come back for the Doctor-lite episode which will see the Doctor apparenly "get lost in space". There have already been sightings of Billie and Catherine filming together, but not of Martha (who is also apparently in the Doctor-lite) but it could be that she's just not in that particular scene that was filmed.

The finale hasn't been filmed yet, but its due to be completed in the next few months. It may all be filmed inside to hide what ever big bad villain is coming back, in which case we wont know anything about it. There may be some information if bits are filmed outside, but until then, I have no idea if Billie is in the finale or not.

Hope this helps to sum up things for you all!

Miss Foster

Ah, The Sun, I will never tire of the articles it gives us... here's another one that mostly covers Miss Foster who is appearing in episode 1

It also mentions Sarah-Jane, which is a speculation that has no evidence to back it up... way to go there. Anyway here it is:

Sarah, 43, kicks off the fourth series this spring playing mysterious villainess Miss Foster — “an enigmatic and powerful businesswoman” armed with her own sonic screwdriver.

She meets the Time Lord in the first episode next spring during an alien emergency in modern day London.

An insider said: "This series is going to be the best yet. Sarah’s a cracking actress. Sparks fly when Miss Foster meets Donna. She soon causes the Doctor all manner of grief. It’s more than a bit of woman trouble.”

She said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be in it. It’s a brilliant episode and I’m looking forward to taking on the Time Lord.”

Other guest stars in the new series include Felicity Kendal, Fenella Woolgar, Tim McInnerny, Peter Capaldi, Phil Davis and Tracey Childs.

And two of the Doctor’s former assistants will return. Billie Piper and Elisabeth Sladen will recreate their roles as Rose Tyler and Sara Jane Smith.

There you go... and remember people, The Sun like to say things that aren't necessarily true!
