Beeeees

I don't really know how big a part the Bees will play in tonights episode, but here are some Bee facts for you for no apparent reason.
  • The British bee actually died out in the Second World War. All native bees to Britain now were actually imported from else where.

  • Only the Honey bee will die when it stings you. No other type of bee will, and its actually more common for wasps to die than bees.

  • Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is a recently-observed (in 2006) phenomenon in which worker bees from a colony or hive abruptly disappear, and the colony dies.
Enjoy the pointless facts!

Thank you!!!

I found the second one a bit odd, though, I got stung by a wasp six times in a thirty second span and it sure as heck didn't die of its own accord...

James - I think the bee facts are actually linked to Donna's mentioning the fact that the bees keep disappearing.

Good facts, btw.

As someone else pointed out, Sontarans can be killed by bee stings. Remember in the preview for next week's episode that the Doctor said the gas is for something else? I bet it is to kill off all the bees so the Sontarans can invade earth.
