"Now, I have it on veeeeery good authority that the next Doctor has already been chosen. It's an interesting new direction, and the choice (assuming no changes of heart) will probably surprise - and divide - many. The name I've heard isn't Paterson Joseph. Or John Simm. Or James Nesbitt."
Right, so there we go... its all madness!

It's Simon Pegg. Mark it down.
I do wish we could have gotten Tennant for at least 1 series of the new Moffat years. Basically seems their are giving Moffat a very clean slate to continue on from.
Though I hope they'll make it seem as though more time has passed between each special before Tennant's doctor regenerates to give room for some radio specials. The other doctors have come back to do some of those and that might work out well to resolve the River Song meeting especially as she's supposed to be younger and Tennant is supposed to be older.
Jo Joyner? There was a rumor a few weeks ago she would make a return appearance. Why not as the Doctor?
Am I crazy for hoping it's Anthony Head?
cool news btw happy halloween Jess!
to divide the nation its gotta be a female :/
we'll have to see how it goes - im keeping an open mind :D
I heard that someone wanted Ewan McGregor or Johnny Depp.

Thanks for all the work you have put into the all those list's. its going to be a longer year now knowing David is leaving. i do hope its Anthony Head he would be brilliant. i feel no mater who it is they have a huge job ahead of them taking over for one of the best timelords ever
Dan
to divide the nation its Billie Piper people will go nuts ok not a funny joke. i still love we have Rose and 10.5 out there to make a return at anytime down the road a doctor lite episode with just them in a couple years.
dan
Happy halloween and trick or treat
I think the 10th doctor regenerate into the 11th doctor which is male not female even not christopher eccleston because he played only the 9th doctor the 9th doctor regenerate into the 10th doctor alfer defeating the daleks and dalek emperor and john simm can t play the 11th doctor because he played only the master the 6th master john barrowman can t play the 11th doctor because he played only the doctor s companions captain jack harkness in doctor who and torchwood so i want david morrisey or anyone to play the 11th doctor in series 5 alfer david tennant retire to the 10th doctor
David Tennant quits as Doctor Who After Sexual Affair With Brand??? what the hell r they talkin about??????????????? good post btw
I hope it's not anyone that's already played another character OTHER than the Doctor on Doctor Who. I'm fine with David Morrissey because when he gets into Doctor Who, he'll be playing *a* Doctor.
It would just be way too weird watching Eleven turn into, say, Patterson Joseph and think, "Hey, weren't you the guy yelling like an idiot about your money on Satellite 5?"
Same with Simm, or John Barrowman (Ummm...nice try, whoever put HIM on the list), only it would be even worse. We have to remember that kids watch these shows. How the heck are we going to explain that that guy who looks an awful lot like the Master is the Doctor now?
Nah, get someone new to the show, I say. OR someone who's already played the part. At least that could be explained away, like something went wrong and his regeneration reverted at least his appearance to a configuration it already tried. I dunno, it would just be easier.

Well, if you notice...the news site is called "The Spoof".
It's a spoof. Not real news.

I am delighted that the BBC have managed to secure the services of the girl in Grange Hill who was the only friend of Ro-land as the next Doctor, narrowly pipping Bonnie Langford to the role.
Managing to tick ALL the boxes of being the antithesis of David Tennant... by being a) female b) Black and c) devoid of any acting talent whatsoever.
I'm sorry. I must apologise for my post. And resign immediately.
A few things to note the Sith Doctor (Colin Baker) had earlier appeared as Commander Maxil whom shot the Fifth Doctor. If children back then could get past it they definately could now. Also Romana 2 was played by Lalla Ward
whom was Princess Astra before hand. They also made note that she chose this form, though that whole regeneration sequence in itself is controversial.
I wish they would have kept it a secret when he regenerates, I thought it was great to suddenly have Eccleston regenerate which I didn't expect.
Also if it IS a woman that would kill the show and make absolutely no sense whatsoever. I don't even think I could watch if a female "Doctor" was more than a one episode thing.
If they were to make a female Doctor the only person whom would have any chance for me wouldn't be Billie but Catherine Tate instead. She could pull it off, plus maybe with enough babble (and he turned back later) something to do with the metacrisis messing up his regeneration.
Also something I though would be extremely cool, but I guess not possible. If Eccleston was actually 11 (meaning he died a few times in the war that we didn't see) and David 12 that would make 10.5 really 12.5 and thus the Valeyard. Then they could make up some story on how to have him regenerate more times and go back to new actors for playing the time war parts later (as a spin off or movie made at the same time).
I'm an old bugger now - well, late 30's - so I'm as much intrigued with the prospect of a new Docotr as I am sorry to see the departure of the current one. But I do sympathise with those of you clearly mortified by David Tennant's shock announcement. Allow me to relate my own sad, sad tale.
I started watching the show when in was at it's peak: Tom Baker, Season 12 (actually, from dodgy memory they were up to season 15, but I came in when they were broadcasting repeats). Only seven years old, but I can still remember the P.O.V shots of the titular character from "Robot", the Doctor alone with Davros in "Genesis of the Daleks" and the spinning moon they nearly crashed into at the end of "Revenge of the Cybermen" (gosh it looked real at the time, ha!). By "Pyramids of Mars" I was a life-long convert, until...Sarah's face fell off at the end of episode 2 of "The Android Invasion" and I had nightmares of it that night. So mother, may she be eternally damned (joke) banned it. I missed everything from then on, ie: Brain of Morbius, Seeds of Doom, all of Season 14 and most of season 15 which I had been too late to catch the first time around. Would have missed the Key to Time if they hadn't repeated it after season 17. Finally, I was allowed to watch the show again, from "Destiny of Daleks" onward. And what happens? A few months later it stopped! (It aired Monday-Thursday back then, so a whole season took less than a couple of months to show). I could have torn my hair out. Eighteen agonising months elapsed between "Horns of Nimon" (can you believe that one scared me silly?) and "The Leisure Hive." And what's this - new theme music? Where's my time-tunnel? What, just stars? Mmmm, don't like it. Oh well, at least there's Tom Baker (costume altered for the worst, must say). And the story was pretty good. In fact, many season 18 stories were very good. So, OK, not perfect, but can live with it. But then, Logopolis, episode four and....NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Just when I'd got to know you again. Just when I was old enough to really remember and appreciate you. No DVD's back then. Not even videotape. If it wasn't on telly, it wasn't on, full stop. It was years before I caught up with all those Tom Baker classics. Too old by then to get scared witless. Too old to miss the gaping plot holes.
So my message, young uns, is this: don't ever, ever, tell mum or dad your nightmare was Doctor Who related, and don't ever, ever, let them ban it. Beg, plead, blackmail them, whatever it takes. Because you just might miss the classics. At the best time of your life.
Well If anyonne want to be the 11th doctor alfer tennant leaves dr who at end of 2009
david tennant has won the tv award to be his last in specials 2009 because he had not done anything wrong I not saying he is fired I saying RTD replace him because
DT AND RTD ARE LEAVING DOCTOR WHO SHOW TOGETHER****
Well the clever thing about the tenth Doctor is that David Tenant can come back for a guest spot as 10.5 with Rose.
I don't want the Doctor changing his gender.
I want a Black Doctor next! (Patterson Joseph anyone?)
I think they should have Jamie Carroll. He does the 11th Regeneration vids on YouTube. The guy is fantastic, and he sounds a bit like David.
my sister thinks that the tenth doctor is now with rose and the doctor we saw at the end was 11.5
I agree with you Anonymous I hope the doctor regenerate into the 11th doctor as male not female.
Because the doctor don t change his gender.
beside time lords do not change their gender
I think with a black or a female Doctor, a lot of people would have to be convinced that it wasn't just stunt casting. It wouldn't be easy.
Personally? I hope it's someone I've never heard of. Because that way they're the Doctor in my mind as well as on-screen.
Black doctor you got to be kidding me
"Anonymous said...

Your sister is daft.
the 10th doctor will not regenerate into the black doctor because Black men form africa are black not white who will not play the 11th doctor in series 5.
I really white men will play the 11th doctor
Please not Rhys Ifans if it's him I bloody won't want to watch the show - he's a twat!
I have no idea who it will be, and part of me doesn't mind, as long as they are different from David as no-one is going to be better than him if they try and copy his style of doctor.
However there are a few people on that list that I am certain wouldn't be the Doctor and that is John Simm, John Barrowman and Burn Gorman, as it would confuse young children bringing either of the John's in as the doctor as they are already well known Doctor Who characters. And Burn was in Torchwood so many people that watch both wouldn't like him becoming the Doctor.
I have a feeling that some of the older actors on that lsit may not be the doctor either as 1) the doctor is now supposed to be able to do stunts etc. 2) Steven Moffat is supposed to want a slightly darker doctor, so they may not be suitable.

the darker Doctor as dark doctor what that
I guss the doctor will not regenerate into any dark doctor and darker doctor who are shadow Beside everyone would vote david morrisey or any actors can to be the 11th doctor at series 5 2010
I'm just thinking out load here, but didn't the Doctor just use up one if his regenerations? I mean (forgetting 10.5 since he's something else completely) he did regenerate there in Journey's End. so.. does he only have two regenerations left? Maybe it doesn't matter.
Another thing: Someone up there (sageeth) said that "if they were to make a female Doctor the only person whom would have a chance...would be Catherine Tate. She could pull it off.."
I completely agree! If for some daft reason they chose to have a female, I'd vote Tate because she COULD pull it off! In fact, it would make more sense for it to be her than to have some other random actress come on.
I'll miss David! *cries* NO! *sniff* I will not cry!! ONE MORE YEAR! It's not over yet people!!
~ Rosefern5
Doh we see about the doctor regenerate into female doctor maybe not I just guss the doctor s gender is male not female
I want a dark Doctor, McCoy was getting there and you got to see it in 'Dalek' with Eccleston, there was fear in his eyes! Fear!
I find myself loathing David at times, he's a kids Doctor, with his silly play doh face.
Anyway back to the Doctor....I'm quiet taken with Tom Hardy (Bill Sikes-Oliver) I think he'd be good and dark.
I don't mind really, I just wish the Faction Paradox were mentioned or Compassion was in it...or something to do with Mcgann. Bring Mcgann back!!! Go On!
Patterson Joseph doing a slightly less malevolent version of his Marquis De Carabas from Neverwhere would make a spot on Doctor if you ask me.
Don't know if you ever ever heard of him but I would love to see Andrew Lincoln (Egg from This Life in the 90s) play him.
Otherwise, Jimi Mistry?
I'd love to see Michael Rosenbaum if they are up for hiring an American. Seeing his Lex Luthor I think he could pull off a darker sort of Doctor.
You know, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was Jack Davenport. He could pull off a darker doctor, from the 'Pirates' films it seems he can do humour as well, and he follows the pattern. no-one has thought of him (he's not on the betting list) and Moffat has worked with him before.
On another note, I'll stop watching if it is Alan Davies!!!!!
Patrick Stewart anyone? They did say they were thinking of offering a role lol. Of course THAT wouldn't happen, but it would be fantastic.
Oh boy it dark doctor I just guess the doctor will get cold hurt or kiied to regenerate into the 11th doctor which it not black person or female.
if the meddling monk survie in time war leaving his people to be Exterminated by The Daleks now he got revenge on the Doctor.
I Still think the doctor s is male not female and The doctor s skin is white not black
