Obligatory Rumour of the Month... Bye Bye Matt?

Another rumour has begun circulating over Matt Smith's tenure on Doctor Who. The Sun has reported his apparent decision to leave the show at the end of Series 6 - "to crack Hollywood."

'He is eager to try new things and thinks Hollywood beckons,' says a source.

The BBC have also, apparently, admitted that Matt is only contracted to make one more series.

'He is filming the Christmas special and then goes on to film the second series,' a spokesperson tells The Sun.

Your thoughts? Personally, I wouldn't dwell too much on it, considering it's from The Sun, but it could be true.

Oh pfft. Unless it's from Matt himself it's probably balls, knowing the Sun. And he is allowed to renew the contract.

Tell me its not true! IMO he should have stayed for at least 6 or 7 years if he thinks he's big enough to crack Hollywood then he needs to put his ego in check

Let's remember that a regeneration is probably part of Moffat's grand plan, just as it was for RTD. It's an important part of the show's mythology and any writer/producer worth his salt will want to take a swing at it, and will take the job with at least one in mind. Hell, THE CURSE OF FATAL DEATH was littered with 'em.

In my opinion, I don't believe it until I see it.

I thought Matt was on the hook for at least 3 (and up to 5) years: http://www.wired.com/underwire/2009/02/doctor-who-matt/

I don't know why people are so keen to see Matt go, or given that people seem to feel this way, why Matt would think Hollywood was calling. (Maybe next they'll say he's going there to star in that supposed Doctor Who movie instead of Johnny Depp...)

@Mark Kardall Yeh but it gets boring I mean he's already regenerated 3 times in the five years that the shows been back for! It also ruins the show because he only has 13 incarnations/12 regenerations before he dies. He's not immortal you know! Besides the classic doctors stayed for a good few years and made a name for themselves nobody will remember Matt same as nobody remembers Chris Eccleston

At this rate, the show will have to end in 10 years, or their going to milk everything the can from the last guy.

Steven Moffet promised a solution to the regeneration limit so Doctor Who is prob gonna stick around for a long long time...

The author is really cool. But some of the commentators are just posting stupid words.
