Guests Guests and more Guests

It appears that there are apparent booking problems for series 5 of Doctor Who... What's wrong with the world? Who wouldn't want to be in Doctor Who?!?

Sigh. Check out what the 'Sunday Express' has to tell us:

Despite the show being a huge hit with viewers and winning a string of awards – including a coveted BAFTA – a host of stars have turned down the chance to appear as a fiendish baddie in three specials due to be filmed next year.

Although Billie Piper has been lined up for the one-off shows, even that has failed to tempt some of Hollywood’s finest to star opposite David Tennant who plays the Time Lord.

An insider close to the show said: “The BBC is looking for a top cast announcement. Sir Ian McKellen and David Thewlis have also been mentioned, but no one has yet been signed. They are starting to scrabble about for someone.”

The three specials will be shown in 2009, and are expected to be Tennant’s last as the Doctor.

Show creator Russell T Davies and Tennant are rumored to have persuaded Piper to reprise her role as Rose Tyler, the Doctor’s sidekick.

Have the people of the BBC forgotten that truly lies at the heart of Doctor Who?? It doesn't matter about big, fancy names in the show.... its the captivating story of a rogue Time Lord who runs around time and space, protecting humans and aliens (that are made of sleeping bags and cardboard) from even larger and more evil aliens (that are made from an abandoned canoe and a sock... and usually have a person inside wheeling them about) whilst somehow being oblivious to the fact that all of these far off planets somehow resemble a quarry... honestly!
