Digital Spy

The good and the great from Digital Spy have come up with 2 articles that are definitely worth a read.

The first is a run down of the believed "contenders" for the 11th Doctor:

Chiwetel Ejiofor
Joss Whedon recognised his talent by casting him as the sword-wielding Operative in space western Firefly's big screen follow-up Serenity, but it was Ejiofor's role in David Mamet's recent film Redbelt that really highlights his 'Doctorish' qualities.

Paterson Joseph
Joseph has nabbed roles in space-based sitcom Hyperdrive, Neil Gaiman's fantasy Neverwhere, and of course Doctor Who - as the ill-fated Weakest Link contestant Rodric. We've seen Freema Agyeman return to Who playing another character, so don't think that appearance will work against him.

Sean Pertwee
Wouldn't it be sweet if Pertwee follows in the footsteps of his late father Jon by playing the Time Lord? Sharing the Third Doctor's rasping voice and rugged looks, the 44-year-old has explored both the future and space in films such as Event Horizon and Soldier. Tackling the Slitheen and werewolves should be a doddle after his experiences in Dog Soldiers.

Dexter Fletcher
A long shot, but perhaps Moffat could reward Fletcher for helping his early show Press Gang take off? As the rebellious teen Spike Thompson, his American accent was so convincing that viewers were shocked when he popped up as presenter on Gamesmaster and spoke in his natural Cockney tones.

And the second is a shorter one talking about how RTD is unconcerned about the amount of pressure David Tennant's Doctor Who successor will face.

"I don't really think there will be a problem with the next Doctor being under too much pressure... the next actor will sit there thinking it's 15 prime-time slots a year on BBC One. It's a great part, a great script - parts like that don't come along very often.

"Actors are clever and very ambitious. They have to be, just to be successful. A lot of actors will actually watch David and say 'I can do better than that' and they'll grab the chance to take over."

We might find out who is taking over from Tennant this Friday. Apparently Terry Wogan let it slip last week on his radio show that the identity of the next Doctor would be revealed on Children in Need night.

He might just have been referring to David Morrissey's character in "The Next Doctor" of course, but I think there's a strong possibility that he could actually be the 11th Doctor. That makes more sense to me than all the convoluted theories about him being something other than what he seems.

I still think Morriaaey's character is a con-man. I think that because during the filming he shouted at his "Companion" "THE DOCTORS COMPANION DOES AS THE DOCTOR SAYS NOW DO IT!" Something I can't see the real Doctor doing.

I don't think Doctor who fan is actually a bot like a lot of people think. I think it is really Russell T Davies just writing extremely bad in attempts to get us all away from anything true we might be saying.

i personally think its a 13y/o with bad dyslexia, and with not much understanding on how the world works.
the only way they could do a 10doctors like that (eg all the villians) would be to do a sketch made up of vidoa clips...it could work, you know where they get george dubya to say random stuff from various speaches.....if you follow me?

The next doctor needs to be someone who can top David Tennant's performance. It will be a very hard task and they should take all the time they need to choose him or her. I don't care if it's a white actor, a black actor, a black actress or a white actress. Just someone with great talent.

The "Are we ready for a black or a woman doctor" craze that's been going on needs to stop. Of course we're ready, but you know Barack Obama was elected president because he was the best candidate. Not just because he was black.

Black actress that impossible to be the 11th doctor white actress that also impossible to be the 11th doctor!!

one man should be the 11th doctor but I meant white man but not black man.
