Anywhoo here's the scoop (I've always wanted to say that)
Filming has been VERY elusive recently. Methinks they're trying to hide from the intrepid set reporters. In one day they filmed in 3 places!
So, first off, Christmas decorations went up at The Hayes and the surrounding streets.
So a 'HM prison, Broadfell' sign and an explosion... someone's in prison? I wonder who or what was busting them out?!
After this they filming inside St. Augustine's Church in Penarth. During this a coach full of extras dressed as choirboys and people in suits arrived. Apparently Wilf and the Doctor were inside as well as an actress called Claire Bloom.
Later on the filming moved back to the Hayes and the surrounding street. As well as extras, there was a Salvation Army band which played God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
And heres an utterly brilliant report from Eeeyun:
1st Shot
They began close up on the Christmas star at the top of the tree, tilting down to take in the Salvation Army band, and then pulling out wider and panning round to see a small girl with her mummy and daddy meeting Santa Claus and other shoppers mingling and passing by…
The shot steadily moved down towards the street, eventually picking out Wilf who was dawdling through the busy street with some Christmas shopping – he seemed very much lost in thought.
As he approached the Salvation Army band his attention seemed to be drawn to them (or something in that direction) where more thoughts seemed to fill his head (by this time the camera had gone tight in on him with just a headshot) then he muttered to himself for a moment, coming to some kind of conclusion, before walking off out the right side of frame.
There was also another camera that was filming this scene through some lights and its speculated that this might have been someones POV shot - like Wilf was being watched.
2nd Shot
This presumably continued on from the first picking up on Wilf after he’d walked out the right side of frame on the crane shot. He walked forward checking something out ahead and/or above him…
What was interesting was that after the actors had gone, they decorated a lamppost with Christmas lighting, and took some shots of that, and then wheeled the camera down the road for a bit to take some other short shots, but it was difficult to see exactly what was going on… They were probably just grabbing some establishing shots...

"An actress named Claire Bloom"? My goodness - you really don't know who she is? She's one of the major British actresses of the 20th century! Look her up on IMDB. This is like casting Derek Jacobi as the Master - super-duper luxury casting. No doubt she's the mega-star RTD promised.

Admittedly, most of her best work went up to the late 80s, so it's possible younger fans might not know her. The BBC did a fabulous production (not on DVD, unfortunately, at least not in the US) of Sophocles' Theban plays where she was Jocasta in Oedipus Rex. Probably lots of other Shakespeare, too.
henriks! im sure thats where rose used to work before she met the 9th doctor! do you think there is a connection and she will be back, well donna and sarah jane smith's character are back! hmmm? i wonder they did really finish of roses story but its a possibilty!

Henrik's is the major department store in that universe. They presumably can't use a real one, and characters are probably going Christmas shopping. Nothing to do with Rose - and since you clearly think she's the be-all and end-all of this show, do you really want her to go back to working in a shop??
Yeah, Henricks reminded me of Rose too, although I think they had it in 'Runaway Bride' as well. Maybe just a subtle reminder of Rose?
Hm, I wonder who could be in prison? It's Lucy :) And Master is getting her out :) Ok, I don't know, need to think a bit more!
i agree with u but i must of never noticed it before it must be that, or thats the only stor name they know lol, oh well, and im not that much of a rose fan anymore, but i am happy catherine tate is back to play donna, for some reasson i think she is going 2 be bad? but thats just me. anyone else?

Is that the tardis wrapped up in white? i think so. so maybe the master ( or whoever the drumming is ) blew the dr up?
Um, got another guess on who could be in prison :) Lady Christina! That girl could quite possibly land herself there :) Would love to see Doctor bust her out!
I thought it was funny, but I've seen people commenting how they didn't like Doctor freeing Christina at the end of 'Planet of the Dead', 'cos she broke the law, and children are watching, and what kind of message does that send, blah, blah.... Really?
I think children would've liked the Doctor a lot less if he hadn't freed her!
The TARDIS being wrapped up probably doesn't mean anything - it was probably just the prop, and the TARDIS won't actually be wrapped during filming.
I don't think the prison explosion refers to Christina - neither she nor the Doctor are likely to blow anything up to free someone - and for all we know, the person who blew it up is trying to destroy the prison/an enemy, not free someone.
Most people think that the person in prison is Lucy.
this isnt just a babies show! who cares if the doctor lets christina go , that shows he has compasion, and its not like kids who are watching it are gonna stand up and gonna go adn steal some amazing priceless cup!
I thought there was supposed to be several specials this year like 4 at least. Now they are saying waters of mars is "Novemberish" and of course this one appears to be xmas. Oh well Here's to next April when we are back to normality.
Maybe we'll get a Three Doctors episode. That might be good for a Christmas 2010 show.
we are getting 4 specials which are getting broadcast throughout the year and by the time we've seen the water of mars it will only bee weks to see davids final parter, also im guessing we'll see a small trailer of 2010
Why would they show a waters of mars trailer at the end of planet of the dead then if there is going to be others in between? Kind of misleading no?
