Booky Wooky

Three brand new NSAs have just been released, and it looks like they may be the last three, so grab 'em when you can!

Autonomy by Daniel Blythe
Hyperville is 2013's top hi-tech, 24-hour entertainment complex - a sprawling palace of fun under one massive roof. You can go shopping, or experience the excitement of Doomcastle, Winterland, or Wild West World. But things are about to get a lot more exciting - and dangerous! What unspeakable horror is lurking on Level Zero of Hyperville? And what will happen when the entire complex goes over to Central Computer Control?

The Taking of Chelsea 426 by David Llewellyn
The Chelsea Flower Show - hardly the most exciting or dangerous event in the calendar, or so Doctor thinks. But this is Chelsea 426, a city-sized future colony floating on the clouds of Saturn, and the flowers are much more than they seem. As the Doctor investigates, a familiar foe arrives, and the stakes suddenly get much higher. The Sontarans have plans of their own, and they're not here to arrange flowers...

The Krillitane Storm by Christopher Cooper
When the TARDIS materializes in medieval Worcester, the Doctor finds the city seemingly deserted. He soon discovers its population are living in a state of terror, afraid to leave their homes after dark, for fear of meeting their doom at the hands of the legendary Devil's Huntsman. And, after a terrifying encounter with a deadly Krillitane, the Doctor realizes the city has good reason to be scared!

I have linked each to their respective Amazon pages, but oh - what's this? Tesco seem to have them all for £3.49! See here, here & here!

Oh but there's more. The Writer's Tale, that modern-age epistolary book by Russell T Davies, is to be revised and updated up to the end of the Tenth Doctor's reign. Current speculation is that the book will be paperback, as opposed to the original hardback cover, but no information has been explicitly released.

In line with the Quick Reads that we Whovians get every year, another one is to come out soon. Code of the Krillitanes sees the Doctor battling the bat-like creatures once more...

"I blame those new Brainy Crisps. Since he started eating them, he’s been too clever by half.”

Can eating a bag of crisps really make you more clever? The company that makes the crisps says so, and they seem to be right.

But the Doctor is worried. Who would want to make people more brainy? And why?

With just his sonic screwdriver and a supermarket trolley full of crisps, the Doctor sets out to find the truth. The answer is scary – the Krillitanes are back on Earth, and everyone is at risk!

Last time they took over a school. This time they have hijacked the internet. Whatever they are up to, it’s big and it’s nasty.

Only the Doctor can stop them – if he isn’t already too late...

A short, sharp shot of adventure, featuring the Doctor as played by David Tennant in the hit series from BBC Television.

Let's hope the snazzy cover really does comprehend to what is inside! But before any of us start moaning about how rubbish Quick Reads are, just remember that they are written as part of RaW, and if you can read the whole book with no effort, then count yourself very lucky.

Meanwhile, on the spin-off front, three new Torchwood books are set to be released very soon. Consequences takes the collaborative form we first saw in The Story of Martha, albeit in a more interlinking way. Risk Assessement and The Undertaker's Gift, however, take on the normal approach - but with two things missing. Can you guess what they are? But rest assured Ianto fans, your (former) hero is alive once more (not actually alive. You do realise that he did actually die, right?) Story summaries can be found here, along with information of a Torchwood Encyclopedia. Fancy.

The Sarah Jane Adventures are taking on a lighter approach this year, with only four extra stories being released. What's this horror, I hear some of you cry? Well, it seems that the book series didn't go down too well either, and now only one story will be novelised. This has to be, for popularity's sake, The Wedding of Sarah Jane. An SJA Quiz Book is also set to be released, with questions from all three series. Both items will be released in November. Slightly earlier, however, are the audiobooks (which have probably had the second-best shelf life out of all the SJA merchandise). The White Wolf and The Shadow People are out in October, and pricing on Amazon is incredibly cheap at the moment, so pre-order them now, I tell thee!

Why do you think these will be the last three NSA's?
I really hope not!
I was looking forward to Matt Smith NSA's in the future :(

Oh, I see.
Thank goodness for that. Got a bit worried there.

Wish they would carry on with them too.
Maybe concentrate on Smith books next year but bring out three Tennant books too. Maybe three Ecclestone books too.

The Torchwood books look very interesting. Hopefully I can finish my other books before these get sold out.
