I'm totally not convinced he's a future incarnation of the doctor!!
1) If he was, wouldn't he recognise Tennant's doctor as his past self?
2) A theory: The cybershades have set up Morrisey's "doctor" to attract our doctor to them??
Guess will just have to wait and see
Woop! This makes me much more enthused than just the prospect of the (personally-i-think-yawnsome) Cybermen..
Still dont think Morrissey will be 11th Doc though - that clip suggests some sort of alterna-verse or extra-canonical Doctoring... my money's on Paterson Joseph for the keys to the Tardis.
nah he aint the 11th Doc. he called his 'companion' "Roseta" - far too close to Rose. intriguing though...
hes got to be someone pretending to be the doctor, because hes so much like 10 and all the doctors are different.
also....is it just me or is morriseys doctor holding an actual normal screwdriver...??
hello again
yes i agree he is too much like 10!!
Agreed - he would recognise 10 (and the cybermen, even if they are a bit different - perhaps they are fakes too in on the act?). Got to be someone who either met or heard of the Doctor once and is pretending to be him. Also, it was said last week that the next Doctor would be a real change of direction - this would not be a big change as far as I can see
This seen reminds me a LOT of the Big Finish audio story, "The One Doctor."
my solution... http://lifetheuniverseandcombom.blogspot.com/2008/11/more-about-david-morrissey-as-eleventh.html
It can't be the 11th Doctor, for all the reasons that have been said. But also, shouldn't we see a regeneration first?
Well Luke now we wouldn't have to see a regeneration first. Remember how past Doctors have met at the time current versions of himself, well imagine we were watching the show more from their side.
"Agreed - he would recognise 10 (and the cybermen, even if they are a bit different - perhaps they are fakes too in on the act?)."
The recognising of 10 should happen if he is the 11th or any other incarnation - unless he gets some sort of amnesia again. Both the sonic screwdriver not being sonic... unless somehow that is lol. And his reactions being too much like David, with certain words used etc too.
Also if you were to look at David when the "New Doctor" said "that's new" he at least mouthed (or said quietly) "that's different".
A possible occurance is that he is in fact The Doctor and has somehow gotten amnesia (very old Who style) and because of this he doesn't recognise himself or have any of his real things. However hearing he is the Doctor and recounts of what The Doctor is like (Tennant form) he tries to be his old self. Mind you I hope this is not the case.
I'm just as confues as every one else I'm just going to wait for a reasonable explaination of why they have 2 doctors
he ain't the doctor go to thetesigma@blogspot.com to see dialogue of both doctor's when confronting the cybershades
everyone thinks he aint the doc but he obviously is so shut it!
maybe 10.5 finds a way to be full timelord?
maybe 10.5 finds a way to be full timelord?
Yep, the David Morissey/companion relationship reminded me a lot of Christopher Biggins and his companion's in Big Finish's The One Doctor. Can't wait!
He's someone who thinks he's the Doctor, if you ask me. He's not a future Doctor, or he'd recognize himself, and he's not an alternate Doctor, as the Time Lords are supposed to have existed in only one universe (that's why Pete's World had no Doctor until recently). As well, the Doctor can instantly recognize a Time Lord and clearly ("A what lord?!") knows this guy isn't one.
How the heck does he have a TARDIS, though? That question keeps running through my head. Isn't true that only Time Lords can own one? How does a non-Time Lord steal it without the TARDIS knowing and preventing it? Kinda hard for a human to steal a ship that's telepathically linked to it's owner. Rose had to pull open the console and nearly get herself killed to fly it back when he told the TARDIS to go to earth and stay there.
Unless, of course, it's not really a TARDIS. We haven't actually see it yet. Then again, Rosita's a bright girl, wouldn't she notice that she hasn't actually moved from her own time?
So many questions...this is going to be a long month and a half.
He could very well be the next doctor and not recognize himself. He could have amnesia associated with the change. He may be very interested in the cyber thingie simply because it is a totally new type of cyber-man.
Of course, he does appear to be holding a normal screwdriver, or at least an implement very different from the doctor's.
He's hilariously fake, but he's certainly very well-read on the Doctor, right down to "Rosita." (Great touch, I think.) As a conman, in order to have acquired this sort of information I think he has to be some sort of time-traveller - think Captain Jack with a different attitude.
Arrrggghh! this is confusing!!
(pulls out sonic screwdriver at the same time) Allons-y! lmso!! did u see ten's face when they both did that?? hilarious!!
I think that the cybershades have set up this doctor to lure in the doctor. The cybershades might have the history of the parallel cybermen downloaded in their minds so they know what our doctor is like so they've set up someone A LOT like the doctor to capture him and pay for the part he played in the battle of canary wharf??
Just a theoryxx
This is a mix of fantasy island and the one doctor..it's a world where you can be the doctor..only they have things wrong..rose, the screwdriver and what the cybermen look like! "Allons-y"
he's not an alternate Doctor, as the Time Lords are supposed to have existed in only one universe (that's why Pete's World had no Doctor until recently)
that's pure speculation. they never actually say the time lords are only in one universe. that doesn't actually even make any sense. even in our world, the doctor can't be everywhere at once. so, just because he wasn't on earth it doesn't mean he didn't exist.
>>that's pure speculation. they never actually say the time lords are only in one universe. that doesn't actually even make any sense. even in our world, the doctor can't be everywhere at once. so, just because he wasn't on earth it doesn't mean he didn't exist.<<
What I'm about to say is also speculation, but maybe the time lock on the Time War has something to say about that.
StormWolf,
I'm not opposed to speculation (it's my favorite pastime!:-), I just hate it when speculation = asserted fact in a discussion.
Time Lock could actually have some traction to it. Although, I hope not. You see, this is my theory on how they could bring the Time Lords back. Just as they used an established plot device to bring back the Master (chameleon arch), they would also bring a Gallifrey from a parallel universe into this one. That way you could reset the Time Lords to an uber-cool state (like in the War Games) instead of the goofiness they had become (ala Arc of Infinity). Somehow DW isn't the same without the Time Lords.
And according to the old series, you're right, only Time Lords could pilot a TARDIS because of something called the Rassilon Imprimature.
First thing I don't think the Cybermen would come up with a plan to lure the Doctor in. It is uncharacteristic of them to think along those line and also I don't know if they'd have the ability to make a person think they are the Doctor. Another point here also. Why would they want to lure the Doctor to them, especially at this poin in time... He thrashed them befor and he'll do it again... ok they are villains but they didn't go to the villain school of cliche...wait until you are uber powerful AND THEN get revenge...
Daleks tried even that and it failed...
Next point we don't even know if the Rassilon Imprature is a real thing or the Sixth Doctor stalling. PLUS he it was at least implied (if the RI was real or not) that after a Time Lord had set it up anyone can use it. ALSO we had seen that before. The reason Rose couldn't was because of the emergency program not allowing it to work without The Doctor.
>>And according to the old series, you're right, only Time Lords could pilot a TARDIS because of something called the Rassilon Imprimature.<<
I thought so. So...if he has a real TARDIS, that'll be interesting! Then again, he might not. We haven't seen it yet.
Actually, one possibility that has just occurred to me is that he's a parallel Doctor. I'd almost like that to be true just to disprove the fanonical "only one set of Time Lords for all universes" idea, but I'm not holding my breath, I'm sure he's a conman. The screwdriver's almost proof enough.
I assume that a "time lock" simply means that events of the Time War can't be time-travelled into (doing so drove Caan mad). I'm not entirely sure how that would affect parallel universes.
look at the posters on the right to the doctor at the beginning
Which one? The "Ironmongery xxxxxx made for tradesmen"-one?
What about it?
I don't think there have ever been a parallel Gallifrey... Back in the 2nd season the Doctor says about parallel worlds:
"When the Time Lords kept their eye on everything, you could hop between realities, home in time for tea. Then they died, took it all with them. The walls of reality closed, the worlds were sealed."
And so on. The Time Lords took care about these parallel worlds and Gallifrey was the center of it, ok this one is some interpretation. But it means that there wasn't a parallel Gallifrey, because two words can't take care about one thing at the same time... (without causing a war). It has to be controlled by only one system, which was Galliferey. And if there had been a parallel Gallifrey, they would't have given in... So there couldn't be one.
Hi
If you can make a banner on my site including the 10 doctors plus the new doctor in the NEXT DOCTOR. The SJA gang must be included in the banner as well and if you win then you will have a chance to design post and add thing to DOCTOR WHO AND SARAH JANE ADVENTURES.
The compition closes on the 23 of December and if you want you can give it a Christmas sign.
It doesn’t have to say the name of the site because who ever wins must have a new site name on the banner and then they will have named the DOCTOR WHO AND SARAH JANE ADVENTURES site. I would like as many enteries as possible so please start making banners and you can enter as many as you like.
My details are…

I have to disagree about the existence of parallel Time Lords. Certainly they may well have watched over the ways in and out of this universe - why couldn't parallel Time Lords have done the same in their own? It's still all just speculation and there is no straight-up direct canon statement that there's only one Gallifrey for all universes. This is just taking a throwaway line from a non-crucial scene in the middle of a season and expanding its implications to a canon that spans decades, and that's the sort of thing which brews up a lot of nonsense and misunderstanding in the long term.
"Certainly they may well have watched over the ways in and out of this universe - why couldn't parallel Time Lords have done the same in their own?"
Because they already has been watching over other paralllel worlds as well. So, if there had been another "Gallifrey", what could they have been watching about. There was nothing left... I don't think that there are such things as parallel-parallel worlds...
I am happy when the 10th doctor meet the future doctor he said I am the doctor that sound like a imposter doctor because the 11th doctor(victorian doctor) is imposter and the 10th doctor is real as real doctor.
I am convinced this is an alternate version of big finish's 'The One Doctor'. I don't think Morrisey will turn out to be a con man though for 3 reasons. If he were a con-man, why only reveal yourself to one person? It makes far more sense to fake an invasion then claim the reward (as in 'The One Doctor'). The second reason is that he reveals himself far too quickly. I don't think the Doctor, in any of his incarnations would say to the first stranger he met 'I'm the Doctor and I'm a Timelord'. third reason, if he were a con man, why pick on victorian england? It's not excatly the era you'd pick if you wanted a lot of cash is it?
I think as far as the posters go, he might be refering to the reward posters at 1:39
if it a multi doctor like in journey s end and other dr multi stroies then why david morrisey playing the 11th doctor(imposter doctor) because of the 10th doctor did not regenerate into new doctor before defeading the daleks and davros.
The clone doctor(the 11th doctor) played by david tennant this will not be happen again.
I think this is just a normal man who's suffered a trauma and is role-playing. He's perhaps knows about the doctor because the Doctor was somehow connected to the original trauma. Getting his sanity back is just the sort of Christmas tearjerker that would fit. It's also possible this is the beginning of a story arc that will go through all the upcoming specials.
(sorry if someone's already posted this, I don't have time to read them all :-) )
Could this be a re-enactment, a group of "fans" recreating what the doctor did at some point - perhaps the cyberthing that just jumped out at the doctors is what they imagine them being like. They are working from stories, notes etc. that is why the screwdriver Morrisey wields is a not so sonic flathead one - historical inaccuracy.
Also (the false hope has risen within me) did anyone else notice a red-headed women in a blue/turquoise top between 1:07 and 1:11 (it's when he's turning so you have to be quick) It's not just that her hair is red - she doesn't appear to be in period dress, the colour's wrong (turquoise), she's wearing a different colour skirt or trousers (brown/tan) and unlike pretty much every other woman in the market place, she's not wearing a bonnet. I'm not saying it's Donna, just that it seems a bit odd.
Fern Cotton's reaction after the footage looks so unbelievably fake and unrealistic. I hate it when presenters pretend to like something, they should have just got Terry to introduce the clip instead. Anyways, loved it muchlies and look forward to Christmas.
:D :D :D
The specials and series 5 should hurry up so we can hear the last of "OMFG Donnaz" every time someone with red hair shows up. Ditto "OMFG Masta" every time someone with a ring shows up.
Well i Just Concerned about david morrisey is playing the 11th doctor(imposter doctor) in the next doctor but I am excited to see return of the cybermen and new robot known as cybershades.
I think doctor who writer should write very carefully by not writing about future doctors(the 11th doctor the 12th doctor and the 13th doctor any more future doctors)
Come on xmas!! lol.
Oh, it was wonderful, wasn't it? LOVED that the "other" Doctor's screwdriver was really a...screwdriver! Brillant! :) :) :)
Oh, so fun! I loved seeing David Morrisey camping it up. I really want him to be a genuine doctor, but I have to admit that my hopes aren't high.
In less than one minute onscreen, Morrisey's "Doctor" name-checked the TARDIS, the screwdriver, and the Timelords (not to mention all the Tennant trademarks like "allonsy," the winky eye thing, and Rose, if we count "Rosita" as a sly reference to her)...real Doctors tend to be a bit more enigmatic. Ecclesdoc hardly ever mentioned the timelords, and Tennant's isn't all that much more forthcoming.
Morrisey's "Doctor" seems to me to bit hitting all the trademarks a bit too quickly...still, you never know, and I live in hope. I just think the "One Doctor" scenario, in which Morrisey is a con-man, is a little dull, especially if it's already been done. I hope if he's not really the Doctor, he's still something more interesting.
To me there are still a lot of unanswered questions about Pete's World, and if the Cybus Cybermen are in the Christmas Special, it seems we might be in for a little more from the frequently visited oh-we-can-never-come-here-agaiin place. (though no Rose, of course)
Random baseless speculation: How fun would it be if the DOCTOR was the Doctor's companion throughout the 2009 specials? And if, when Tennant regenerates, he regenerates into the companion-Doctor. That would be sufficiently mind-bendy to top RTD's previous moves, and at this point, he's set himself a pretty high bar of mind-bendiness.
Sry, but I hope Morrisey isn't a real doctor and also never will be one, not now, or in the present or in the future (time travelling isn't an easy job;) He's too "doctor-like", that's also the reason why I think that he's only a conman... And I love that real screwdriver;)
what are those things hanging form the market stall? they look like gourds... is it definately set on earth?
Maybe hes a conman or someone whose been sapped by a bit of the docs memory..
Roll on the 25th....
Those gourd-like things are cheeses.
The 11th doctor s sonic screwdriver is isn t real either because the currant doctor had real sonic scredriver.
So what you say.
I dunno lad, it's like no cheese I've even tasted...
Cheese That mouse eats cheese I do anonymous do and humans do.
Anyway Old school cybermen is looking for cybershades to Destroy all Humans with New school cybermen but the 10th doctor got to stop for destroy victorian england.
The Imposter doctor(the 11th dotctor) had a black companions That nice but not the currant doctor s black companions.
i love the doctor!! soz just needed to get that of my chest
I love the Doctor too be careful the doctor but not you imposter doctor i meant the 10th doctor the real there the Cybermen from planet mondas and parallel earth and cybershades.
besides this is not parallel universe because it just our universe as right universe.
