All watches in 1851 would have been pocket watchs; though no doubt the episode will bluff and make it look like a big deal before revealing it's not.
as they are showing this picture now, i think the chameleon arch is NOT involved!
it that The real Doctor as the 10th doctor had fob watch or the imposter doctor as the 11th doctor had fob watch as imposter fob watch that humans to be time lord or time lords to humans.
I don't think it is the Fob Watch, but I think it would be good if it was; it'd get my heart racing like when the Yana revealed he was the Master. LOL

could it be the fob watched left over from when he was a school master? or did that go with him into the tardis? you know essence of time lord and all....
also even though i admit it looks smooth, going by the pixel size on the enlarged version any intricate details wont show up as it'll be like 1/4 of the size of each pixel..altho i kinda see a snake in there.
I'm not necessarily hoping for a Time Lord Fob Watch moment, but note that the Master's fob watch didn't have those markings on one side either...

i do know what a fob watch looks like, but of course you could get all psychological and claim i dont really know if its a fob watch, but that would also mean iam not really sitting here typing out this message.
That would be awsome though! If it was the Fob watch but it doesn't have any Gallifreain Symbles on it.
Martha had to turn over Yana's fob watch to see the markings. There were not markings on one side.
It looks to me to be a FOB Watch but I bet it isn't a Time Lord Recepticle for their essence or whatever you would call it. For all those who don't know a Fob watch is just a style of pocket watch and not invented by Doctor Who people and not all being a part of a Chameleon Arch's system... just ordinary watches. Why what the Doctor and Master used look like watches, simply because they blend in easily.
That being so long windedly said. I think there is no proof in that picture that it isn't like The Doctor's. There is the whole two side issue and sometimes props used for close ups are different than ones used in distance shots (such as this one) as the less chance of damaging something ornate the better. Seeing how the original got tossed around kinda they might have a second, plain one for these sorts of shots.
It would explain somebody thinking they were "The Doctor" if they had got hold of a bit of his "essence" in the chameleon fob watch, but that was in the hands of someone in WW1, and this appears to be victorian england.. but its a show about a time traveller so anythings possible....

We know from previews that the Doctor suspects the Next Doctor of being a future regeneration of himself, which raises for Ten the question of why Next doesn't recognise him. Ten's theory, I assume, is that Next might have used the Chameleon Arch.
Ten's going through all the same fannish speculation as the rest of us. I bet that's why they released this picture.
If Chameleon Arch is in the next doctor would chameleon arch make imposter doctor to be human or the 10th doctor could be human(for last time if he is john smith as human but I don t the 10th doctor to be human again just like the clone doctor is living with rose tlyder and jackie tlyder in parallel world).
With respect to the esteemed Mr Dark, I don't think there's enough resolution in the photo to show whether the watch has markings or not. As others has noted, an ordinary fob watch would be a common item in 1851, but there is no reason for a scene like the one pictured to take place on screen unless it is a Gallifreyan one. I see two reasonable scenarios to explain this moment:
1. The Doctor is showing a Gallifreyan one (the Master's? a spare?) and asking whether the ND has something that looks like it.
or
2. The Doctor has "borrowed" the ND's watch to examine and discuss it.
Remember that the John Smith watch ended up with Old Tim at the end of The Family of Blood. For anyone to have the Doctor's fob watch at this point, he has to have gotten it from Old Tim in contemporary times, or else the Doctor had more than one.
The Next Doctor is someone who has somehow picked up many of the Doctor's traits, either by conscious imitation (which seems unlikely since he doesn't recognize the Doctor and yet unknowingly repeats his words) or by some subconscious influence. That sounds like something a fob watch might do - implant Time Lord memories in its bearer, even if that person was never a Time Lord himself. There is a precedent for this: the original Tim in the novel version of Human Nature by Paul Cornell becomes more Doctorish over time.
I thought "The Next Doctor" was based on the Big Finish audio "The One Doctor": The Sixth Doctor and Mel come up against an impostor Doctor and his companion Sally-Anne.
So, I'm pretty sure the watch is just a diversion--for fans, apparently...
It's beacause it's based on the One Doctor!!! He's not a timelord!!! He's a conman!!!!!

You not going to belive this cyberKing Cyberking is king of the Cybermen so in The Next doctor the Doctor will battle against The cybermen from mondas and parallel earth with Cyberking cybercontroller and cyberleader and Cybershades.
