I'm thrilled to be Doctor Who's new assistant
LINDSAY Duncan will star in this year's second Doctor Who special as the Time Lord's companion, the BBC confirmed today.
Duncan, who is starring as Baroness Thatcher in the BBC2 drama Margaret, will play Adelaide - the Doctor's cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet.
She will join David Tennant, who continues his role as the Doctor in the second instalment of four specials to be screened throughout 2009. The second special will follow Planet Of The Dead, due to air this Easter on BBC1.
Duncan said: "I'm thrilled to be involved in Doctor Who. I've never done anything like this before and I'm really looking forward to working with David Tennant and the Doctor Who team."
The second episode is being written by executive producer Russell T Davies and Phil Ford. It is due to go into production in spring 2009 and will be screened on BBC1 later this year.
Davies said: "Lindsay is an incredibly talented actress and I've been an admirer of her work for some time.
"We are delighted to announce that she will be joining the team and playing the Doctor's most strong-minded companion yet."

As usual, I refuse to believe any tabloid reports until the BBC confirms them.
Either they have jumped an embargo, or they are making this up.

It's exactly like what happened last month with someone breaking the Press Embargo on Michelle Ryan & Lee Evans.
False stories don't tend to feature direct quotes from the people involved. Just ones from the infamous "insiders" and "sources".
All i can say after meeting Mr Phil Ford this last weekend anything he writes or is involved is will be amazing and a fun adventure for all
i still want to see a big name actor like Colin firth for just a one and done companion i think it would be brilliant

Blech. I read an interview with her where she basically likened Margaret Thatcher to a murderer. What a revolting thing to say! I'm strongly considering skipping the special the disgusting sow appears in.

As someone who grew up in Thatcher's Britain I have no hesitation in describing her as the most evil woman who ever lived.

Yup, it's official. Don't know the woman, really, so I can't judge how good she'll be, but I am irritated at whoever leaked the story.

You are David Cameron and I claim my £10. Everyone, especially the Scots, knows what an evil old cow Thatcher was.
