Matt Smith is not leaving, apparently.
Contrary to current speculation, Matt Smith has implied that he is not leaving the show. In an interview with What's On TV, he said -

seemed obvious to me. too many people were reading too much into the "America" comment. It was all about what to do during the 3 months between Who filming sessions, and small-budget films in the US usually only take 2-3 weeks of an actor's time.
It is similar to David Tennant's Shakespeare productions and occasional guest spots that he would do in the off-season.
