Hoorayness

Despite fears, the BBC site has indeed been updated with Silence in the Library goodness!

Although I do have to say, there isn't as much as usual. For starters, we aint got a fear forecast, or a new clip of the episode.

But what we have got is the usual jigsaw:

This extract of script:

THE GIRL
Something's here! Someone got in! No one's supposed to get in!
Dad, agitated, barely able to keep his seat...
DAD
She's never mentioned anyone else. She's always been alone.
The girl, panicking now, afraid...
THE GIRL
Someone's in my library.

And this very strange, but perfectly amazing video of Harry Peacock (who plays "Proper Dave") playing a tune on his teeth!

blah, suppose we will have to wait till saturday for a good dose of video joy. Is it just me or did any one else feel a bit sick by the teeth playing?

What is that a picture of on the left page of the book?

Also, Paz, you have amazing eyesight. I cannot read those titles for the life of me.

HER library?
the little girl has the biggest library in the universe, all to herself?

The little girl is probably a ghost, or a monster. A monster ghost.

the guy 'proper dave' pulls on what looks like a spacesuit when he's done ...emmm... playing his teeth. He must be one of river song's team.

what does this guy playing his teeth have to do with Doctor Who in any way? and please don't say "he's an actor on the show". How does him playing the William Tell Overture relate to the episode?

Anonymous said...

I wish I could play my teeth.. I now have a grudge against that man!

James said...

Haha. I saw "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" on the bookshelf ;]

Anonymous said...

yea, i take it douglas adams put that in!!!

n.t. said...

I love the bookshelf... "telebiogenesis" has to be my favourite, I assume that's a reference to Castrovalva.

n.t. said...

Oh, and I missed the "Destiny of the Daleks" reference too.

Not to mention Black Orchid is there aswell

Anonymous said...

to read them, drag the picture into the blue bar at the top of your browser window. it enlarges the image :)

the book titles from left to right read
- the french revolution
- the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy
- origins of the universe
- everest in easy stages
- type 40 TT capsule operation manual (the tardis is a type 40 time travel capsule)
- bridget jones's diary
- black orchid
- understanding telebiogenesis

Screen cap it and you also get various volumes of "somebody's" History of England, a book that says something like "Examining Clouds", Love's Labours Lost, Monty Python's Big Red Book & as previously stated A Journal Of Impossible Things.

It doesn't. Sometimes things are just for amusement.

Impressive, but, man, that has to sting his fingertips. And *ouch* it hurts your teeth too (just tried it).

So, if 'Journal of impossible things' is there, does it mean that Joan published it? Perhaps in John Smith's memory?

James said...

btw didn't Douglas Adams used to write for Doctor Who?

StormWolf said...

According to IMDB, he wrote the Pirate Planet, Destiny of the Daleks, City of Death, The Creature from the Pit, Nightmare of Eden, and The Horns of Nimon.

the library supposedly contains everything that has ever been written....

I assume perhaps its not just published materials, and it has some way of finding written words? not sure....

Anonymous said...

The writing looks like "Hit XXX of the..." and then the word "Ood backwards. The drawing is bizarre - perhaps the time vortex? Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.......

MASC said...

And did anyone notice the front of the book looks like the TARDIS?

Combom said...

'the girl' probably lives in the library (her library) so she must be immune to the shadows. the people in the library are probably the doctor and donna and her dad must be talking to someone else, not the girl.

06 - Origins Of The Universe.

I think it's a reference to Destiny of the Daleks, in which the Doctor is reading a book of the same title. (For anyone who's read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, it might amuse you to know that the book in question was written by Oolon Colluphid, author of 'Where God Went Wrong', 'Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes' and 'Who is this God Person Anyway?' Unsurprisingly, it was Douglas Adams who wrote Destiny of the Daleks.)

The Doctor : "He got it wrong on the first line! Why didn't he ask someone who saw it happen?"

can anyone make out book 9s title from my list above? or any other titles i havent listed?

Jess said...

Dunno about number 9, but apparently number 12 and 13 are "Love's, Labor's, Lost" and "The Time Machine"

screengrab of books is here, thanx clipsie http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u184/warnyx/untitled1.jpg

the bookshelf (yeah its niggling me cos i cant work it out :) )

right to left (yes i know this is backwards)

C - 4 matching volumes ???
B - ???
A - ???

01-11 already covered above

12 - MIGHT BE Loves Labors Lost
13 - the time machine DEFIANTLY
14 - ???
15 - 7 Encyclopedias, seem to be "somebodys" History of England.

the titles are worked out by varying ppl above and me :)

can anyone help further?

Combom said...

i also believe some or all of my "clever" links (eg jim broadbent) are wrong, i suspect all or most books have appeared in varying episodes.

i think the 7 encyclopedia set may be from human nature.

we still need 09 too btw

n.t. said...

I'm definitely not certain, but when you rotate #9 upside down and backwards it looks like the title is 'poker.' I'm pretty sure the middle letter is a K.

Combom said...

i see why ppl get "Loves Labors Lost", but i dont, i cant make it fit!
