DigiSpy Stuff

Hints are fun!
The full article can be seen here and is jam packed with lovelyness. But for now, here be the important spoilerific bits!

"For now, here come the drums, the spoilers and three red Daleks. Sorry, we mean red herrings..."
  • Wilf wields a cricket bat.
Yup, as seen in the trailer.

  • Davros has been harvesting bees into a new army of Daleks.
    Um...

  • The Daleks know the identity of a certain former Prime Minister.
Quite possible, we all know those rumors

  • Captain Jack becomes angry at Paul O'Grady's effect on Ianto Jones.
Paul O'Grady does have a cameo in the finale playing himself, so it could happen.

  • A certain body part in a jar is bubbling.
I see no reason why not, hints of the Master and all that...

  • A Dalek exterminates the Torchwood pterodactyl.
Oh no! Not Myfanwy! But yes, possible

  • The fate of a character from 'Voyage Of The Damned' is revealed.
    Meh, maybe... Mr Copper? Wilf?

  • Wilf was banned from using a webcam as there were suspicions over what he might use it for.
    Ah!! Curse my imagination!

  • Project Indigo holds the key to salvation.
Project Indigo is definitely part of the episode

  • The Doctor's daughter Jenny is trapped near a black hole, but K-9 is sent to rescue her.
Could be a neat way of explaining the absence of the characters I suppose

  • A Dalek speaks to Mr. Smith.
In the cast list there is someone playing the "voice of Mr Smith" aka, the computer from SJA. So this is a possibility.

  • The Time War was 'time locked', or so thought The Doctor.
Apparently yes. "time locked" is the same idea as things being fixed, or in flux (like the fate of Pompeii) And it was thought that the Time War was fixed as well... but thats apparently not going to stop Caan finding a way to change it, and stop Davros getting killed.
UPDATE:
DigitalSpy has given us even more stuff! Hooray for them! You can see the full article here and tis fantastic!

First off a few hints... they say a female we know very well will be exterminated this weekend. The question of bees is not why they're going, but where. Theres no K9.

Right, onto the quotes:
"I like Saturdays."
"You cannot possibly *****."
"I'm sorry for your loss. I mean the loss that *** *** (yet?) to **** (come?)"
"My vision is not impaired."
"Who's she?!"
"Tell the Doctor from me, he chose his ********** (companions?) well."

They also add NO SLEEP AND PROHIBITED TRAVEL MAKE CAAN A CRAZY DALEK. NO SLEEP AND PROHIBITED TRAVEL MAKE CAAN A CRAZY DALEK.

Madness!

Woot, first comment.

About the bubbling: Could be the Master, but could also be Jenny (of course) or even Romana (Donna?)

Mr Copper of Voyage of the Damned is mentioned in the series but hasn't yet so thats true.

Video Spotter said...

Wilf & a cricket Bat. 0:10 into the trailer so sorry Jess.

Anonymous said...

Yep. Wilf was most definitely holding a cricket bat in the trailer. Perhaps he's trying a variety of youths' gear to combat his aliens! :D

Anonymous said...

I think the whole bee's being used to make Daleks is quite possible, after all the Daleks turned humans into Daleks at the end of the first series when they stole them using game shows... only one cell in a billion was fit for a Dalek of course :) and anyway, where else would all the Daleks come from...

Jess said...

I'm obviously not that observant then! So, we have Wilf with a cricket bat AND a paintball gun?! He's certainly busy.

Tardis-Tinker said...

omg!! Ianto and Gwen!! Woop Woop! and we all know they cant die cause you cant just kill off the WHOLE Torchwood cast! And could someone tell me who Davros is?

AAH! Now I have to wait a whole WEEK! grr!!

Anonymous said...

My list is this -

Characters in trailer:
Doctor, Donna, Rose, Martha, Jack, Gwen, Ianto, Sarah-Jane, Luke, Harriet Jones

Villains:
Daleks, Judoon (not necessarily against the doctor this time), Davros' laugh

Characters NOT seen:
Mickie, Jackie, Cylde, Maria (former two were confirmed for this ep?)

daystardragon said...

Davros was the creator of the Daleks

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davros

Edit: Off topic, but did anyone else catch Rose saying "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" in TL?

Anonymous said...

Sylvia and Wilf were in it too. As was some strange woman with the Judoon.

Anonymous said...

Hang on a tick, isn;t the really pale woman who yelled "Doctor, come back!" the Controlled from Badwolf/parting of the ways? on satlite5/game station? certainly looks like her.

Looks like everyone of the companions are seeing old monsters...what do you think they brought back from martha's time?

The fate of a character from 'Voyage Of The Damned' is revealed. Lol, doesn't wilf count as a charactar from VotD? Or it could be Mr Copper! I loved him!

Sander said...

The blonde woman was one of the shadow architects, from the Shadow Proclamation!

Here's my three.
"Davros has been harvesting bees into a new army of Daleks."
"The Doctor's daughter Jenny is trapped near a black hole, but K-9 is sent to rescue her."
"Captain Jack becomes angry at Paul O'Grady's effect on Ianto Jones."

Hmm...

Anonymous said...

"Captain Jack becomes angry at Paul O'Grady's effect on Ianto Jones."

Disagree with that. Paul O'Grady has a cameo role.

Anonymous said...

"A Dalek exterminates the Torchwood pterodactyl."

I don't think that will happen. And I hope it won't happen. Because it would be traumatizing for all the pterodactyl fans. Its also very to the point which is unlike the non-red-herrings.

I've heard that Mr. Copper has started a television series based on the Doctor, but it could be rumor. Hard to tell.

Walter said...

I think n.t. is right on two out of three, with the Inato Jones one being a real spoiler. Still, can't figure out the third red herring.

Anyway, what a trailer! Dr. Who has been more exciting this summer than any of the so-called blockbuster movies that have been released. The ending looks huge!

I.E. Was that evil Dalek laughter in the trailer Davros?

Anonymous said...

it was mentioned in one of the commentaries that mr copper will be back. i think it was one of the ones with julie or russel. they said we would find out what happened to him. im interested to know!

Sam said...

Didn't someone say long ago that they thought the bees disappearing would be a new Dalek army? I suspected it when I heard that a new Dalek army would be back, but I don't know if I posted it. I know someone did waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy early on. I think that one might be true.

n.t. said...

Okay, if the Ianto Jones one is true, then this would have to be my third.
"The Daleks know the identity of a certain former Prime Minister."

Walter said...

The new Daleks are kidnapped bees??? Sorry, I don't think that is true because, if you think about it, it would be rather silly. Imagine a Dalek rolling along going bbbzzzzzzz....

The missing bees just may be a red herring that RTD threw into the series to throw us off.

Anyway, who is that woman after the Doctor and Donna in the trailer? Is it Harriet Jones, with new hair?

Also, the *maybe* spoiler about the Time War being "time locked" is interesting. Maybe the Dalek army has escaped from whatever temporal loop the war took place in? And maybe that woman screaming "come back!" is a Time Lord?

daystardragon said...

If the "Fate of VotD" one is true, my thoughts are:
Mr. Copper would be awesome, love the actor/character.
Astrid might be back, perhaps she materializes and helps out, but that would just be silly.
I think it will be Wilf, since he is from VotD.

The Stolen Earth was uploaded to the iPlayer site by mistake! QUICK! Everyone rush over there now and see as much as you can if they haven't taken it down and corrected the mistake yet! (I only found out through a video on youtube, but the guy wasn't watching it, so don't bother watching. It only shows the picture of the Dalek in the street on the iPlayer site).

And please don't tell me that I'm another stupid American who fell for a prank.

Sam said...

Sorry for so many comments, Jess, but I have a few questions:

First, do you know how long it usually takes for the Episode Screencaps site to put up the screencaps?

Second, how long does it usually take for you to find the confidentials on youtube and post the links on this site?

Third, is there any evidence that the rumor is true (the one that says that The Stolen Earth will be directly followed by Journey's End as a special surprise for all viewers)?

Thanks for your time. Oh, and Turn Left was AWESOME! I loved them playing All the Strange, Strange Creatures at the end when Bad Wolf was everywhere! SQUEE!!!!!!

Walter said...

Sam, I'm pretty sure that is a hoax. Check out some of that guy's other videos...they're weird. If that had happened, my guess is we would have heard a lot more about it by now... and the video would have been put up on pirate sites.

Ryan said...

While it might just be one of the red herrings, I like the idea of a Dalek talking with Mr. Smith. Watching two logic-based minds going at it in Doctor Who can sometimes prove entertaining.

Kelsey said...

Wow. Dalek laughter just sounds wrong. And not "epic fail at trying to sound scary" wrong, more like "CREEEEEEPY" wrong. Daleks don't laugh! Oh my God, why do I hear a Dalek's laugh?!?!?

As for the bees... I totally thought that would be explained by The Wasp and the Unicorn, but nooooOOOOOOOooooooo. And then I didn't realize until they kept talking about bees after that episode. I think it's going to have something to do with... something... I don't remember RTD ever having a continuing theme that he didn't resolve in Doctor Who...

I think the Jenny thing is a really obvious red herring... it'd just be too - RANDOM - like a side quest. There haven't been any hints of her, she hasn't been mentioned, there haven't even been any spoiler reports or rumors (not that I've seen, anyways), and if she needs rescuing, she's not coming back to help save the world... so it'd be like, "Oops, hold on a tick, gang, gotta go save my genetic offspring that I thought was dead!"

And yes, I caught the, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Is it just me, or was she speaking in a manner very similar to the Doctor's? It almost doesn't even seem like Rose anymore...

Anonymous said...

No reason a Dalek couldn't talk to Mr. Smith. We see Sarah Jane and Luke presumably at their house, and they'll need a distraction to sneak out of it, one might think.

rob-dog said...

I read this on youtube and thought it would be good to post:

"The trickster is norse mythology. In that, he is involved in triggering Ragnarok, the final battle of the gods and giants in which the universe itself is destroyed. Legend talks of this as the Age of the Bad Wolves. Maybe, just maybe, we're in for Ragnarok, Doctor Who style. The pieces do seem to fit."

Cant wait for next week!

>>Do you know how long it usually takes for the Episode Screencaps site to put up the screencaps?<<

I think it usually takes a day or so. Its up to them in the end.

>>How long does it usually take for you to find the confidentials on youtube and post the links on this site?<<

I don't find the confidentials, I upload them all myself. So I have to download the episode, cut it into 10 minute bits, and upload it to youtube. It should be up by tomorrow methinks.

>>Is there any evidence that the rumor is true (the one that says that The Stolen Earth will be directly followed by Journey's End as a special surprise for all viewers)?<<

I have no idea I'm afraid. I have heard it mentioned that Journey's End will follow on, but there has been no official hint of it. We'll just have to wait and see.

>>How do you upload videos on to your site?<<

I mostly just take them from youtube when I can.

>>I just wanted to say that i've started a blog, and i've put a link to PG, but i'll take it down if you're not happy.<<

Thats fine, thanks for valuing my site! And good luck with yours.

Anonymous said...

I am almost certain that the Jenny one is a red herring - she was originally going to die in The Doctor's Daughter so she's obviously not important to this series, and there's also the fact that she's in the future. No need to include her or even explain her.

I'm positive the bees are vanishing because of global warming caused by parallel universes merging.

I don't reckon Mr. Smith will appear, though. Unless it's a different Mr. Smith and DigitalSpy's playing tricks on us. Could happen, though.

The pterodactyl's been so pointless - barely appeared in Torchwood series 2 - that it might as well be killed off.

ihrleben said...

As far as Mr. Smith goes, I think we will see him again. I've read mention that an explosion splits The Doctor in two. One man with two hearts (The Doctor) and another man with a single heart who dies.

Could be.... Then again, maybe not.

Anonymous said...

Mr Smith could always be Sarah Jane's computer. I saw a tiny bit of the Sarah Jane Adventures. She has a computer called Mr Smith that can talk and stuff.

would be lovely if both eps were shown back to back but according to the tv guides... no such luck!

I haven't seen anyone talk about the TARDIS at the end of Turn Left yet. Aside from the obviousness redness (and odd sounds), it looked totally knackered - the control panels all seemed bare, and the walls didn't have the funky alien pattern. I fully expected the Donna/Doctor conversation "...Rose is coming back - isn't that good?" to be in this episode, must be early in the next one.

One section of the trailer looks like Sarah Jane is about to crash into something, she looks like she is driving and flings her hands in front of her face.

And yes - the dalek laugh is bizarre - it sounded feminine to me, perhaps Harriet Jones as the Red Dalek?

I also think that it would be quite easy for someone to mention Astrid's fate - perhaps the daleks collected her essence in space and turned her into a dalek...Kylie as a dalek - how cool would that be!

Did La Tate have a MBIII spider? Was it the most powerful performance from a Who assistant?

Was it Christian Cooke?

Oh God, how will I cope with another 2 saturdays here in Tel Aviv, on the beach (god, it's fantastic), with only the Third World War with Hebrew subtitles to get me by?

Go look to see them (from Mon pm on www.czechone.blogspot.com) and DO NOT DARE leave spoilers about what's going on. I've sky+ it all...

Now that I've seen Harriet Jones in this trailer and a rather female sounding Dalek laugh (proper Daleks never laugh) I truly believe she could be the Red Dalek.

It would be great if there was a reveal (a bit like the Dalek Sec Hybrid cliffhanger one) with Harriet Jone coming out of the red Dalek casing! Please RTD! Please!

I hope Gwen, Ianto, and Luke all get good roles in the finale instead of maybe just being there to connnect the Doctor Who/Torchwood/Sarah Jane Adventures programmes.

That's like saying "How could Mr. Diagoras be the human Dalek if he was in the trailer" for Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks. I'm not saying HJ is the Dalek, but just because you see her in human form doesn't mean she doesn't become one.

The odd sound chris is the cloister bell that only sound when the tardis can detect real danger such as the destrution of it's self or that around it such as the universe! Yea the tardis does look a bit of a shambles..perhaps we get a new room and console at the end!

so we see her transforming into the red dalek?

so we see her transforming into the red dalek?

We probably will, IF she does become one. My point is just that seeing her in human form doesn't completely rule out what happens to her. Remember, we only saw her for about half a second in that trailer, she might turn out to be the greatest hero or the most evil villain. We'll just have to wait and see.

where is harriet jones in the trailer?

ihrleben said...

As far as the TARDIS goes, it wouldn't be the first time it's had it's interior destroyed and refashioned in a new form by The Doctor.

I found it interesting how Rose seemed to have a connection with the TARDIS in this episode--beyond the sentimentality. I think she was involved with the TARDIS taking The Doctor to Messaline. I still wonder if Jenny isn't somehow biologically tied to Rose much in the same way Jenny is tied to The Doc.

If Rose is tied to the TARDIS telepathically, who knows what else she can do.

Hmmmm..... I wonder....:o)

daystardragon said...

This is really, really, REALLY out there: what if the character from VotD is Astrid, who is the Shadow Architect seen in the trailer? That would be about the right amount of "It can't be" for the doctor's expression, and that would explain how she knows him.

Jess said...

>>where is harriet jones in the trailer?<<

I just have to say that I think the Time Lock one IS NOT a red herring. I was reading the reprinted comics from the original DWM, and the 4th Doctor time locks an entire Dalek ship, sealing it in one point in time and space forever, never to move or be free again. He can travel in the vortex and watch it, but if he leaves the vortex he enters time lock and is trapped forever. I think the 8th Doctor time locked everything in the Time War (the Doctor says somewhere that 10 million or so Dalek ships burned in the Time War) and now something/someone has undone the lock, releasing an army of Daleks and Gallifrey & the Time Lords.

whoever said...

ok, my sugession:
1st: The one with the bees is a fake, because it's real, the bees are really disappearing, and we realy don't know why, nobody knows, and RTD can't turn a fact into something like a Dalek....

2nd: Jenny. I think it's not true, because there isn't a real link between her story and the Doctor's life (I know she is his daughter, but.... no way...) She just doesn't fit in. And she doesn't have a time machine to come and save the word in her past (I think it's her past...)

3rd: Ive no idea about the 3rd one, but don't forget about Mikey, and I think that is important, his full name is MIKEY SMITH (does it ring a bell?)

Anaal said...

So, either a Dalek talks to the Doctor (alias Mr. Smith), Mickey (last name is also Smith) or Sarah Jane's computer (Mr. Smith).
I believe it's true, there are so many Mr. Smiths out there. :)

I don't know if anyone else caught this, but did you all catch the way the TARDIS responded to Rose's touch in ep. 11. She also made reference to the fact that the TARDIS is dying, but that it's still trying to help. Then when it returned to our universe it was like it remembered what had happen in the parallel universe and changed the writing around it to reflect Rose's warning. Is just me or are they really playing up the whole living TARDIS bit, and the connection that Rose has not only with the TARDIS but also the end of the world.

And didn't it seem like she hopped universes a bit too easily. I wonder what's up with that.

n.t. said...

I've watched it again, and I've got two questions.

1) Lachele Carl, the American newscaster on Doctor Who, was previously credited as "Mal Loup," a rough French translation of "Bad Wolf," in her appearances. In episode 11, she was credited as "Trinity Wells." What's up with that? Is that name supposed to mean something?

2) Rose explained that she wouldn't tell Donna her name because: "The wrong word in the wrong place can change an entire causal nexus." Now, apparently a causal nexus is the relationship between cause and effect. Does this apply to Bad Wolf? (By warning the Doctor at the end of Turn Left, did she purposely change the outcome of events in the Doctor's universe?)

Peter said...

I was hoping Jenny would be in this one! Or maybe in the 13 episoide! I hope.

Sander said...

I may got a theory of how all the writing could change to Bad Wolf...

Rose was one with the Tardis in Parting of the Ways, and she was Bad Wolf. The Tardis could sense the universe being in danger and since the Tardis translates everything even the writing (as seen in Satan's Pit and Fires of Pompeii) it could also make every writing appear as Bad Wolf in the heads of Donna and Doctor.

(inspired by anonymous' living Tardis comment! thx for that ;) )

daystardragon said...

Ooh, good thought!

Anonymous said...

Randomly:
I think the clip of the Doctor and Donna looking out the Tardis all shocked, is them realizing the Earth is gone, (Hence The Stolen Earth) and thats why the Doctor goes to the Shadow Proclamation.
To find out where the Earth has gone.
Then the Shadow Architect tells him that its the Daleks behind the stolen Earth, and he, being The Doctor, goes off to try to save us, while she yells at him to come back. (You know what clip I'm talking about there.)

Sam said...

I think that the Daleks invade the Shadow Proclamation and somehow mention Earth and the Doctor runs to check on Earth rather than fight the Daleks, but that's just my guess.

Ya know what I would like to see even though it sounds corny, is the Doctor and Rose having a moment where he admits that he loves her and kisses her for real.

At this point it wouldn't destroy this show, because Doctor Who (the current series) has become so much more than the Doc's relationship with Rose. Quite frankly, I am tired of that hanging out there and would like to see it resolved finally.

I knew i'd heard cruciform before!
check out this quote from the sound of drums:
The Master: Do you remember all those made-up tales about the Toclafane when we were kids? Back home? Where IS it, Doctor?
The Doctor: [pause] Gone.
The Master: [standing up in disbelief] How can Gallifrey be GONE?
The Doctor: [pause] It burnt.
The Master: And the Time Lords?
The Doctor: Dead.
[pause]
The Doctor: And the Daleks. More or less. What happened to you?
The Master: The Time Lords only resurrected me because they knew I'd be the perfect warrior for a Time War. I was there when the Dalek Emperor took control of the Cruciform. I saw it. I ran. I ran so far. I made myself human so they would never find me. Because... because I was so scared.

flying girl said...

Here's my other 2 cents of theories:

Remember RTD said that clues to this series finale were seeded from series 1? Well, we thought it was Time War, now we think it's Darkness, but maybe it is Bad Wolf after all? I"m not saying it's going to be Rose saves the day again by burning all Daleks, but perhaps there will be someting very significant in a war against Davros to having a Bad Wolf on your side. I bet Davros doesn't count on that.

This is a joke theory: so Doctor said there's something binding him and Donna and we all remember throught whole season: "No, no, we're not a couple!" thing. So, in the end Donna will be transported/regenerated/altered into a future River Song and turns out they were a couple after all! Or will be, that is. :)

There is a Crucible in the finale, and a clip of the Crucible was shown earlier this week on the BBC's "Blue Peter" program.

***** Spoiler:

The Crucible is, from what I can tell, a very big and very powerful spacecraft with a large spherical hub and four large pods attatched to it by support struts (not unlike a cross, as n.t. said earlier). It is, according to the Master, Time Lord technology stolen by the Emperor Dalek during the Time War. The Master referred to the Crucible's existance in "The Sound of Drums", though it was originally called the Cruciform (see orange's earlier post). Why the Daleks renamed it, and what they plan to do with it - well, these next two episodes will likely reveal that.

***** End Spoiler.

Yes, or, they're two different things.

I think the female who gets exterminated will be Harriet Jones, leading on to the rumours about her being part of the Daleks plan.
