Turn Leftness!

Waaah! Tis exciting!
Lets pay homage to the BBC and bow before them... or not, either way, lets be thankful. If you live in the land of rain and crumpets then I suggest you head over to the BBC site pronto!

If not, then I suggest you remain here where you can share in the excitement and whatnot... wait till you see the preview clip!

Anywho, as usual we begin with the lovely jigsaw, which looks like this:

And give away this script extract:

FORTUNE TELLER
But was there ever a choice? This job of yours, what led you there?
CU Donna, she flinches -
Whoosh! FLASHBACK, but to a new scene, the next scene, sc.3, glimpsed images, the car, her mum
CUT BACK TO DONNA; transfixed by the Fortune Teller's stare
DONNA
There was a choice. Six months before. Cos the agency offered me a contract as H.C Clements...
Whoosh! White flashback -

Then we have the preview clip:

  • 48 min - The kids chatter animatedly: "Smart! Freaky! A really good one! One of the best ever!"
Eeep! Well, there you go... commence speculation and all round chat!

red spider? empress of the racnoss, donna is reliving her past as if she never met the doctor, thats why he's dead because of the racnoss. what do you guys think?

Anonymous said...

I think you're right Ned.
I've heard tale that Donna relives her past without meeting the Doctor, so he'd have died by Racnoss hand.

Jess said...

Yup, thats what I've heard. Considering what the fortune teller says, I suppose we can assume we're seeing Donna's life from her getting the job at H.C Clements (or in this case, maybe not getting the job?)

So yes, she never meets the Doctor.. and thats pretty obvious anyway, she doesn't look that upset to learn he's dead, just generally shocked and whatnot.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone else notice that when it zoomed in on the sonic screwdriver right before changing to Donna walking away, the screwdriver became all black and -I dunno- sort of whithered? It looked like it was dying/died because the Doctor died.

And this is going to be the most amazing episode of the series! (so far at least). I just really envy all of you in the UK, I have to wait for it to go up on youtube, and even then I start watching when only part one is up. But enough about me! This episode is going to be awesome!!!!!!!!

Preview clip is scary.

20 min - "What about xxx xxxxxxx?"(the adipose?) asks Adam. "And the xxxxxxxxx,"(cybermen?) says Samuel.

Does "cybermen" fit? I was thinking "pyroviles."

11 min - Harry: "Oh yeah, xxxxxx!" Samuel grins in anticipation.

Judoon?

19 min - That's not what happened! The kids are horrified, and the whole family sit in stunned silence

Crashing of Titanic?

I thought so too! Maybe it was just falling in shadow, though.

Sam, I live in Holland, but we have BBC here, so it's no problem. But I rely on Jess to post the exclusive clips and stuff, because I'm not allowed to view those on the official website.

And I'm really looking forward to this episode too. I think it's just like Utopia, it didn't look very good, but it was the dramatic ending that made it one of the best!

Can't wait!

I think Donna not getting job at H.C. Clements is the "Turn left".
"He didn't get out in time" - didn't Donna said to him "It's enough" when he was just standing there and watching Racnoss children drowning?

But why Doctor is wearing his black suit? I thought we never saw him in black jacket before "Lazarus Experement".

Jennefer said...

"34 min - "She's going to xxxx!" grins Samuel. The kids are all delighted."

My guess is for that one is "live". So excited for this episode. :D

Anonymous said...

He wore the black suit in Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel, but that still doesn't explain why he's wearing it after defeating the Racnoss when he wasn't in the Runaway Bride. Another thing, the Racnoss Empress fled to the Webstar while the Doctor drowned her children, and she then proceeded to wipe out England. It said Harold Saxon gave the order to destroy it, so if the Doctor died then, the Master wouldn't come back, so how could he/who would give the order to destroy the Webstar? Does this mean that the Webstar went on to destroy the world until UNIT made up it's mind to attack?

Jess said...

I don't think he is wearing the black suit, I think its just the lighting and quality of the video.

Its similar to the first ever series 4 trailer, the bit where the Doctor breaths out the poison (which we now know is from TUATW) it looked like he was wearing his suit, but we know he wasn't

"Oooh! Oooh! I remember that!" cries Harry. "Watch out for the xxxx!" warns Adam.

Dark pehaps?

19 min - That's not what happened! The kids are horrified, and the whole family sit in stunned silence.

Pehaps that is something that we have seen in the series so far that now appears to happen differently due to the change in timelines.

34 min - "She's going to xxxx!" grins Samuel. The kids are all delighted.
I think that is 'live' too.

Anonymous said...

I just watched the clip again full-screen on youtube, and I was wrong. The sonic screwdriver wasn't turning black, a shadow crept across the screen over the pavement making it ever so slightly darker. Could this be where "The stars are going out" comes from?

Jessica said...

Both of the missing numbers are sevens, 7 and 27, What does that mean?

Anonymous said...

"Perhaps saying xxxx (Rose?) makes her xxxxxxxx?" ponders Adam."

Maybe remember?
So Rose, or whatever that first word is, is a key word to bring back Donnas memories of the Doctor.

Anonymous said...

So when is that bit from the mid-season trailer where Donna says that Rose is coming back and that has to be good and The Doc says "Yeh!"? Must be in this episode, presumably near the beginning if he has to die and loads of other things happen? This is going to be one crammed episode!

Unknown said...

looks like black suit to me, at least I can't see any blue lines even on maximum brightness. Could be rong though.

The thing I can't understand, if Doctor would have died in 2006, how come the world still exists? He was supposed to save the world in 1599, in 1930 and in Pompei, so why did his death affect only events occured after 2006?

Anonymous said...

If the doctors dead..that count's the master being there..i think..time travell it's realy confusing!lol

Anonymous said...

Lilith, because he hadn't visisted them before, it's all wibbley wobbley timey wimey stuff. :P
He only visited Pompeii after he recruited Donna, so even though historically speaking, it happened before 2006, he wasn't there before.

I think.

Anonymous said...

If this is an alternate reality where the Doctor dies fighting the Racnoss, it's perfectly plausible we will see The Master.

n.t. said...

"Oooh! Oooh! I remember that!" cries Harry. "Watch out for the xxxx!" warns Adam.

Star? Tree?

Anonymous said...

I wonder why Darkness is alway spelt with a capital 'D', when describing this episode? For eg. at the homepage it says "cand Rose and Donna stop the approaching Darknes". Hmmmm....

Anonymous said...

Because the Darkness is a 'thing'. Normally, darkness is spelt with lower caps indicating it is not a 'thing' it is merely the absence of a thing (light).

It is Davros :P

Sander said...

James, or maybe we won't see the master, if he dies at the hands of the racnoss he never meets Martha doesn't go to the end of the universe and meets the master.

ugh, wibley wobley,...

Michelle said...

Oh yeah, the Master can't come back, can he, if the Doctor doesn't bring his TARDIS forward. My head hurts.

There's a page for Rose on the BBC website now under "companions." Her little caption is "They keep trying to split us up," which made me smile. It's better than the one on the old site, which was "We'll go down fighting, yeah?" Also gives a clue about how they want us to be thinking about her character.

Gabz said...

"Perhaps saying xxxx (Rose?) makes her xxxxxxxx?" ponders Adam. (Disappear?)

Anonymous said...

What if the Master finds another way to time travel though? It's not hard.

Either way, the BBC One indent thing seems odd.

Anonymous said...

I agree with gabz, but I think it's referring to Rose. Some magazines have said that Donna meets 'a familiar face who doesn't reveal her name'. So maybe the kids are thinking this is because if Rose says her name she disappears again.

Anonymous said...

As RTD wants to pull out all the stops, tie all the loose ends and generally wants to create a new slate for Moff to wrok with, can we expect Adam to make an appearance? You know, he was the guy who we first say in the episode "Dalek" in series 1, who got that weird operation in his forehead wich actually quite looks like Davros' eye thing...Nah, it couldn't be...could it? Nah...
But chances are he'll make an appearance from what I've gathered!

Anonymous said...

in the clip the loudspeaker says 'keep away from the river' why?

also donna must pick up the screwdriver cus it zooms in on it then she walks towards it

Unknown said...

ohhh, timey-wimey... It makes some kind of sense because of course Doctor definately is going to save the Earth in the past (but in his future) a few times. So somehow Pyrovile, Carrionites and Daleks in Manhatten (still) hasn't happened.

"What if the Master finds another way to time travel though? It's not hard."

I don't think so, Master didn't even know he is the Master. And as a human he didn't believe in time travel.

Here is a thought, an abscence of Master in 2007 gives RTD chance to kill yet another Prime Minister ;)

Anonymous said...

You're right! Could he be talking about the Thames, which the Doctor was supposed to drown on christmas, and then that UNIT guy said "He couldn't get away fast enough" or something, so he drowned in the Thames while attempting to kill the Racnoss.

Anonymous said...

Adam is not Davros!!!!! IT wouldn't make any sense if he was!!!!!

Unknown said...

Yeah, but what about "It happened too fast for him to regenerate". Would drowning be fast enough?

Anonymous said...

The Doctor didn't drown in the Thames because he drained it. This is also the reason why they were being told to stand back - they could fall in and hurt themselves on the dried riverbed.

Anonymous said...

Well, I hope he isn't Davros, but it's RTD we're talking about, I'm sure he'll come up with some weird story that makes sense for him but not for us...And I didn't even know death could come so fast to a Time Lord that he can't regenerate...but I never saw the classico series.

Jess said...

Right, the Turn Left page has been updated and there's some new info out there.

Firstly, yup, in this timeline the Doctor dies when trying to destroy the Racnoss. Because Donna isn't there, he doesn't get out fast enough and it drowned by the entire content of the Thames.

That's why people are saying stay away from the river, as its just a big empty ravine now and therefore dangerous.

There is mention of Torchwood in the episode (via Rose) and Martha, Sarah-Jane, Luke, and Maria are all mentioned via a news report from Morgenstern (the medical student from Smith & Jones)

Its not good news for any of them.

Oh, and there's a throw away line at the very end of the episode that suggests a relation between the Time Beetle and the Trickster.

The Trickster is never seen and you don't need to know anything about him in order to enjoy and understand the episode.

Hope that covers everything, there slightly more detail on the Turn Left page anyway.

Anonymous said...

You know the scene in the trailer when Rose runs in, saying 'What is it? What did they find?' So, if she's talking about Doctor's body, then she's there at the Racnoss moment. But that happend pretty much right after Rose got sucked into parallel world!
So, does that imply that in her future Rose sensed that time line was changed, was able to travel not only into a different universe, but also into the past to try to correct it and she knows that she needs Donna for it? Seems like quite a lot of power to have.

Also, since in all the scenes (Partners in Crime) and here she always wears the same clothes does that imply all these events are taking place within one day for her?

Gaz said...

20 min - "What about xxx xxxxxxx?" asks Adam. "And the xxxxxxxxx," says Samuel.

I think it's "the Racnoss" and "pilotfish".

Anonymous said...

I thought the Rose we saw fade away in the beginning was probably standing at the scene of the Doctor's death. That is until we got this latest little preview. Didn't we have reports of that being what it was early on? With the keys in the trash thing I was thinking wibbly wobbly timey wimey thing there but it wasn't. Or at least it was filmed at the same time.

Unless it was all signs of fracturing time and such. I could really easily understand wibbly wobbly timey wimey (WWTW) for it if time wasn't being changed after the event that stops it from occurring. That would mean a paradox and not WWTW. Like with Rose saving her father, meaning she wouldn't have went back in time to save her father lol. The rest of WWTW things don't have those loops (excluding Toclofane since cannabalised TARDIS and all) they happen because something will happen that made them happen. If that makes sense to anyone... temporal mechanics lol. Kinda like an inverted paradox.

Gabz said...

Jess why is the cbox down?

Anonymous said...

Ohh also Flying girl to go with a few things. If Donna didn't work at HC Clemens things would have progressed differently and perhaps the Huon particles wouldn't have been ready for a much longer time without being in her. The Doctor wouldn't have picked her up etc and so the Racnoss would have been far more prepared.

Kremmen said...

I've got it! It was staring me in the face all the time!
The Darkness. It's obvious really.
Justin Hawkins is really Davros and he has genetically re-engineered the Daleks to sing in a falsetto, thus shattering everyone's eardrums and forcing the universe to wear Cybus earpods which will turn them into Cybermen.
See, it's easy when you know how.

Anonymous said...

Yes, that's it.

Because Davros would WANT Cybermen.

Anonymous said...

I'd like to see what Davros would do if he met a cyberman... ohh or the leader of the alternate universe's Cybermen/Cybus. They were both so very similar in many ways. Davros was trying to make his people survive and Cybus guy was trying to upgrade them, both starting from having to save themselves. Well assuming that for Davros he made his chair and that is where his Dalek travel machine experiments were based from.

Anonymous said...

to Sageeth: I think I understand your theory.
I get it what you're saying about the Racnoss and Donna not being there, because she worked at a different branch of HC Clemens (or smth like that). But what I wonder is why Rose is there, at the Racnoss event, when she literally should've been just starting her life in Pete's world?
Probably is timey wimey :)

Anonymous said...

We don't know what happens if a Time Lord dies as another species using that technology. It's just as possible that the Time Lord essence wakes up and forces a last minute regeneration.

Time travel doesn't seem to be a hard equation anymore-from what I've picked up in the new series, time is more of a series of events which are sort of variables that can be altered by Time Lords and other time travelers-at least once.

Let's look at the Auton invasion in the first episode; the Autons arrive on earth("X"), but are foiled("Y"). The power of the Time Lords is that they known that Y can be changed, and how to change it-if the Doctor never did anything, there's still a chance that Y could equal the Autons being foiled, but the exact event would not be the same. More(or fewer) people could die, more or less damage could be done, plus the chance that the Autons could end up winning. But a temporal manipulator gets one shot to alter the outcome, and then it's history, it's happened...unless some other temporal manipulator starts screwing around. That's why time travel's scary, it changes history into clay.

In other words, the Doctor's intervention isn't an absolute, it's an altering factor. DX=Y. Just because he isn't around to meddle doesn't mean the Bad End has to happen-we don't know what will happen, because that event's suddenly in flux again.

Anonymous said...

Jess, I had a question on Turn Left page, there's a report of Sarah Jane and the kids dying. Is that confirmed? Do you know why would they die? They never met the Doctor, unless I forgot something. I missed one episode of SJA, does it tie in with Doctor not being there to help them somehow?

Also, I noticed on the picture where Donna and her family look at nuclear explosion (probably), they're standing in front of the mansion that looks very much like the one in 'Unicorn and the Wasp'. And there servants behind them. Maybe Donna married rich, maybe some descendant of Lady Addison, since she and Doctor never went there, so those events might played out differently too.

Yup. I can't spend all of my time monitoring it and making sure people aren't abusing it. I'm only one person after all.

>>who is the trickster?<<

He was an enemy in the Sarah-Jane Adventures who removed Sarah-Jane from time and loved of her potential energy... or something like that. You can see the episode on PlanetGallifreyTV

>>There's a report of Sarah Jane and the kids dying. Is that confirmed? Do you know why would they die? They never met the Doctor, unless I forgot something. I missed one episode of SJA, does it tie in with Doctor not being there to help them somehow?<<

The report comes from someone who has already seen the episode and was kind enough to give this info. It does fit in with other rumors I've heard.

I don't know why they die. Its true they never meet the Doctor, so I suppose we can assume that they went to the hospital as they were picking up strange signals from the Judoon and the H2O scoop.

Obviously they would have to go as, thinking about timelines, the Doctor died before the Judoon incident.

Hope I covered all questions there!

Anonymous said...

I think people are thinking too much along the lines of most other things still going about the same as they would have. However there are so many reasons things could have gone so very different. For one if Donna didn't take that job is the reason for the changes the Racnoss event could occur after the Judoon incident. Even if it is at the same time and doc dies then along with the Racnoss it means half the world will be wiped out along with Martha, the Moon and Judoon when the plasmavore's trap goes off. So would the Titanic still want to come a visiting? Hell the world could have ended in the past with the Carrion witches and Shakespeare and all... or the Daleks in Manhattan... so much stuff could be very different... just chose any episode and history can change dramatically if Doctor Wasn't there... New Pyroville we could be living on instead...

Anonymous said...

"We don't know what happens if a Time Lord dies as another species using that technology."

Well we have an idea from seeing the possible future of John Smith if he didn't revert back to the Doctor and lived with that lady... and died.

Anonymous said...

"But what I wonder is why Rose is there, at the Racnoss event, when she literally should've been just starting her life in Pete's world?"

Well what I mean is the Racnoss event where the Doctor does fight it and die could be way later. The Doctor only knew about the whole situation because Donna was there, appeared out of nowhere on the TARDIS. It could actually be months or years later and that could be how come Rose isn't just starting her new life. Plus we never know if her universe is affected at all by the change. Being an outsider perhaps she can see it changed.

Can't wait to see the Journey's End synopsis :O

Also SFX said "The Stolen Earth" was, and I quote:

"Episode 12 is ABSOLUTELY BLEEDIN' MENTAL and SUPER-DOOPER-FANWANKY. They'll have to power-hose the squee off the walls of the Outpost Gallifrey forums a week on Saturday.

"It feels a bit like a nostalgic Russell flicked through Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia and went 'Oooh, yeah, that was good - I'll have some of that. And them. And her. And bring in that wotsit from that throwaway line in episode X.' Whilst throwing his head back, hooting with laughter, and booming 'MARVELLOUS!' It's like watching the entire new series so far compressed into a blipvert.

"Ming-mong-kryptonite, then, and there's a danger that the sheer density of it will give casual viewers concussion, but I spent 45 minutes whooping and bellowing with laughter at the sheer don't-give-a-toss audacity of it, and am about to watch it all over again IMMEDIATELY. I bloody loved it, even though there's a slim chance I'll think it's a big pile of tits once I've calmed down sufficiently to be dryly rational - in, say, about three years' time."

If you go to the BBC site, you can find out that the word Turn is important. They used it in all the picture captions, such as Look who's TURNed up, She is reTURNing, Can Rose and Donna Turn things around, Things have taken a TURN for the worse, and upset by the way things have TURNed out.

Anonymous said...

And the soldier does shout "TURN around, let me see your back..."

How about "saying 'home' makes her teleport?"

Anonymous said...

OMG the music when the Doctor's arm falls out of the stretcher, it brought me close to tears!!!

Anonymous said...

To Sageeth: yeah, I see! I think it is interesting How Rose knows that timeline needs to be restored (I'm sure they'll address it).

Also when she talks to Donna, she says 'I've been pulled across the Universes, because every single Universe is in danger'. She doesn't say 'I've come here', but 'I've been pulled'. Pulled by whom?

Anonymous said...

"How about "saying 'home' makes her teleport?"

well we didnt see her say anything in PiC so maybe not. good idea though

n.t. said...

"Pulled by whom?" Bad Wolf?

Anonymous said...

15 min - "Perhaps saying xxxx (Rose?) makes her xxxxxxxx?" ponders Adam.

I think the second one might be "reappear" ??

Anonymous said...

Yes, n.t. I've been thinking that too. Rose seems to posess so much knowledge now: she knows that timeline been altered (being in a different universe too!) and how a non-Time Lord would know that? She knows that it was at the point where Donna was supposed to meet the Doctor that a change took place, she seems to know about a Davros... I don't know what else. THere are rumors that she knows about a Master. Let's just throw in there that she knows about Jenny being alive :)

So, it kind of seems that she might have gotten in touch with her inner Bad Wolf :)

Anonymous said...

I like the theory that Rose's appearance in PiC occurs on the same day or two in her timeline, if not in ours. I've long said that her look was one of almost smugness, or completion, more than anything else. Perhaps in this moment where she sees Donna for the first time (Linear Time) because she wanted to see her, or perhaps because it was vitally important for Donna NOT to give her mother the Keys? I just think that that scene happens near the end of this story.

Anonymous said...

Rose would know the timelines had changed if she had a memory box thing from the Trickster episode in the SJA's.
Pehaps the box does not just allow you to remember the orginal timeline when it is changed, but maybe it also tells the owner of the box that events have been altered.
But I bet it is all to do with swallowing the vortex in series 1. What gets me about that is that she has the vortex in her for longer than the doctor does and she survives but he has to regenerate because it is so bad? Maybe I am being too picky...

Unknown said...

I've been thinking, what if Doctor didn't regenerate because he chose not to? He was very depressed at that point, having lost Rose and being the last of his kind. In Series 3 he was slightly suicidal several times. RTD said that some of Master's words will matter in the future, maybe he meant Timelord's ability to choose whether to regenerate?
And in "Doctor's Daughter" was this dialog which didn't make much sense to me, but now it does:

-She was like you, but maybe not enough.
-No. Too much. She was too much like me.

Did he mean he wouldn't regenerate either?

And the last thing, this blonde woman from trailer, is it Nerys from "Runaway Bride"?

Won't you lot appear stupid when you see it's NOT A RACNOSS EGG!!

I think a lot is going to happen with Billie Piper's character in the next three episodes. All of it tied back to her absorbing the time vortex. Finally, we're going to find out how it truly affected her. I suspect one of the surprises will be that she regenerates.

I wonder if that means she's like the doctor not only in personality but also in biology. In the movie The Doctor is half human.

I also wonder if Rose didn't have a hand in The Doc landing on Mesaline (sp?). Kinda like she still has a connection to the TARDIS. And I wonder if, by some weird twist, that Rose's DNA got mixed up with Jenny's and that's why she didn't regenerate into another person.

Ah well, who knows. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

"So, it kind of seems that she might have gotten in touch with her inner Bad Wolf :)"

ooh very oprah! i get what you mean though she could still have all sorts of connections, maybe thats how she can somehow control t.v screens

In the preview, is that one of the UNIT soldiers who was hypnotized and then killed by the Sontarans? If he's alive, it points towards timeline alteration. Or he might just look like him.

"In the movie The Doctor is half human. "

*covers his ears* No he wasn't. La la la la la la la la.

That was one seriously stupid thing to happen and 99% of the fan population of Doctor Who (of old at least) just pretend it never was meant that way or said or retcon it in some way.

Ok, so here's a point to consider, pete tylers not on the cast list, so whats happened to him, seeing as jakcie and mickey are? Also how could rose know where the doctor would be to send those ignored messages of her screaming doctor, im pretty sure unit or torchwood could ever have the technology.

Plus, parallel doctor, parallel world where the timelords are still alive?

Plus in the radio times it states that donna is in a circle of mirrors, the mara from snake dance and the fifth doctor?

Plus i think its the racnoss incident thats not meant to happen, as said by rose, and that shes only come back to warn the doctor about the oncoming daleks and davros,

And finally, whats in the shadow proclimation, and what did the doctor seal in the medusa cascade?

if you stpo the next time trailer for turn left at exactly 0.30 secsonds you will see donna wering a coat covered in wires-like the kind that suicide bombers use to blow themselves up! eek!

Rose comes back because the universe is in danger, not because she misses the Doctor.
A fortune teller shows Donna what would've happened if she'd have never met the Doctor. That's why she doesn't seem that shocked when she hears the words, 'the Doctor is dead'.

I'm not sure when the fortune teller comes in, but I think it's after she sees that, she meets Rose. And at the end of the episode, when they're in the TARDIS, I think that's when Donna tells the Doctor, 'Rose is coming back'.

I'm not sure if all of that is 100% true though.

CAN'T WAIT UNTIL TONIGHT!!!!!!!
