Time is Right for a black Doctor Who
BBC bosses are in talks to sign actor Colin Salmon to be the first black Doctor Who.
They want the James Bond star to take over when David Tennant, 37, leaves in 2009.
Colin, 45, appeared as character Dr Moon this year — but is best known as M’s assistant in three 007 films. He was tipped to land the Bond role before it went to Daniel Craig.
A BBC source said: “He made a good impression when he appeared and bosses think the time is right to have the first black Doctor.”

This is The Sun, who have confidently predicted that James Nesbitt, Robert Carlyle, Some guy from Robin Hood, John Simm and even Alex Kingston were all 100% going to be The Doctor, all apparently quoting inside sources. I'll believe this when I see Unicorns leaping around on the Moon.

Typical Obama bandwagon stunt from the Sun. I don't give it any credence as it would be perceived as a blatant stunt cast.
First off I hope it isn't him, not because he is black or anything like that but I never really though he was great as Doctor Moon, nothing stood out but perhaps it was the part.
Now Colin Morgan who played Jethro in "Midnight" he stood out to me and now he is Merlin. I think he could do a good Doctor, though make that a future roll for 3 reasons. 1 I LOVE the Merlin show and want it to last for a long while and 2 it would be better for him to be older and 3 Jethro would be mostly forgotten by then. The boy is getting fangirls already, the bugger lol.
Not meaning to sound racist or sexist, but I think that the idea of a black Doctor or a female Doctor might upset some fans of the show. 40 years on and the idea was neglected each time another actor was cast, I personally wouldn't mind since David will forever be 'my' Doctor - it's worth a try. However, I would love to see Lee Evans take on the role!! How brilliant would that be?

It was inreference to "doctor who fan"'s atrocious grammar making it sound like he thinks that the 1st black doctor wont be played by a black guy, and i quote;

Aside from the malfunctioning robots problems, I have no probs with black or female doctors but how could a regeneration change the sexs and race of a person??? There has been plenty of representation of black and female style humans over the 4 series so why get all pc now?
I do really have a problem with using actors who have already played other characters though. They JUST about got away with Freema with the "I had a cousin.." line...

Why does every casting decision like that have to be 'PC'?
Maybe they just thought, "Hey, this fellow would make a good Doctor."? Personally, I'd rather time lords have a set gender if only to herd off the, 'They're asexual, like ameboas!' crowd, but when the story is about a dude who can change shape, you've got to be prepared for someone going, "Hrm, let's try making him something different. ...like a her!".
If there's going to be a black actor cast as the Doctor, I think Colin Salmon is the best man for the job.

Anyway, I agree that casting should be race-blind. If a black or white or brown or purple person is a good actor or a good choice, so be it.
BUT, I don't think that any future Doctor should be a woman. This isn't because I'm sexist. It's because the Doctor is male. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Doctor have a wife many years ago? And aren't there time ladies as well as time lords? I'm pretty sure that gender would be set at birth...
I agree. The casting should be based on the best person for the job. Sadly that is rare these days (particularly where I work!!) There are a number of actors out there who can easily pull off playing the Doctor, whether they are black, white or sky-blue pink!

Perhaps I little bit concern about Anyone of you make black actors to be the doctor not because doctor s skin is not white it maybe black or any skin colours but The doctor s skin is white but not black.
The tenth doctor better regenerate into the 11th doctor with skin colour white but without skin colour black.

well, cause you know, most white poeple have different colours of skins as well. Personally I have blue knees, purple feet and green elbows. I was lucky enough and didnt inherit my dads orange and black striped chest- cause you know no-one wants to have black skin.

Anyway the doctor s skin is still white not black becaus i don t want to see the tenth doctor regenerating into black doctor maybe the 11th doctor could be Hop hip doctor or african doctor but that still impossble.
So I really still don t think the 11th doctor is regenerate into the black doctor known as african doctor or hip hop doctor so in meantime David morrisey is Next doctor because I saw it when the 10th doctor ask the future doctor(victorian doctor) who are you I am the doctor said future doctor(victorian doctor).

Yup i would say from clip that he is an imposter, can tell from the style of acting.
They would not let someone play the doctor in the same accent that many school kids use to play any-one with a posh accent- eg that style of victorian gentlemen where the voice is also lowered...... infact not sure how to explain my thougths coming out of me noggin, guv.
