Doctor 11?

The site Comic Book Resources section entitled Lying in the Gutter has a nice looky at a potential eleventh Doctor.

Lying In The Gutters currently feels ready to make the call that Paterson Joseph in the new Doctor Who. I understand that while there were still a number of contenders in the running at the beginning of last week, the role was offered to him by the BBC a few days later and he accepted.

That Joseph was showrunner-from-2010 Steven Moffat's favourite choice, was revealed in Lying In The Gutters in early October, which caused the bookies to make him their favourite.

His odds dropped when further tabloid rumours tagged other actors, as well as a horrific misreading of the upcoming Christmas special co-starring David Morrissey as The Next Doctor - ignoring the audio drama it is based on, “The One Doctor.”

But as of now, he's the bookies' favourite again. And PaddyPower have withdrawn the category, a sign that they believe the decision has been made. Meanwhile Betfair have him at around 1/2 odds.

Joseph played a strong supporting role in Steve Moffat's “Jekyll”, Alan Johnson in “Peep Show” and a regular character actor in “The Mitchell And Webb Look”. He currently appears in the BBC remaking of Terry Nation's "Survivors."

He does a great line in pompous, mischievous, inspiring, well-presented, well-spoken, with a big cheesey grin. He's absolutely perfect for the role. I can't wait.

Also for 2010, we're not only getting a new Doctor but it appears the TARDIS console room will get a new desktop theme

I really think these people are jumping the gun a bit. There's no way the BBC will announce David Tennant's replacement until after the Christmas special - for obvious reasons.

I really hope that Patterson Joseph doesn't get the role. Not because I don't think he would be good, but just to see egg on an awful lot of faces.

I can't help thinking of all the hype about Alan Davies being the new Doctor before Christopher Ecclestone got the role. If I remember correctly Davies was the bookies favourite, and Ecclestone wasn't even listed in the betting. Davies was even introduced on "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross" as the new Doctor. It turned out to be nonsense though, and I have a feeling that all the current hype about Patterson Joseph might turn out to be just as unfounded.

Don't be surprised if the actor who ends up playing the 11th Doctor isn't even in the betting at the moment.

I think he would be a superb choice, but I do think people are jumping the gun just a little bit as we have nothing concrete yes, just a few rumours.

i wish you would stop refering to morrisey as the 11th doctor...unless of course it somehow turns out that he is indeed a future re-incarnation, but i think its been established that he is only an imposter.

If PJ was the next Doctor, why haven't the press gone mad about it? Last time The Sun found out about Tennant replacing Eccleston, the BBC rushed to announce it first (putting out a notice at midnight), so if it were true, the BBC would be saying something at least to throw us off the scent.

If Paterson Joseph is actually the 11th Doctor, it has been nothing more than a blatant stunt cast on the BBC's part because Obama got elected. The BBC has always been far-left, and this would just reinforce their true PC colors.

Anonymous - How ridiculous.

It's not a 'stunt casting' at all. It would be the casting of a great actor who has worked with the creators of Dr Who in the past - something which Russel T did.

As to the idea that it's because 'Obama got elected' - well, they must really be timelords then, as DT quit on the 29th Oct, and Obama was elected a week later.

Do you not think the creators had an idea of who they would want to replace DT if (or when) he decided to quit BEFORE he did? And do you think that the producers wee finding otu DT quit at the end of Oct? of course not.

I think that the skin colour of certain characters in fiction could be seen as necesarily 'fixed', but not Dr Who. comments like these just make people sound a bit racist.

Oh please...Spare me the old, frayed-at-the-edges racist card. If Paterson is such a great actor, why wasn't he cast sooner? For that matter, why hasn't ANY black actor been cast in the role sooner? What makes Doctor Who immune from such "fixed" casting? I notice that you didn't refute my point that the BBC has always been far-left and in the tank for Obama ever since he announced his candidacy. If anyone is playing the race card, it is the PC crowd at the BBC.

I didn't think you would be eligible to vote for Obama, Doctor Who Spammer. Are you even a citizen of the USA ?

I think the reason why a black actor was not cast before would be either because no black actors had auditioned before, and because producers have their own ideas of who to cast as the Doctor.

Funny how those last 2 anonymous posts sounded exactly like Doctor Who Spammer. Noone else could have such a careless disregard for punctuation and grammar.

So are you saying that all those black actors who were born in hospitals in Britain, were actually born in Africa ?

I have deleted several comments from this post. The level of immaturity displayed was overwhelming and I hope not to see the likes of it in the future.

Other than that, have a nice day :)

Look I don t like to see black actor to be the 11th doctor so if you want to vote black actor fine but I want the doctor to stay white as white person.
