When are we (America) going to have you?
Well, hopefully soon, you know. I've got another year of Doctor Who, but then I'm certainly going to come and give it a shot, come and hang out in LA... as you say, people like Andy [Garfield] have come over, and he's a mate of mine. I'm very proud to see him doing Spider-Man, 'cause we did a play together, and, you know, Spider-Man now. It's incredible. And he'll be brilliant, he'll be so brilliant.
So what do you think? Is he leaving? Should he leave?

I'm not saying he isn't leaving or is leaving, but I wouldn't read too much into it.
Matt said, "another year of Doctor Who", he didn't say, for example, "another year of Dr Who left."
When he said he's THEN going to go to America and "give it a shot" he could easily mean BETWEEN series of Doctor Who.
I'm not claiming he is or isn't leaving, but you have to consider it might sound a certain way when he may indeed mean something else entirely. :)
He probably just doesn't know whether he'll stay past his current contract, and probably isn't thinking that far ahead yet, I would be surprised if his mind is made up yet, although three seasons is traditional, so he would certainly consider leaving after that, not that I want to see him go.
Half of me is thinking "Yes I want him gone."
The other half is thinking "But if he left now then I'd remember it as a bad time in Who history. I'd rather see him become excellent before he departs."

Hate to get into a 'he's a good Doctor' argument, but are you still watching some past series? Matt Smith was excellent from the moment his head appeared from the TARDIS in Amelia's Pond's garden. :P
@thedoctorwho07
I just think he's very limited as an actor and it limits the potential of the show... Matt Smith's Doctor can convincingly be rude and quirky, but any other emotions he tries don't work for me. When he blew up in The Beast Below I just sat there thinking "I'm really not buying that you're mad. You're not convincing. It just looks like you're yelling for no reason."
So I'd like to see him grow as an actor.. which series 6 has showcased a little. But I also think the bigger problem is that there's not much chemistry in the new production team.
I can see the bits where you might think he can't act or might not convince you (although I disagree wholeheartedly, and I know a vast amount of others also would), I'm not sure how you can possibly judge how much chemistry there is between today's production team.
I can only assume, that when you say that, you aren't talking about Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill (and sometimes Alex Kingston) since they quite blatantly have a fantastic rapport and chemistry together. but neither can you claim that the others behind-the-scenes have no chemistry because we see less than 1% of what they do (on Confidential, etc) which is not enough for anyone to judge on by any means, to be honest.
This reminds me to unsubscribe form these comments...
Although, reading back my and the anons' comments I feel rather that Matt Smith has more than proved his worth now, and if they still think he hasn't then they are in the extreme minority. And also wrong. ;) lol
