Apparently, director, David Yates, is teaming up with the BBC to make a Doctor Who movie.According to Variety, Yates is working with Jane Tranter, who is the LA head of BBC Worldwide, previously Head of Fiction at the BBC until 2008.
"We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," he said. "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena."
Yates says that the movie will not be continuing from Russell T Davies' or Steven Moffat's writing, confirming that "we have to put that aside and start from scratch."
Doctor Who has had a bunch of films in the past, the most recent being the 1996 movie, starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor.
The news is quite an exciting prospect, but let's hope it doesn't ruin the 'Britishness' of the show by making it American (see: Shameless, Skins etc.)

If Dav Yates' Harry Potter films are anything to go by,I'm worried. And "start from scratch" doesn't exactly fill me wih confidence

I attended a talk by Steven Moffat las t week at Hampton School in West London where he poured a huge amount of cold water on the movie rumour. He said it was nowhere near reality and the whole thing was basically rubbish.
David Yates is not going to make the movie it's the BBC team who will make the movie and I have a question bout the movie cuz the other show it goes to seven to eight doctor so is this going to be The end Of the eleven doctor And the beginning of the twelve doctor and who will be the 12th doctor
