*TV Week's article, "What's Up, Doc?":
- What promises to be scarier and more intriguing, Doctor Who crash-lands 27 August (holy bow-ties, this Saturday!). We learn here that the Doctor comes face-to-face with a war criminal, "and it's not Hitler".
- The Doctor meets up with Amy and Rory, and a mysterious new companion who forces her way aboard the Tardis.
- The shape-changing robot, Teselecta, wants Hitler dead! This robot's function is to capture and kill baddies, to put history right. (Is River a baddie!?)
- We will see more of River Song flirting and we will find out more about her. This is gonna get interesting.
- The poisoned Doctor has but 30 minutes to live, and save the world. Who has poisoned the Doctor? River??
The Doctor Fights Hitler!
- We do see a return of James Corden from The Lodger.
- Handbots, Peg Dolls, a mole, mini Amy and Rory and an explosive grand finale. Oh my. The Doctor and Amy enter a bizarre world. And River is there….but is she good?? Or is she a baddie?
TV & Satellite Week
- Yes, yes the Tardis crashes into 1930's Nazi Germany, this time coming face-to-face with the Evil Fuhrer himself.
- We get to find out more about how the whole River/Melody thing pans out.
- We learn that the Teselecta finds itself impersonating some very interesting people. This is interesting. (Smith compares it to the Terminator---with tiny people inside of it, operating it…think numbskulls).
- We learn in this article, that the Doctor is in fact poisoned by "someone we all know and love". (River?? I'm just saying)
- Night Terrors: Something creepy lurks, frightening a poor child, the Doctor battles evil peg dolls.
- The Girl Who Waited: All about Amy, Amy winds up on a quarantined disease-ridden planet…and Amy gets to see an older version of herself.
- The God Complex: A living hotel…each room contains a different nightmare, the hotel feeds off peoples' fears. We see a creepy clown and a minotaur!
- The Doctor finds himself trapped in a dollhouse!
- We see the Doctor in a top hat. I guess top hats are cool now, too.
- Why is River out to kill the Doctor? What's really going on there? Surely he's not the good man she killed?
- We see more of the Silence. And we hear "order of the silence" The Silence are still very much around.
TV Times
- River was born to kill the Doctor.
- River and a banana. Behave.
- The Doctor and Amy occupy a bizarre world full of children and prehistoric birds. And what's with the pyramids??
Radio Times
- In a RadioTimes interview with Alex Kingston, she cannot answer how long River will be around…she can't even comment as to whether she even knows. Could River be the next companion?
- Parts of the series are scary for children. It's all about fear, children's fear and conquering it. Classic behind-the-settee Doctor Who.
- Steven Moffat guides us through the episodes:
- 608 Let's Kill Hitler written by Steven Moffat: Caitlin Blackwood guest stars. And I've already talked enough about this episode.
- 609 Night Terrors (written by Mark Gatiss): Emma Cunniffe and Daniel Mays guest star. A child's bedroom is the scariest place in the universe.
- 610 The Girl Who Waited written by Tom MacRae: Out of the Tardis and into a strange white waiting room…I've already discussed this episode above. Moffat calls this one mind-blowing and heart-breaking.
- 611 The God Complex written by Toby Whitehouse: David Walliams and Caitlin Blackwood guest star. A living, scary, bizarre and twisted hotel. Ventriloquist dummies. Eek.
- 612 Closing Time written by Gareth Roberts: James Corden and Daisy Haggard guest star. Alien threat and a baby!
- 613 The Wedding of River Song written by Steven Moffat: Frances Barber and Simon Callow guest star. "I don't want to marry you." "I don't want to murder you." The episode with all the answers. Finally
- Matt Smith confirms that he has signed on until 2013, at least. He's in love with Doctor Who. He's going to shoot 14 episodes next year, including a Christmas special. He states they may not all go out in 2012 though.
