Sixth Doctor Companions

Name: Peri Brown
Race: Human
Time of Origin: 1984
Planet of Origin: Earth

Peri first appears in 'Planet of Fire', in which she encounters the Doctor and Turlough on the island of Lanzarote. Peri asks to join the Fifth Doctor on his travels, while Turlough departs to return to his home planet of Trion.

Peri is present when the Fifth Doctor regenerates into the Sixth at the end of 'The Caves of Androzani' and continues to travel with him.

Peri is a bright, spirited young woman, who travels with the Doctor because, like many of his companions, she wants to see the universe. Although she shares a more abrasive relationship with the Sixth Doctor, there is an undercurrent of affection in their verbal sparring.

In the second segment of the Trial story arc, 'Mindwarp', Peri is abducted by a slug-like creature named Kiv, who apparently transplants his brain into her body. Soon after, the Doctor is led to believe that Peri is dead, and is severely distressed by this. It is later revealed that the evidence of Peri's death was faked. Peri has, in fact, survived and married King Yrcanos of Thoros Alpha, a warrior king.

Name: Mel Bush
Race: Human
Time of Origin: 20th Century
Planet of Origin: Earth

Mel first appears 'Terror of the Vervoids', where she and the Doctor have been traveling together for some time - yet have only just met. The Doctor takes Mel back in time, and meets up with her then... or something confusing like that...

Mel is a computer programmer from the 20th century who comes from the village of Pease Pottage in England. She has an eidetic memory, and a cheery, almost perky personality. She greets most situations with a warm smile and good humour, and was an optimist whose views extend to believing the best of people's natures.

She is present (albeit unconscious at the time) when the Sixth Doctor regenerates into his seventh incarnation, and continues to travel with him.

In the serial 'Dragonfire', she decides to stay on Iceworld with the galactic confidence trickster, Sabalom Glitz, leaving the Seventh Doctor to travel on with his new companion, Ace.
