Companions, Smithy & Cybermen

Yup, things are definitely quiet in the world of Who at the moment. It'll pick up soon since filming is starting on the 19th but until then here's the latest...

Daily Mail - Why Matt Smith is just what the Doctor ordered
Stuff.co.nz - Dr Who sidekick may be a kiwi

And DigitalSpy has a fantastic article all about the Cybermen

digital spy is actually really interesting, but you could tell they were straining not to put all the blame on RTD about the pansy nature of modern cybermen- and ultimately the daleks as well. Hopefully what'shisthenewguy?iam currentlyonabrainblank, will put more fear back into doctor who by playing on the fears that modern children, and adults, have by using pyschological techniques (and partially cinematic) rather than relying on new technology like the old who.

I heard Moffat may have an interest in the Mondasian Cybermen.

Why "Torchwood" in the title?

Well, the first new Cybermen story wasn't an RTD story, although we're well aware of his dark hand in nearly every script. I definitely think they haven't had a chance to let rip. They've been upstaged by the Daleks, they've been upstaged by the necessary lightness of a Christmas special (although they had their moments there)... I think they need to be far more inhuman and far less redeemable. Less standing around talking, more completely ignoring all attempts to negotiate or cry for mercy.
