Name: Rose Tyler
Race: Human
Time of Origin: Early 21st Century
Planet of Origin: Earth
In the first of the new series entitled 'Rose', we find her working as a shop assistant. She has a boyfriend named Mickey Smith, lives in a council-flat with her mother Jackie and is generally bored with her mundane life
One night, after the shops close, she encounters mannequins coming to life in the basement of Henrik's. The Autons are about to dispose of her when the ninth Doctor saves her life, although he proceeds to destroy the building, thus costing Rose her job.
From that moment on, she aids the Doctor in saving the Earth, and agrees to travel with him after her told her he could go to anywhere and anywhen.
At the end of the ninth Doctor's time, Rose looks into the heart of the TARDIS and absorbs the energies of the time vortex in order to save the Doctor and the Earth from the Daleks. However, soon the energies she absorbed begin to destroy her body. The Doctor, through a kiss, absorbs the power, sacrificing his ninth incarnation and regenerating before Rose's eyes into the Tenth Doctor
Rose is initially disconcerted at the Doctor's transformation, and is even more distressed when the Doctor falls into a post-regenerative coma. However, when the Doctor recovers and defeats the Sycorax, who were planning an invasion, Rose happily accepts his new face and manner.
During a visit home, Rose and the Doctor find that both the Cybermen and the Daleks are invading their Earth. Although Rose and the Doctor manage to remove both enemies from Earth, by sucking them into the Void, Rose is lost from the Doctor as she herself nearly falls in. She is saved just in time by her father but at the cost of being trapped in a parallel universe.
Later, the Doctor manages to project his image through the last crack between the universes, sharing a tearful farewell with her. Rose mentions working with that parallel Earth's version of Torchwood due to her experience with aliens.
After last seeing Rose, the Doctor would often become depressed at the mere mention of her name, or whenever he is reminded of her. Towards the end of their time together, there was a strong sense of love between the two, so much so that Rose admitted her feelings for him. When the Doctor was about to reply however, the transition cut off leaving a sobbing Rose.

Name: Mickey Smith
Race: Human
Time of Origin: Early 21st Century
Planet of Origin: Earth
Mickey lives on the same South-East London council estate as Rose and works as a mechanic at the local garage. He was first introduced as her boyfriend however, once they both became connected to the Doctor, Rose left him to go and travel while he himself was to afraid to go.
Mickey's initial cowardice and his panicky description of the Doctor as an 'alien... a thing' does not impress the Doctor, and he pointedly states that Mickey is not invited. However, in the later episode 'World war three', Mickey bravely defends Rose's mother Jackie from the Slitheen and helps to end the alien threat. These actions earn him a degree of the Doctor's respect.
After the appearance of the tenth Doctor, Mickey becomes a more prominent role. He helps save a school from the alien race, Krillitanes and finally joins the TARDIS crew, although he expresses the worry that he is a third wheel and taken for granted.
When visiting a parallel Earth, he is mistaken for his parallel counterpart, Ricky Smith. When Ricky is later killed by the Cybermen, Mickey takes his place and remains on parallel Earth. As the Doctor states that travel between parallel universes is impossible, it seems that Mickey will be stuck in this alternate reality, never to meet the Doctor or Rose again.
However, in 'Army of Ghosts', he reappears. He appears more confident and self-assured than previously and soon becomes part of the fight against the Dalek and Cyberman armies. At the conclusion of 'Doomsday', Mickey returns to the parallel universe along with Pete, Jackie, Jake and Rose and the breach is sealed.
Name: Donna Noble
Race: Human
Time of Origin: Early 21st Century
Planet of Origin: Earth
In the events of 'The Runaway Bride', Donna Noble is a temporary secretary at H.C. Clements, a security firm which, unknown to her, provides a front for Torchwood.
On the day of her wedding, she is accidentally pulled into the TARDIS as a result of being dosed with Huon particles by her duplicitous fiance, Lance, who is following the orders of the Empress of the Racnoss whom she aids the Doctor in defeating.
Although Donna's primary appearance shows her as a short tempered, sarcastic and loud-mouthed individual, as she meets the Doctor and finally sees the 'bigger picture' as the formation of the world is shown to her, she finally decides to make something of her life. She is asked if she would like to travel with the Doctor, but declines his invitation — possibly because she is frightened not only by his adventures, but also, to a certain extent, by the Doctor himself and his occasional dark side.

Name: Martha Jones
Race: Human
Time of Origin: Early 21st Century
Planet of Origin: Earth
A 23-year-old medical student from, Martha meets the Doctor in 'Smith and Jones'. She subsequently saves his life whereupon he then saves her, everyone else in the hospital and half of Earth from imminent destruction. In need of a new friend, though not willing to admit it to himself, he invites Martha to join him for "just one trip" in order to thank her.
The Doctor initially displays a rather conflicted attitude to her presence, having clearly been impressed by her intelligence, intuition, resourcefulness and compassion in their first meeting, yet remaining unable to fully move forward from the loss of Rose.
After extending her trip at least twice, the Doctor comes to appreciate her value and, when Martha finally calls him on his treatment of her, admits that she is more than "just a passenger". The Doctor relies on Martha in numerous life-threatening situations and frequently thanks her for taking care of him.
In 'Utopia', the TARDIS travels to the end of existence, where Martha inadvertently causes the renegade Time Lord, The Master, to reclaim his identity. In 'The sound of Drums' the newly elected Prime Minister, a.k.a the Master, takes control of the Earth. Although he captures the TARDIS crew, Martha escapes and travels the Earth for a year on her own. During this time, she speaks to the surviving humans as part of a plan that restores the incapacitated Doctor and rewinds time to reverse the Master's takeover. At the end of 'Last of the Time Lords', Martha voluntarily departs the TARDIS to stay with her family, complete her medical education and come to terms with her unrequited feelings for the Doctor. She leaves her phone with the Doctor, telling him that when she calls, "you'd better come running".

Name: Captain Jack Harkness
Race: Unknown
Time of Origin: 51st Century
Planet of Origin: Boeshane Peninsula
Jack first appeared in the two-parter episodes 'The Empty Child' and 'The Doctor Dances'. Rose meets him during the London Blitz in 1941, where he is posing as an American Captain (and is truly a Time Agent who has had him memory partially erased). Jack initially tries to con her and the Doctor but as he becomes deeply involved and a key member of the team, he is transformed from the con man he was into a hero.
In 'The Parting of the Ways', he is shot dead opposing the Daleks, but Rose brings him back to life while suffused with the power of the time vortex. This had the untimely effect of providing Jack with immortality, so what ever happened, he could not die.
Because of the Doctors instinct of feeling that Jack was 'wrong' as he could not die, The captain was left in the year 2100. Here, he managed to travel back to Earth and arrived in the year 1869. Once there, he decided to wait until he could meet up with the Doctor again.
During this long wait, Jack became head of Torchwood in Cardiff. Here, it appears that Jack is a changed man. He keeps himself wrapped in mystery and sometimes appeared ruthless and violent, although, usually it was for the greater good. He also displays a deep compassion for those who are suffering especially when it is revolved around death.
When the Doctor lands in Cardiff to refuel, Jack jumps on the disappearing ship. But, like the Doctor, the TARDIS has an instinct that Jack simply 'feels' wrong and, while trying to shake him off, arrives at the end of the universe.Jack aids the Doctor and Martha in trying to stop the Master from ruling the universe - during which he spends a year in chains and being constantly killed by the Master for enjoyment.
When the Doctor offers Jack a secondary chance to travel with him, Jack refuses, opting to stay and command Torchwood.
It is reveled that, as Jack cannot die, he will consequently run into the Doctor many thousands of year later, though the Doctor will not recognize him as he has changed to resemble a giant, telepathic face, known only as the Face of Boe.

Jack's human isn't he?
Can humans live for millions of years and come back to life after being shot in the chest? No. He's not human...but no one really knows what he actually is. I don't think he does.
well in "parting ov the ways" jack was exterminated. rose used the time vortex to bring him back to live but she couldnt controll her powers and brought him back 4-ever but he is human hope that helps
he is human... as the Doctor explained in "The Doctor Dances" he is a 51st century human that has evolved to be more sexually compatable. Later, his race might be designated as a Boemina... that is if you think that Jack is the face of Boe
Hey, I caught a little mistake here. Jack was left in the year 200,100, not 2100. but other than that, I love your site!

Where's Series 4? Come on, Donna deserves more than that, doesn't she?
Can we have some more Donna please? she is the best companion!!! where is the rest of her travels?? and shouldn't there be a bit on River, Lady Christina, Adelaide Brooks and Astrid Peth etc... please put all the tenth's companions in, not just the main ones, and please continue through s4 and the 2009 specials. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
River Song being the doctors daughter makes copleat sence coz the doctors daughter suvives and he doesn't know so he wouldn't think about it and it was stevens idea to bring her back to life and she hasn't appeared again yet so why leave a story like that untold unless this is it and she would know her dads name if they met again (that being one opption the other being they get marryed which is to obviouse) it would also explane there atitude to each other the sort of daddys little girl thing. I mean if you think about it its the only reason able acplanation for the untold story and the obviouse lie (coz lets face it the bbc wouldn't make it that obviouse. You dont have to be that smart to work it out
Asking questions are actually pleasant thing if you are not understanding something entirely,
but this piece of writing provides good understanding
