Episode Objective: To find out what the 'mauve and dangerous' pod is, and to find out who or what the Empty Child is.

Bullet-point Plot

• The TARDIS chases a metal cylinder
• It materializes in London
• Rose hears a child calling for its mother
• And sees a boy wearing a gas mask on the roof...
• She uses a rope to climb up
• But it's attached to a barrage ballon
• Rose goes for a fly...
• The Doctor realizes he's in the London Blitz
• He returns to the TARDIS
• The police box phone rings
• Nancy appears and tells him not to answer it
• she disappears...
• Rose loses her grip on the rope and falls
• She's saved by a tractor beam
• And arrives in Jack's ship...
• Some children are in a house
• Nancy is looking after them
• They're eating the food
• While the family is hiding from the bombs..
• The Doctor appears
• He asks if they have seen the cylinder
• There's a knocking on the window
• And a child in a gas mask
• It asks for its mummy...
• Nancy locks the door
• All the children run
• The Doctor opens the door
• But the street is empty....
• Rose wakes up in Jack's ship
• they have a flirt and a dance
• Jack tires to sell her the cylinder
• He says its a warship...
• The Doctor connects the fallen cylinder and the empty child
• Nancy says he needs to talk to 'the doctor'...
• Jack and Rose continue to flirt
• He thinks shes in the Time Agency
• Rose plays along...
• The Doctor goes to the nearby hospital
• He finds the beds filled with corpses wearing gas masks
• Doctor Constantine appears
• He says all have the same injuries
• The gas masks are fused to their flesh
• The Doctor asks what killed them
  
• Constantine says they're not dead...
• Then grows a gas mask face...
• Rose and Jack enter the hospital
• Jack introduces himself
• The Doctor wants to know about the warship
• Jack insists it has nothing to do with the Empty Child
• He confesses that it's just an ambulance
• Nancy returns to the house to get more food
• The Empty Child comes
• Nancy tries to hide
• At the hospital, all the patients sit up
