The Family of Blood

Episode Location: Earth, England 1939
Aliens/Enemies: The Family, The Jack-straws
New Characters: John Smith, Joan, Tim, Baines, Jenny

Episode Objective: To hide from The Family and make sure John Smith doesn't come to any harm.

Bullet-point Plot

• Martha & Joan are hostages
• Smith must change back to a Timelord
• Or choose which will die
• Tim is in the crowd
• He opens the watch
• The Family spin around
• Martha grabs a gun
• Pointing it a Baines/Son of Mine
• Everyone gets out
• They run to the school
• Joan confronts Smith
• As she begins to think he is The Doctor
• The Family arrive at the school
• And send in Sister of Mine to spy
• The headmaster comes out
• And tries to talk to The Family
• He fails
• The school prepare to fight
• Joan talks to Martha
• She says she's a trainee doctor
• And names the bones in her hand
• Father of Mine finds the TARDIS
• Sister of Mine finds Tim
• He opens the watch at her
• She gets a flash of The Doctor's life
• And runs away, scared
• The scarecrows attack
• Smith hesitates
• But they are all killed
• Sister of Mine appears
• And shoots headmaster
• Everyone runs from the school
• Smith, Joan & Martha hide in the woods
• They see Father of Mine guarding the TARDIS
• And ask Smith if he remembers it
• Smith is upset
• He just wants to be himself
• They hide in a cottage
• Martha tires to persuade Smith again
• She says they need The Doctor
• Tim appears
• And gives back the watch
• Smith refuses to hold it
• The Family return to their ship
• And begin bombing the town
• Smith grabs the watch
• Saying he could just give it to The Family
• And continue being John Smith
• Martha says she loves The Doctor
• Her and Tim wait outside
• Smith is distraught
• He doesn't want to open the watch
• As it would mean he would cease to exist
• As he touches Joan and the watch
• He sees a flash-forward
• To the live he could have had
• Marrying Joan
• Having children
• Growing old
• And dying happily
• Joan asks what he's going to do
• The Family are in the ship
• Smith appears
• They sniff him
• But he is still human
• He gives them the watch
• They push him away
• He falls and hits random buttons
• But the watch is empty
• The Doctor stands up
• Saying he did nose ventriloquism
• And tricked them
• The ship is about to explode
• Because he pushed all the buttons
• Now The Family have no hope
• Of getting the Time Lord essence
• And living forever
• The Doctor punishes them
• Trapping them in various places and states
• Joan asks if The Doctor will change back
• He says no
• Asks Joan if she wants to travel with him
• She says no
• And tells him to leave
• The Doctor gives Tim the watch
• Tim uses it during the war
• To tell the time and avoid a bomb
• Many years later
• An old Tim is at a war ceremony
• He sees The Doctor and Martha
• And smiles to himself
