Episode Location: Earth, England 1913
Aliens/Enemies: The Family
New Characters: John Smith, Joan, Tim, Baines, Jenny
Gadgets Used: The Fob Watch, the chameleon circuit, the Journal, a cricket ball
Episode Objective: To hide from The Family and make sure John Smith doesn't come to any harm.

Bullet-point Plot

• Laser fire into the TARDIS
• The Doctor & Martha duck
• They're being chased
• The Doctor has one choice
• "This watch is--"
• John Smith wakes up
• Martha the maid comes in
• Smith talks about his dream
• Martha dismisses it
• Later the same day
  
• Smith runs into Joan
• She helps him carry books
• Joan mentions the dance
• And how she's no one to go with
• John begins asking her
• But falls down the stairs
• Joan checks his head
• Martha rushes in
• And is told off
• As she is just a servant
• Smith tells Joan his dreams
• She checks if he has 2 hearts
• Which he doesn't
• He then shows her his Journal
• Where he writes his dreams
• She asks if she can read it
• Martha tries to persuade her not to
• Older students bully Tim
• Making him do their homework
• Baines goes to the woods
• To get some beer
• Martha & Jenny talk
• Sat outside a pub
• They see a green light
• Joan walking in the woods
• Sees the light to
• She runs to the pub
• Smith comes out of the pub
• All 4 watch the light
• Baines in the woods
• Runs into an invisible spaceship
• The Family take him
• He arrives back at the school
• Acting strange
• Martha cycles to a shed
• Enters the TARDIS
• And has flashbacks:
• The Doctor talking
• About the chameleon arch
• And how it'll change him
• Into a human
• He wont remember anything
• To get The Doctor back
• The watch needs to be opened
• As it stores his Time Lord essence
• Tim goes to see Smith
• To collect a book
• He find the Fob watch
• It whispers to him
• And he opens it
• In the garden
• Baines sniffs
• Scarecrows begin walking
• And abduct a farmer
• And girl with a balloon
• Smith & Joan talk
• He asks her to the dance
• They kiss
• Martha rushes in
• Rushes out again
• Jenny is abducted by scarecrows
• Taken to the ship
• Baines holds out a green orb
• Jenny is possessed
• She talks to Martha
• Trying to find out about Smith
• Martha figures who she is
• And runs
• Goes to Smith
• Asks for the watch
• But it is gone
• She tries to tell him
• Who he really is
• He doesn't believe her
• Smith & Joan go to the dance
• Martha appears again
• With the Sonic Screwdriver
• And tells him he's The Doctor
• The balloon girl overhears
• The Family arrive
• The girl tells them who Smith is
• Baines tells him to change back
• Smith is confused
• Joan & Martha are grabbed
• "Your friend or your lover, your choice"
